Playhouse reviews
36The Playhouse is the actors theatre of the art centre. Great sightlines and a feeling of intimacy always make it a pleasure to sit in.
Always love going to the Art Centre with the kids, the staff are fantastic, very helpful. The only recommendation is to take your own food as (as expected) all of the food / snack options there are very expensive, especially when you have a few kids. The atmosphere is brilliant!
Lovely place and staff are friendly and understanding if you give them the same love back. Would go to see a show again.
Lovely theatre. This visit " Lady in the Van" starring the talented Miriam Margoles.
Most enjoyable.
Went to see The Lady in the Van. The play was excellent. It had a wonderful cast who all did a marvelous job. The staff were helpful and friendly.
A great venue in which to watch live-shows.
Seating and sound quality are excellent.
Patrons need to be aware though that ice creams that may be purchased before the show or at interval cannot be taken into the theatre which I found frustrating, given those for whom I had purchased one needed to come out into the foyer at interval.
Saw the show 'Briefs " excellent
Playhouses staff all friendly and extremely helpful. A fantastic experience,!
Still a lovely and comfortable venue. The easily available glass of champagne helps set the mood. You then enter the gold leaf encrusted, cave like auditorium for the show. It's a special place.
Intimate theatre, perfect for smaller audiences and great interaction with cast. No such thing as a poor seat. Tiered perfectly.
Just saw Peter Pan gone Wrong. What a laugh. Make sure you get in 25mins early for the pre show laughs.
Nice comfortable seating, with a great atmosphere, plenty of parking very close by but like everything these days you have to pay between 20 to 40 dollars depending on the day and time.
Saw a show recently and seated in the back row. This is a great theatre.large enough for fabulous shows, but small enough to still see every expression and feel a part of it.
Wonderful space to house the best of Melbourne's arts and performance. It's very accessible, even for families with small children.
Lawrence Mooney was fabulous entertainment at The Playhouse Theatre in his roll as Malcolm Turmbull
Playhouse as a theatre is great. Perfect venue for the production we saw - "Peter Pan Goes Wrong". (Hilarious, BTW.)
Parking is an absolute rip off. No other options in immediate vicinity, unfortunately.
Attended for a children's show. Staff very helpful with assisting getting to seats with kids and bringing seat boosters for kids they could see needed them. Surprised how well priced the cafe was, with some great options for kids pre show snacks.
