Port of Echuca Discovery Centre reviews
31 We are very lucky to have a ride with beautiful Adelaide boat build in1866!
Very nice easy excess around the area too.
A must visit for your Echuca itinerary. Free entry. A great opportunity for primary aged children to get a good understanding of a short but fascinating period of Australian history. Full marks to the local council who have done a first rate job on this Centre.
Excellent attraction for both adults and children. Very interactive and centrally located where the Murray bends around so you have ninety degree views up and down the river. The Discovery Centre has excellent wheelchair access and so much to see and do. Children will love checking out the old train carriages, hopping aboard an old steam train, and entering the cargo shed with so many games to keep them busy and excited.
Plenty of photo opportunities with paddle steamers coming and going.
Staff were pleasant and very helpful. Lots of items to choose from at the gift shop. Very modern and clean building.
Only 1 out of 4 people there seemed to be able to speak to attractions, very poor show, too busy talking to themselves instead of customers.
Port of Echuca Discovery Centre had some fabulous trinkets and produce. Really interesting stuff from the region as well as general Australiana items. There are tours and tour information, sights to see and very friendly staff. Make the effort to go.
Great place to see how our river system worked in the early days. Great paddle boat ride and morning tea.
Visit Stretch the port cat and give him a pat. Make a small contribution to his food and upkeep fund in the shop.
Great information on the impact and importance of the river trade and white history in the region. Could do with more about the impact of trade on the Yorta Yorta people and other clans of the river.
Highly recommend the night tour with Bluey. He's a great story teller and weaves a compelling yarn.
For those who have read All The Rivers Run or watched the tv mini series in the eighties you can stand behind the wheel house they used in the series and steer the Philadelphia.
Jump back and forth over the Victoria and New South Wales border with glee.
We went on the tour of the Historic Port of Echuca with Joel as our guide. I have been to Echuca quite a few times but never learnt so much about the history of Echuca & the port as I did on this tour. Joel was so knowledgable of Echuca's history and passed off that knowledge with both humour and confidence. I never realised how important Echuca was to the growth of a young Australia. If in Echuca, I thoroughly recommend this tour & hopefully you get Joel as your guide!
Good, but could use a better selection of souvenirs, I feel like it is very much the usual stuffed koala and leather Akubras for the tourists. Get something unique guys:)
Friendly helpful staff, good range of locally made products at a variety of prices.
Informative about local tours & activities.
And there's a cat!
Intresting, colourful and exciting. I was so excited at the thought of seeing and travelling on a paddle steamer. The discovery centre really added to the ecperience.
Bit too pricey for us to go in but the lady in the gift shop was absolutely amazing so nice and sweet these 4 stars are for her
Don't miss this must see attraction in Echuca! Great value with all day to explore. We did a guided tour as well, included in entrance fee, and found it very informative about the history of Australia's largest and busiest inland port.
Great family destination. Very informative regarding the history of the Murray river and the river pioneers that settled the countryside.
Excellent place to visit and stay. Lot's to see with great eating places. The local sporting clubs are good place to watch the AFL if your team is not televised.
Wil go back again in summer.
Went on the night ghost tour with Suzanne which was really informative and interesting. Came back the next day for a day tour with Jenny, who is a legend of Echuca and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the tour. Both tours were well worth the time.
There's a free cruise here if u don't wanna pay for one, nice place to spend a few hrs looking at the history of the port
We had Jenny as our guide! It was fantastic.so much to learn on the 1 hour tour.definitely with the money!
