Pipis Kiosk reviews
45 Went for lunch for two, really disappointed.
Waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Then waited another 20 minutes for our drinks, water for the table and entree.
Then waited another 50 minutes for our main to come out - our main was nice, though the $15 bowl of chips that could be purchased for $4 on the other side of the building from the same business felt like a rip off). During the wait between meals our entrees were not cleared and we were not attended to in any way. No apology was offered when we highlighted the significant wait.
Really disappointing, particularly given the price tag.
There are countless places in Melbourne touting the best fish and chips around, but I have to say that the best I’ve had is here. And by a fair margin too. Everything was outstanding! The potato cakes were a genuine surprise, being fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside, and delicious all the way through. The chips were top notch too, but the real star of the show is the fish! The batter was light and crispy, and the fish cooked just right. This place is worthy of the crown of best fish and chips in Melbourne.
One of the best restaurants in Melb with real value for money. Great attentive service. Intimate unique venue. Great drink menu. Excellent food (cooked by one of the co owners who you can see preparing your food). Just and excellent and unique dining experience.
Tip: Book a window seat at sunset.
Hi everyone,
I Needed WATER as it was an EMERGENCY.
This was the only place that was near by. I walked in politely asked the employee/manger to BUY a bottle of water even if they might of been closed there was still about 15 people inside and his response was “we are done” I said it’s an EMERGENCY he said again we are DONE! That’s fine. You don’t want help another person IN-NEED who wasn’t asking for anything for free just to purchase a bottle of water which you could walk a few steps to the fridge and grab but your DONE! Remember you are in HOSPITALITY and rule one is BE hospitable and most importantly be a human FIRST.
This is NOT a FAKE review check the cameras.
The tall male waiter is extremely rude. This is the third experience trying to enjoy the food here. Every time it fails on service. Never again.
Pros: crispy batter, perfectly cooked fish, great fries. The burger had breadcrumbs and it was served with chips (very good, but I would have preferred fries). Large wedge of lemon and fantastic home made tartar sauce. The location on the foreshore in the less busy part of St Kilda makes it easier to find parking. It would be great in summer to sit on the beach and eat fish and chips because it is beautiful here. The coffee is very good.
Bad: limited seating, park bench only. Not viable to sit outside when it rains (remember, this is Melbourne). No fish selection, Rockling is all that is available. Limited menu. A bit expensive.
Pippins was a new surprise for me. A clever and very well executed menu, prepared and served very well. It was a nice experience of casual or not, as you wish, dining, with excellent food and wine.
A great discovery! Fantastic service and delicious food… will definitely go back. The lamb & pasta were beyond expectations.
Great coffee in a great location. Selfishly I wish they were open more often but everyone needs a sleep in some times
I love this restaurant. It's small, so you need to book. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable. The food is great for lunch or dinner. I highly recommend Pipis kiosk
The dine-in and take-away menus are different, with a limited menu available for take-outs. The fish & chips are only available for take-out. I prefer the battered fish here over D'lish as it is firmer, although it is also saltier.
Stopped by for a coffee on a weekday. The restaurant wasn’t open but looks like a great spot and menu looks solid. Coffee was great.
Stopped by for a quick lunch while riding the bay trail and ordered the Reuben sandwich for $16. Was delicious and filling without being too substantial. The side of seaweed potato crisps was a nice touch.
Elegant casual small cafe. Food was very good but quite expensive. Views of the beach and middle park pier are lovely. Octopus was a little disappointing, a bit chewy
Pipis Kiosk is a great spot to grab a takeaway coffee or small bite to eat whilst at the beach or on a walk. The coffee is good and the food is nice, yet a little expensive.
Through the door and around the back of the kiosk is Pipis Dining Room which we haven’t been too yet but it looks gorgeous, with glass floor to ceiling windows, overlooking views of the beach.
Fish and chips. $23 and $6 for a potato cake. On the pricy side. The potato cake was kinda like mashed potatoes that’s been deep fried. The fish was battered to perfection and it tasted scrumptious. Chips were kind of soggy though.
We love this place, thankfully we've found it before everyone else has. We know come Summer it'll be hard to get into. Service & food is amazing.
Had a perfect Sunday lunch here, food was amazing and the location overlooking Kerford Road pier and the bay is truly special for Melbourne. I love the small dining space, it feels very intimate and relaxed. We sat and had a long 3 hour + lunch and didn’t get moved on by the waiters which was great. I will definitely be back for dinner soon.
Got overcharged comparing what’s on the board. Man working was too Sassy and gave me attitude when I asked what the pastry was so too scared and anxious to double check the total
Good location and nice view. Freshly made fish and chips. Good tasting dipping sauce and sauerkraut.
