Pioneer Settlement reviews
90Very over priced. Was not happy to pay $$$ for 2 people. It was a very nice place to go, there is a lot to see. I did get stuck talking to the black smith, I was there taking pictures and didn't want to talk too much as it was also hot. I spent about 15mins talking to him, he was nice though. My son seemed to enjoy himself, looking at all the things going on. It was really good that you could actually go into buildings and get personal with the whole place. Will be coming back again for sure when my kids are older. Hopefully price will go down by then though!
Excellent for value and experience. Authentic and hands on. Go for horse and cart ride, or ride in the early model Dodge car. Volunteers are friendly and knowledgeable. We would gladly recommend anyone visiting Swan Hill to visit here.
It's was fantastic! Once your in you get a stack of free experiences like horse and cart ride, vintage car ride, rope making.kids loved it!
Absolutely amazing experience, we learnt about black smithing, how to make butter, how to make robe and about the history of our land, and aboriginal culture, was also an amazing experience to see the night light show where we learnt about the Dreamtime story of the Murry and about the pioneer settlement and how it came to be during the great race.
Great day out looking at what it was like in the Pioneer days. The light and laser show topped it all off. A must see.
I loved it. Its compact, have plenty of old style attractions. One thing to improve is to have more period dressed actors.
Arrived at 8.45 show didn't start until 9.30 and finished at 10pm. The show was great thoroughly enjoyed it. My only complaint would be the final comments at the end of the indigenous part of the show "then came the white man".
Place has been updated since last time there. Weather was hot so not to many people there. Did the 3 in 1 package loved the night show, very well done.
Absolutely Spectacular! Friendly staff and an amazing show! MUST SEE when in Swan Hill. Perfect for kids too!
We had alot of fun went for a cruise along the river plus had an horse and cart ride and a ride in an old dodge xx
Great Experience, School Class, Aboriginal culture class, butter making /tasting with damper, car & horse rides.
Looked good from the outside but you must joking with the admission prices! There were three vehicle loads of people that turned up when we did, they saw the prices, like we did, and all got back in their vehicles and left.like we did.
Very disappointed! No atmosphere and very boring. We attempted to have lunch at the cafe inside however at midday they only had one pie and one sausage roll on offer️. If we wanted anything else we had to wait more than 20 mins for them to cook more food.
This place has so much potential but clearly it has been let go.
Interesting place with good amenities, food was very reasonably priced and wow the night laser show is excellent
Paddle steamer cruise is also worthwhile and completes a good day out
Fantastic. Could spend all day there. Great to see how our parents operated way back then. Good old hard workers.
Asked if wheelchair friendly told yes got its not got bogged couldn't get into 90 % of activities
We took 3 ticket pass - pioneer settlement, heartbeat of Murray and steam cruise ride. All these 3 are mandatory actives to do. We spend 2 full days - 1st full day for pioneer settlement, 2nd one for steam ride and food and laser show. This is really great place with good staff.a must visit.
We had two days in Swan Hill. It was suggested that we visit the Pioneer settlement. Pleasantly surprised by what was there. We purchased the three ticket pass. Pyap river cruise entry to the settlement and the highlight, the laser light show. Absolutely fantastic cannot explain it, and all three were very good value. We went back on day two to finish off the site. Absolutely worth every cent.
Very disappointed I had run prior to travel to book for the paddlesteamer trip to be told on arrival it was not running - in the end did a trip at echuca
My wife and I spent at least half the day there just walking around looking inside all the buildings. It is very fascinating looking at all the old implements as I really enjoy looking at our past history. It is recommended to visit here if you appreciate past times. The buildings are well situated and the volunteer staff are very helpful with good information
