PHO Dakao Hoang

I usually come to this restaurant just for one dish and that is broken rice. Every other dish is mediocre.
Customer service is quite poor but they didn’t seem to care. As long as their restaurant is up and running.
Overall, you don’t come here and ask for service. It’s simply to satisfy your belly and go home:)
Recommend dish: broken rice- make sure you ask for your soup since they don’t just automatically bring it out to everyone.

Ordered salt and pepper squid entree which is supposed to come out first then was get combination with rice my wife ordered pork on rice and I asked for a coke zero yesterday normal coke came out first I didnt complain it was hot yesterday then came my wifes food she was almost finished then the combination with rice came out I asked wheres the entree she took the food away my wifes Vietnamese she said they were talking and saying that I said I didnt order the combination with rice which was in true I was hoping my entree would come first but then she brought combination with rice back out she showed me the paper and said look you ordered it I said yes I did she then said why did you say no I said I didnt I only asked wheres the entree that should be brought out first then had both plates put down in front of me she said sorry I thought the french conquerored the Vietnamese I thought the word entree would be understood I wasn't rude maybe I was expecting to much squid was nice combination with rice was a bit dry

Ordered 100 Spicy salt & pepper chicken ribs w rice $16 and it came with 5 ribs, idk what to think. Value for money or not?

Tasty food and great service here. Compared to the food back in my home country, I would say they season everything very well!

Have been eating here for over 10 years!
Food dishes are still amazing. My go to is lemongrass chicken on rice and dried egg noodles with chilli spicy chicken ribs.
Have never disappointed.

I recently came back from vietnam and I can honestly say, the food is still better here.

Extremely fantastic Vietnamese food, very kind owner, and prices that seem to be stuck in time. What excellent value for already exceptional food!

I so rarely leave negative feedback, but after experiencing the same inadequate service back to back, I have to update my review.

Ever since this place renovated a few years ago and the original owner returned, the food, service, and atmosphere have severely dropped.

The prices have increased, the portions are much smaller, and the food quality isn't really there anymore. Newer staff cannot properly note down orders or remember simple requests even during quieter days.

I had dinner with friends, and 3/4 of us received our dishes within 10-15 minutes. Waited for the last dish for more than 30 minutes and by then, it still hasn't come out. As 3/4 of us has already finished our meals, understandably our 4th friend had lost their appetite and asked for the dish to be a takeaway. By the time we went to pay, it still wasn't ready.

Sure, you can blame it on inflation and rising costs, but there's an abundance of similar asian restaurants in Springvale who are in the same boat, but are actually delivering on food quality and service.

You as a business should not hide behind these easy excuses. Take some responsibility, better support your staff, and just do better.

Until then, this once-loyal customer won't be returning.

We’ve come here several times and we absolutely love it! Love the special fried rice, the lemon chicken and of course, the pho!

My favourite Vietnamese restaurant since my childhood - the tripe pho and bánh xèo are incredible. Also love the large range of drinks on the menu:)

If can give -star. I will.waiting food too long.even the boss very rude if we ask how long the food will be ready? Not recommended

The store has been renovated since the last time I ate here. It looks really nice from the outside. The food has gotten worse, and the forks and spoons were dirty, too. After we ordered, we waited 20 minutes until they let us know that they lost our order, so we had to order again.

This dish was done well.

Special Broken Rice
The egg meatloaf tasted old, and pork was probably undercooked. Usually, the pork chops you get are a lot darker.

Shredded Pork Rice Paper Roll
The edges of the lettuce were rotting away, but still used in the rolls. There was some kind of plastic-like material in the rolls, but I’m not sure what it really was.

Spicy Salty Chicken Rib Dry Noodles
This dish was done well apart from the presentation. The dish it was served in was dirty on the sides, and had garnishes stuck on the rim of the bowl, but that was the only thing wrong with it.

Black Bean Chicken with Rice
The carrots were hard. I thought that maybe the chef preferred to not overcook vegetables, but the broccoli was very overcooked. The vegetable to meat ratio was so high that it was like eating a black bean salad. I’ve also never eaten Black Bean Chicken with both brown and black beans in, but maybe it’s a Vietnamese take on the dish. I’m not sure.

Another freezing day in November so we decided Pho for lunch was a must. Plenty of tables with space to move this popular restaurant was our choice. 3 serves of number 36 - Beef and Brisket Pho with basil, bean shoots, chilli and lemon made for a perfect lunch. $16a bargain.

Delicious food. Generous servings for Vietnamese place although most is mainly rice. Ordered the lemongrass chili chicken with red rice. Very delicious. Service was ok. They got a item wrong but fixed it without question. Not everything on the menu was available. Strange to eat from such a large plate in an Asian restaurant. I suppose you need to attract westerners. Very happy and my two teenagers enjoyed their meals.

Not worth a visit. Staffs were extremely rud and slow. They were talking to each others and have no passionate in doing their job. The food was acceptable, a hair was found inside the dish but the manager seem do not care.

Ordered the chicken Salt pepper ribs with tomato rice. Was recommended to come here because they make it super juicy and give you big pieces. Was not wrong, came out massive and was not dry. It was lacking a little flavour but was told from a frequent customer this was the only time they did it like this. Will come back and try it again next time along with other dishes.
Other dishes looked amazing.

We have been to Dakar Hoang many timesmans the food has always been great. Tonight our issue was the service. Three of us for dinner. One meal coming at a time. We were almost done with the entire night before our rice arrived. 4 waitresses and a word to the manager before the rice finally arrived. Took nearly 2 hours to get rice.
Worst service I have ever experienced anywhere

Love this place every since I was a kid, still great food till this day and I always somewhere I go back too each time I'm in Melbourne. Massive selection, big serving and fantastic flavour
