Porgie & Mr Jones reviews
82Really loved the outdoor courtyard, and the new menu is super yum, especially the French toast?
A great place if you’re looking for a brunch date spot. With friendly staff and lively pups running around in the garden courtyard, you’ll feel like you are being welcomed into a family home.
Our favourite was the “Porgies Famous Golden Folded” which consisted of soft and fluffy scrambled eggs with chilli jam, goat cheese and herbs, all of which were served on toast. We really loved the chilli jam as it gave every bite a bit of a kick and it had just the right amount of sweetness to complement the cheese.
The Soup of the Day was perfect for Melbourne’s wintery weather and a good addition to our meal.
Alongside these dishes, we also had the mango smoothie and the peanut butter smoothie.
A GREAT BRUNCH SPOT!
We came here on a Sunday afternoon and had a lovely time here! The sunshine was out so we got to sit at the front outside tables (but they also have a lovely and large courtyard for more outdoor dining)!
We had the Crispy Prawn Tacos, Apple Pie French Toast, Mixed Berry Juice and Detox Juice! It was all so delicious and the main dishes we had are something different from other brunch menus which we enjoyed!
The vibe and atmosphere is very chilled and relax! Defs a great spot to catch up with family and friends.and definitely pram and kid friendly!
Staff and customer service we had on the day was excellent and very friendly! They were very attentive too and enjoyed a short with staff!
Highly recommend this cafe!
Waygu burger was very delicious, mango smoothie was unexpected and delightful. Staff was attentive so the overall experience was really awesome
Staff are super friendly and really love that there’s a big courtyard and tables that can also cater to bigger groups.
Highly recommend the baked eggs, super cheesy and delicious
The apple pie French toast is very light and fluffy, not to sweet as well
A truly spacious venue with ample seating indoors or outdoors in their courtyard. Upon asking the waiter what they recommended, I ordered the smashed avo and the french toast with a matcha latte too. I found the smashed avo was nice with the mozarella however, it seemed like would have been better if I included a poached egg with it too. Apple pie French toast was very new to the menu, so I was excited to give it a try. Presentation this dish sure looks pretty when it hits the table. Taste wise this dish was nice however for me a little too many apple elements all together. Would be perfect with another element so the dish doesn't all taste the same. There was talk of possibly a caramel sauce which I think would be perfect and tie the dish together very well.
Overall there's definitely something for everyone on the menu and I recommend attending with friends so can share and try more too.
Staff were friendly, food and coffee was good, but expensive (considering how many optional ingredients there are) and nothing to write home about.
A simple Benedict/omelette with a few options and 10% weekend surcharge can end up being $35, which is pretty steep for what it is.
A great venue with a cool vibe and relaxed atmosphere! Hubby and I loved the coffee and the food was really fresh and delicious. I opted for the Smashed Avocado and hubby had the Angus Burger. We also tried a sweet treat from the display case which was spot on in flavour and size. Would thoroughly recommend ️
Always a lovely cafe to visit! Food is always yummy and the dog friendly courtyard is simple beautiful! We got the famous grilled cheesy toast and added the ham and fried eggs - YUM! And coffee is perfect too. Will be back!
We ate in the covered area at rear.
Very popular- almost full. We were disappointed. Coffee was only warm.
No small cakes or slices on display. Only GF option - GF toast.
Super cute brunch spot in Hawthorne! Lovely service from all the staff members and amazing food!
this cafe has a modern/ minimal aesthetic and surprisingly very spacious inside.the menu had a large range of options, we ordered the salmon soba noodles, Benedict, salad and lastly french toast for dessert.all the dishes were very flavourful and beautifully presented. Great for photos!
definitely recommend if your in the area!
Checking out a local brunch spot and nabbed a gorgeous seat in the courtyard!
We enjoyed coffee and a smoothie before the Benedict and HFC Burger, which is such a big meal! I didn't quite finish all of my fries as I wanted to leave room for dessert.
The Black Forest French Toast is perfect for sharing and finishing off a gorgeous brekkie on a lazy Sunday afternoon!

We had a wonderful experience here a couple of weekends ago. Parking was easy even on a Saturday, the staff served us promptly, and we saw COVID restrictions being observed. I liked the fact that the cafe had several different areas, including a sizeable outdoor courtyard area.
We chose three dishes to try, and all three were beautifully presented and absolutely delightful. I would highly recommend the burger with a double patty for that extra oomph factor. For something sweet, it's hard to looks past the French toast which was golden, fluffy, decadent, and - everything that it should be!
CUTE COZY BRUNCH
This brunch spot has a courtyard area filled with plants? And rays of sunlight ️
Their dishes are also very colourful and nicely plated.
We tried their
- Salmon Soba
- Famous Golden fold
- Black Forest French toast
- Mango Smoothie
- Beetroot cold pressed juice
It was such a great visit and the staff was super nice. Only downside would be the 45 minute wait on food but it was a very busy weekend and good food is always worth a wait

Love this cafe! If you can, make sure you get a spot out in their courtyard. We ordered the salmon & soba, Benedict and frech toast. All super delish and would definitely recommend. A must-visit if you're in Hawthorn
This cafe has a nice outdoor area along with the indoor one: great for any occasion, kids friendly as well. The staff is really nice and very welcoming!
Food is good and the cold drip was terrific. Definitely recommended
Food and coffee are not bad. Staffs are friendly. Good local cafe, but probably won’t travel too far just to go there for brunch.
One of my fave brunch in town, food is consistently good. I loved their Black Forest French toast and sous vide salmon fillet. They are cooked to perfection and delicious. Be sure to check out their beautiful sunkissed courtyard as well
There’s no other way to enjoy brunch than in an open sunny courtyard. Serving breakfast, lunch, sweet treats and some cocktails. Fantastic food and exceptional service made for great bonus points.
We ordered- smashed avocado, black forest french toast, rueben sandwich, matcha latte and mixed berries!
Had the cozy-iest brunch here at their beautiful courtyard. It’s the perfect cafe to go if you want to bask in the sunshine! ️ They have a wide selection of sweet & savoury dishes and all the food I tried were incredibly delicious!
Also love that it’s dog-friendly so I got to eat with many adorable doggos around me?
