Pondok Nasi Bakar

Their coconut milk rice (nasi bakar) was not as expected didn'tlike it at all and it was very dry, it seems like that it was cooked long time ago and was kept aside. The fried chicken was literally deeply fried not recommended, the best that I like was their grilled beef for that I give them 5 on 5. Very clean facility. Family liked their grilled fish too. Plus i don't like their tofu at lol. Some of their foods are sweet, which I don't prefer.

We ordered the sate ayam, iga bakar with nasi bakar and the grilled tilapia/ikan nila bakar. All came out very nicely, will defo come back!

The service is lousy, the rice was about to go off (its sticky and smells bad), the food is way to expensive for its taste (plain taste, the sambal was off), the staff keeps slamming the fridge door with her feet. Not a pleasant place to eat.

I worked in a Javanese restaurant in Jakarta, all cuisines with peanut sauce are famous among the expatriates. And i’ve been to many places in entire Australia, Grilled beef with peanut paste is very rare to find in Indonesian restaurants here, even in Indonesia. Peanut paste is so creamy and taste good, and the Sambal (chilly sauce) isn’t that spicy which is good as too spicy will reduce the flavors in its all food ingredients.

Service was quick. Ambience is nothing special, it isn’t fine dining tho.

I have eaten here before and the quality was great. Not sure why this time it was really unpleasant. Most of the dishes didn't taste quite right e.g. Sayur asem was sweet and the chicken and nasi bakar was off. We let the waitress know and she didn't respond back to our concerns.

Glad that we chanced upon this Indonesian restaurant during our day trip to Geelong. Amazing authentic food and pretty efficient service. I'm particularly impressed by their sambal chili. It was worth it venturing a little further away from the city center and waterfront!

Delicious food all around! We really enjoyed the grilled tilapia, and grilled beef ribs with nasi bakar.

One of my favourite Indonesian food places in the Melbourne/Geelong area - the food is really flavourful and authentic. My personal favourites are the Iga Bakar + Nasi Bakar & Sayur Asem. The extra benefit of having more space in the main Geelong store means you are more likely for them to have seats for you. Would recommend for anyone who likes sweet & savoury food - also spicy for those bold enough to try!

I took my family who came from Singapore and drove all the way from Melbourne to Geelong because I had such an amazing experience last time, but unfortunately this time it was quite the opposite!
We were greeted by a guy who was very rude. When I approached him if he could turn on the heater he told me it wasn't working, then when we ordered and prepaid the food he brought the drink Soda Gembira without even mixing, brought out a drink without even making it properly, I asked for the straw and the staff replied they didn't have any. On the other hand another family came and they were treated so nicely and were brought everything to the table, without even prepaying! Also when I saw the drinks it was mixed and properly made with straws! And when I confronted them they said they didn't know they had straw! Pathetic and utterly disgusting.

What a find! First time visiting Geelong and whilst exploring the city - discovered this gem of a place. Large and bright, the food is exceptional and the fiery spice and heat was perfect to warm us up on a cold winter’s day. The food is nicely presented and generous in portion - their rice in banana leaf with anchovies (Nasi bakar) was the perfect accompaniment to their spicy chicken. Service is friendly and if your are unfamiliar with Indonesian food - they’ll explain it all to you. And pricing is reasonable - judging from the other patrons (lots of Indonesians), this is a regular hangout for good Indonesian food.

Love this place, food is on point, authentic taste. Friendly staffs.
One thing I would improve is that, foods could be a lot warmer. Some of our food that came were not warm/hot.

Other than that, everything was delicious!

Food is delicious. There is slight delay on my food, but understood they are abit short handed and there are unexpectedly a lot of people who are dining in. Yummy nasi bakar. I can smell the banana leaf fragrant on my rice
