Pipers by the Lake reviews
90Beautiful setting by the lake but they ran out of wine glasses which was odd given it wasn't a full house. Not a huge menu.
Warm and cosy cafe in the middle of the beautiful botanical gardens. A lovely refuge from the cold weather. Friendly service all round and great presentation of hot drinks. Coffee was a little burnt though maybe we just got unlucky.
I've had varying service but seems to have got themselves organised which is great. Also like the staff and that they'll make an effort with people with different needs.
Nice place but very noisy.service was poor.no welcome or greeting or even hello.no hows the food.or.thanks for coming. The two of us felt like we were an inconvenience.one waiter had a sour face, never smiled and basically ignored us. Ver dissapointing after reading good reviews. Tuesday 3May for lunch.not again
The fish and chips were so good there. I've been there a couple of times now and the service and food quality is always good and amazing and very tasty. Great portions of food to.
Food was delicious and hot, eating outside with furry friend, was a bit chilly. Prices were good too.
Good place nice service and a very convenient place accessible for walking after the meal.enjoyable place to be.
Pipers Kiosk on the Lake
** Note - This is the kiosk & not the cafe, unsure if they’re owned by the same person or work in conjunction with each other.
So it’s Begonia Festival week & a chance to get tourists back into this great place.
After standing in line for 15 minutes to order 3 coffees I was met with only two people working in the kiosk (on one of the busiest weekends of the year). And not only that but the one who was taking the orders was also having to get ice creams in between orders! The barista looked like it was the last place she wanted to be & was beyond slow, taking a ridiculous amount of time. And to top it off the coffees were luke warm despite requesting them to be extra extra hot.
Very disappointing! Tip for them; get more staff & get a barista that knows what she’s doing & shows some interest!
Kiosk to buy my daughter's dog some water to drink. Surprised to find doggie treats available. Cool
We had a nice lunch and the picture is my cup of hot chocolate. Friendly staff and reasonable price.
Slow and baffling. With a large number of staff visibly present and a leisurely turnover of tables it took a strangely long time for anything to happen here. Being seated arrival of 2 coffee, ordering and arrival of food all took vastly longer than seemed possible. A simple substitution (they had run out of something) caused the rest of my order to be cancelled somehow. Truly bizarre. Decent view, but they need some management. Sandwich was ok.
Three stars given based on slow service, temperature and the annoying sound of the door to the kitchen slaming shut every few seconds. Food was delicious, large portions.
Did speak with staff and expressed concerns for how cold it was inside and noted the door closer really should be replaced. She said it couldn't be fixed.
This is a quaint heritage building in an ideal location on the shores of the lake and across the road from the Botanical gardens.
The service when we were there was very attentive and helpful. The quality of the food is very good, although not exceptional, especially given the price.
If you're looking for a pleasant meal in a great location, this is the place.
We had a beautiful birthday lunch today. The food was exquisite but the thing that made the day immensely enjoyable was our outdoor server Brayden. He was such an attentive waiter and made sure we had a drink the whole time, which was appreciated on this warm day. His personality was so much fun and he kept us quite entertained. Will be coming back! Thanks Brayden.
Need real need to listen to customer order's and learn there is no mac Donald closing pushing customer s out at 2.30
Come on Ballarat Tourism
Expensive. I mean expensive. Stupidly expensive. 2 soft drinks (330 ml) and two Yo Yo biscuits $22.50. And this from the take away kiosk - not the sit down. Hmmm. Yesterday at another cafe in regional Victoria 2 drinks and 2 ice creams under $10. Oh and shutters pulled closed at 2.48pm. Young staff must have had a party to go to.
Not a bad place coffee nice but their large is a regular shame. The swans want your food and are a bit aggressive at it will hiss ect location grate staff nice
I really enjoyed my lunch at Piper's.
I chose the Barramundi, Greek Salad, and chips
Which cost nearly $30, and I wasn't disappointed
The service was quick and friendly, and not to mention the food was tasty.
The Cafe itself is beautifully positioned next to the western side of the lake, giving the option to eat either outside or inside.
My review is purely for the horrific customer service. Ordered a black coffee from the kiosk, Saturday 9 Oct at 1.15pm, with a dash of milk, waited about 15 mins - that's fine, they were busy, however my order had no milk, that's fine mistakes happen! I enquired as to if it had milk, both workers ignored me - no problem, must be the noise and my mask! So I asked louder, ignored. I waved my arm to get attention and see one of the workers was pouring milk into a cup and then just slid it across to me. No acknowledgement that I had even spoken! Just disgusting. I proceeded to try to get his attention AGAIN as I needed coffee removed in order to PUT my milk IN my coffee as ordered and again not ONE word of acknowledgement, just grabbed my cup and dumped some out in sink and slid cup back. So I said "it would be lovely if you actually spoke to your customer Then I know you have heard me! " His rude colleague looked at me and said "It's very loud in here you know! " I said "I understand that but he heard me didn't he as he got me the milk while still ignoring me". She then snarked back, "how do I know what he heard? " Rolled her eyes at me and turned away. Wowsers! Customer service needs a huge overhaul! Acknowledge and talk to your customer. I'm not setting a high bar here!
Super slow service - 20 minutes plus for a coffee and a scone to go. The scone was average with nowhere near enough jam and cream to top it.
