Elegant. Classy. The ideal Gala Dinner venue. Good food and excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and with the clear acoustics we danced the night away.

Had my sister's wedding here and wow the venue was amazing, the staff beyond helpful and accommodating then the food for catering for 400 people I must say the first time I have had a top quality meal at a large function.

The Mariner Group run an excellent establishment. 2nd time there. Same 5star standard. Plaza is the goto for corporate or other major events. Intimate yet seats 600+. Food and wine are great. Service from staff is of a high calibre in one of Melbourne's premier rooms.

This ballroom underneath the Regent Theatre is spectacular. It has the most beautiful ceiling with stenciled and patterned rafters and rich jewel coloured paintwork.
The shape of the ballroom is reminiscent is those old 30's movies showing nightclub interiors with a higher level entrance and a cloistered balcony surrounding the entire room, filled with tables, and lots of stepped areas leading to a sunken floor. The dance floor is generously sized and surrounded by more tables and there is also a raised traditional procenium stage for bands etc.
It is a very special space for special events.

The venue looks prestige and glorious but the service and managers are far from professional.

Attended a wedding there recently and from the moment I walked in two security guards standing at the door.although they were nice are they trying to be intimidating? I'm going to a wedding not a night club.

As we sat down we were instructed we could only order our drinks from one waitress who was obnoxiously rude, assuring us she has been trained to deal with people like us.who are people like us? Was I at the zoo?

The seafood and antipasto was the only delicious part of this menu. The main course of fish and beef was an over the top main course which merely looks appealing but in retrospect utterly terrible with over the top Garnish and over exadurated menu description.

The venue wasn't allowed any music until 10.30 PM, I don't understand the feesability of allowing a wedding at a theater if the music was restricted? Are you purposely scamming people? Do you not include this in your descriptions on the contracr?

During the function the floor managers were of no help to sort out several issues which ultimately led majority of the guests to leave this venue.

I do not reccomend this venue. It's simply not structured for a wedding for more than 30 people.

The place may seduce you with the ornate decorative aesthetic, but dont be fooled, this place is a joke of hospitality!

Service was incredibly poor and devilishly inhospitable. Waitress and floor manager were rude, obnoxious, self righteous and completely dismissive of the occasion. Being a wedding, drinks were supplied by the host, but had to be served by the venue staff (a requirement for RSA apparently). We were ordered to remain seated in order to be served a drink and when we ordered, drink service was purposely slow to "control" our consumption. Drinks came watered down and with conditions that they are drunk slowly (despite yhe fact they were mostly water and ice).

Attitude of the service staff was absolutely disgusting! We were trying to enjoy a wedding but the venue is run by fascists.

Our table was very quickly refused service on the whims of the staff, despite the fact no one had yet been able to drink due to difficulties described above. Claims from staff were "we're trained to deal with people like you" and "we're fine if you all leave" was insanely arrogant and completely dismissive of the fact we are guests of their client (who was later furious that the venue is refusing their guests drinks at their childrens childrens wedding). No one had been able to drink, let alone be drunk enough to warrant refusal of service. There was NO attempt to fix the situation so a few tables just got up and left in thr middle of the wedding.

Food was quite poor. Rubbery and flavorless meat, soft squishy seafood. No music is allowed until after the theatre is done, which means theres only elevator music until 10.30pm. So essentially, this place does not allow music or alcohol at a function- consider if your function needs either of these items.

Not an appropriate place for a function. Do yourself a favour and steer clear.
