Port Campbell Hotel reviews
61Very nice place, with no signs of localism that you can get with small town pubs probably because they are used to tourists. It is unusual to find a pub that doesn't open until 4: 30 (delaying beer o'clock), but the setting and atmosphere were worth the wait. Staying on for dinner is a must with great food and generous portions in the bistro.
Did not stay here so I cannot comment on the accommodation, what I did do here was have dinner and the food is fantastic the service is excellent the atmosphere is great, the fires are burning and the decor has to be seen to be appreciated, highly recommended if you are in Port Campbell
Friendly staff and great menu and specials. The bouillabaisse was hands down the best I’ve ever had. It was so good I had it the second night of our stay as well. My partners meals were just as good on both nights.
Great variety of pub food and friendly service in a cosy, warm atmosphere. Have a decent Kid's meal options too. We will definitely come back again for yummy food
A traditional Aussie restaurant with rustic taste and atmosphere. I had a porterhouse steak with pepper gravy. What a nice steak and chips.
While staying at the caravan park we had drinks and a meal at the hotel. Staff were friendly and service good. Would highly recommend a visit when visiting Port Campbell.
First time visiting and received a warm welcome on entering the bistro. Meal was huge and great value. Fire was roaring and all staff from the gent (Ranga) greeting us to all the staff we interacted with, were fantastic. I'd highly recommend this pub.
What a fantastic little pub, friendly staff great attitude and fantastic meals. Do yourself a favour and try a chefs special they know what they are doing in the kitchen
Lovely place! I’ve been there so many times! Love the food and drinks. There is gluten free options for me (as I’m gluten intolerant) which is nice. I will definitely come back!
Pretty small range of craft beers, but given the size of the town its respectable. Expect Coopers and a couple of others. Food was typical pub food, a good size Chicken Parmy etc at a reasonable price.
Called in for a drink Friday arvo. Rude staff found staff rude and disrespectful wouldn’t go back there again. Country people want you to support them but have never been treated so rude before. Will not return
We had dinner there. Great food. Lifts pub food to a higher level. Good quality food, friendly service, cosy atmosphere. It exceeded our expectations.
Sorry but this hotel was very disappointing. The guy behind the bar was abrupt and in fact quite rude. Ordered a schooner of Carlton Draught and got the shock of my life when I was charged $9.
We headed for the bistro and chose to order “Fresh Fish and Chips with salad” for $28, it was the cheapest meal on a pretty expensive menu.
The food arrived and it was a single measly piece of fish in a very dark batter, lots of chips and a pretty ordinary salad - very disappointing.
We had two meals at this hotel - our first and our last - Never again.
Travelled 3000k to go on our bucket list. The Great Ocean Road. Port Campbell, take a bow. What a beautiful part of the world. The food was wonderful from the Port Campbell Pub. I had the Seafood Fettuccine. It was the best I’ve ever eaten in my life. Staff friendly, really nice pub, really clean and full of atmosphere. Now just to work out how to get that meal sent up here. I so hope to be in this region again in the near future. Minus the cold snap, it doesn’t get cold where I live. Everyone do yourself a favour this is the freshest air, blessed scenery and beautiful people.
Relatively small and a bit old fashion rooms, matress makes noise each time you move and is way too soft.shared bathroom. The door of the room has a window on top that lets the light from the corridor enter the room all night long…
Arrived at the restaurant during peak season. We were greeted abruptly/rudely with "do you have a booking? " We didn't. Was told their would be a table in 50 min which would have been fine. I then asked what GF options were on the menu, as 5 out of 6 of us require a GF diet. Was told (rudely) to look at the menu while man walked away. We walked out. Have never been treated so poorly on arrival.
I usually don't write negative reviews but I hope someone who works in hospitality reads this. Living with dietary restrictions is no walk in the park. 9 out of 10 times we can work something out and accomodate our needs. But it just takes a little kindness and care.
All ended well and we walked across to Waves and got a table immediately with fantastic care of dietary needs
A little kindness goes a long way.
Good range of options - food could be improved.
With limited options during midweek in off season in Port Campbell we gave the hotel a try. Service was decent although not too welcoming as I'm sure staff have to try accomodate a lot of customers at busy times so understand that it's different to your local pub atmosphere at home.
We were unfortunately let down by the pasta as it was over cooked and drowning in the sauce that was a bit too salty for my taste. The curry was ok but did feel like quite a generic takeaway for the price.
We would visit again if we had limited options however will be open to trying different options next time we are in town.
We didn't stay there, just had the best pub lunch ever! Such wonderful staff and the fire places were so cosy and welcoming. Our delicious schnitzel lunch was the best I've tasted. Can't wait to visit again!
Love this place. Found it on our trip from Canada doing a Great Ocean Road trip for my 50th b'day. Service was great, friendly and welcoming staff, but will say I've searched the world for the best Fish and Chips and this place has it. Can't wait to come back. Seriously, If you visit, your life will be complete and have meaning on having their Fish and Chips.:)
We were shocked at how much we loved this clean hotel with great beds and excellent staff. Thankyou Susan
