I saw their Instagram and had to go! Upon arriving the people were so lovely and the place is absolute vibes! We sat in the undercover outdoor area with the sun still shining through was a perfect spot. The food was DELICIOOUS and the staff kept checking on us which we loved. I love when Instagram can capture exactly how the place looks, feels and tastes, not disappointing like most places.

The space is fantastic, loved the outdoor courtyard which was perfect with the outdoor heaters! All the food was very nicely presented and full of flavour. Absolutely loved the coffee too! Would definitely recommend!

Wonderful food and staff seem happy enough. Had to request our order to be taken after a wait but the food was fantastic.

Used to go here when I lived in the area and it’s great to see the cafe still serves quality food but they’ve improved their courtyard - love sort it out there. My favourite dish has to be the salmon soba noodle - seriously tasty and refreshing with a mango smoothie. Have to say our French Toast was also a good order - loves the presentation, delicious flavours with the berries. Highly recommend!

Good coffee, great staff and fantastic food. Their little custard tarts are the best i’ve had, hands down!

Porgie & Mr. Jones is nestled among the leafy suburbs of hawthorn away from the crowd. Loved that they had plenty of options in where to dine - the charming backyard or a classic living room spot. We sat on a table with plenty of shade to enjoy the lovely Australian summer.

? Started off with some smoothies and the peanut butter was a real winner - generous amounts of nuts and chocolate chip intertwined with the smoothie. Mixed berry was less sweet, but I enjoyed the banana and date bits!

Porgie kept the brunch selection simple. I left feeling impressed with execution though. They elevated the scrambled eggs and bread dish with goats cheese and chilli jam which really made the dish very exciting (something to try at home perhaps?). Love love loved the cheesy hash brown - I was told that the chefs make it in house and their efforts really paid off. Portions are also huge - the cheesy hash brown can be shared by two people!

The salmon fritters was enjoyable because of the sweet potato fritters. They kept it chewy on the inside and oh so crispy on the outside - didn’t taste too unhealthy.the cured salmon was quite standard.

Portions were HUGE for the price. I ate at 11 and didn’t need to eat dinner till 8pm! Service was friendly too. They told me that I had to wait about 20 minutes on a weekend for our food (tells you how popular this place is with the locals), but at least it was worth the wait! Would definitely return for those cheesy hash browns:) thanks for the invite ️

This in adorable cafe located in Hawthorn's quieter end. The space (which looks like a former house) features several rooms and a balanced mix of indoor, outdoor and open-air space. I started with an oat coffee and an absolutely delicious peanut butter, chocolate and banana smoothie. It was so rich and enhanced with the texture of peanuts and cacao nibs on top.

To eat, my partner and I shared two dishes. We couldn't pass up the "famous" golden folded eggs, which lived up to their name. The salty goats cheese and sweet chilli jam balanced if perfectly. We also added a cheesy hash brown which was hearty and super flavourful. Our other dish was a much lighter green bowl featuring fresh veg, pumpkin hummus and lots of avocado. It's great on its own but more substantial with the addition of delicious grilled haloumi.

Whether you want decadent, wholesome or both, this spot has delicious cafe fare for everyone. And while some cafes seem overpriced for what you get, this one provides great value.

Located in the busy strip in Hawthorn is this amazing brunch spot! Its a brunch with many rooms, and there is a nice courtyard that is covered which is perfect for the uncertain melbourne weather. Love how they are pet friendly in the courtyard at the back

There was quite alot to choose from i must say and we finally decided on a few dishes. We had the soba noodles, salmon fritters, beef brisket tacos, and french toast.

The soba noodles were an absolute highlight, loved how they combined the soba noodles and zucchini noodles which gives it the different texture and the salmon was cooked to perfection. Loved how it was soft and yummy.

The beef brisket tacos was presented really well and it was good. Really enjoyed the beef brisket and i loved how you get chunks of them in the dish. The salmon fritters was nice and i like how the dish was presented. If you love your sweets, you do not want to go past that french toast. It was perfectly balanced in terms of flavours and i really enjoyed how the ingredients went really well together

Overall, the dishes were quite unique and different from other brunch spots. They were presented very well and were packed full of flavours. The staff were very attentive and our cups of water never went empty. They were also checking to make sure everything was ok

Mr porgie has 4 settings inside with 3 being inside and an outdoor garden. The staff are so friendly and accomodating. Each section of tye cafe is well designed.

Mixed berries smoothie - perfectly made with dried zesty berries on the top.

The soy chai was the right temperature and well made.

The truffle mushrooms were quite impressive as the crispy polenta was crisp, flavourful and byfar one of the best I've tried. The mushrooms paired perfectly with the parmesan. Poached eggs were plump and topped with a thick hollandaise sauce for added flavour.

Soy glazed salmon was tender and seated on soft soba and mixed with edamame and zucchini noodles. Togorashi and miso vinaigrette was the perfect touch to the dish.

The green bowl was one of the best cafe meals I've had in a while. Cracker dish full of flavour. Staff are sweet and the venue is lovely with a gorgeous courtyard out the back.

Reliably good service and amazing food/coffee. Food can take some time if busy - but it is always worth it.

Porgie & Mr Jones has been on the cafe scene for a long time but remains as amazing as ever. Consistency is something that matters to me, and P+MJ never fails to wow me with their coffee and food.

The courtyard out the back is perfect for sunny days, or even rainy days as it is sheltered. My friend and I started off with an excellent cup of almond latte, and a mango smoothie.

I couldn't resist but to order the Porgie Golden Folded. Scrambled egg perfection is what I call this. The softest and creamiest scrambled eggs, paired with chilli jam, goat cheese and herbs, creating a flavour profile that was balanced yet punchy.

The French Toast soaked in vanilla anglaise was simplicity at its finest. Soft, moist and airy, with a lightness that meant I could go for seconds, this French Toast was a delight to eat from start to finish.

The miso vinaigrette really brought out the flavours in the soy glazed salmon with zucchini and soba noodles. It added a umami flavour, one that kept you going back for more. Fresh and light, this is my idea of clean eating.

It is rare that I giving 5 star to coffee shops in Melbourne but this guys really deserve it to get 5 star reviews in Australia's Coffee Capital, what I saw was, very good welcoming, perfect coffee and more important fast service and quick response to new orders, enough waiters, without doubt they are one of the best in Melbourne. I wish they keep it the same forever.

One of our favourite breakfast haunts on a weekend. Even our dogs love the place! We have since moved, but still try to come up on some weekends if we can, just for the wonderful breakfast/brunch menu - it is soooo good! The service is friendly and very efficient, the coffee is brilliant (God we miss your coffee every week!) and the decor is rustic, yet classy and relaxed. If you haven't eaten/drunk coffee there, then you need to.

Although Porgie & Mr Jones has been around for a while, in more recent years it’s been taken over my Luke and Tom who’ve taken it to a whole new level. Previously a quaint, small café - today it has so much more to offer with spacious areas for a diverse range of groups plus the “on trend” eclectic style of inner city decor. This makes it a must visit when in Hawthorn. Today, we sat at the large timber table at the front where light streamed in from the street and we could watch the comings and goings of Auburn Road outside. A steady stream of regulars coming for their coffee/cake fix peppered our dining experience. The menu has an interesting range of choices that are both fresh and seasonal but also in keeping with current trends in cafes that are in abundance in Hawthorn.
With such an inviting place to sit and eat, a place where we can talk without yelling over the café playlist or bad acoustics, we knew we were in for a memorable brunch together. My adult daughter ordered the smashed avocado with feta on the side, and a salad mix of mint, pickled beetroot, cashew dukkah and pomegranates. I had the eggs benedict with slow cooked pulled pork served on red cabbage accompanied with cheesy hash brown, poached egg and hollandaise. I added an extra of side of halloumi and bacon. Add a strawberry milkshake and a chai and we were set for a lovely meal together. The food was good but I have to say that the customer service was outstanding. Every interaction was with a smile and nothing was too much trouble.
For the coffee aficionados – you won’t be disappointed at the ‘boys’ have created their own blend that appears to be popular. The chai was good as was the pot of tea that thankfully was hot! (not everyone makes their tea hot).
There are a number of ‘spaces’ to P&MJ – the front has the original brick building, stripped back to the gorgeous earthy walls. In these two sections are timber tables and chairs, warm earthy tones and artwork that is large but minimalist giving a striking effect. As you walk towards the rear, it breaks into an outside and inside area. The outside is long and narrow opening out to a large rear courtyard with plenty of tables, chairs and space for the kids to play. The inside area stays under the original roofline and is a more intimate place for singles, couples, families and small groups.
It’s often the little things that get places ‘over the line’ for me and today it was the way the outdoor area had been refurbished with clean lines and light colours making it inviting and spacious. A large courtyard area at the rear attracts people who have dogs and apparently, they’ll enter via the laneway to the left of P&MJ to secure their table at the rear and dine under the tappled light of the trees. You can see from the photos that the flower arrangement on the table is also a nice touch of nature and colour to set off the vintage original brick wall. I know this final point may be trivial to some but for me and my kids, it’s important. They use ‘who gives a crap’ toilet paper and ‘thank you’ hand wash. A simple but lovely gesture that tells me they consider the impact they have on the environment.
I would highly recommend Porgie & Mr Jones and look forward to returning again in the future.
Notes: wheelchair accessible, disabled friendly, kid friendly (nice space for them to move around), high chairs available, good parking on Auburn Road and the side streets, dietaries catered for.

Very cute and instantly welcoming environment. Lots of little nookie areas, outside spaces And smiling faces! Great for families and brunch clubs alike. Outside areas are dog friendly!

Really approachable menu with sweet and savory options for all food cravings. Killer scrambled eggs, killer!
Soft and light. Very fluffy!
We also demolished the fritters with a side of halloumi. Their light pillows of soft sweet potato that have a wonderfully complimentary crunch on the outside! An absolute stand out!

The French toast with textures of strawberry was a wonderful way to finish off the meal and we both ended up having 2 oat Magic’s! One over my usual daily quota as it was just very well done!
Sunday Melbourne brunch that didn’t disappoint. Worth every one of the 5 stars!
