Phat Yaya's reviews
51We came to Phat Yayas tonight for a quick dinner. Food was amazing. The owner was lovely, super friendly, and even gave us additional food and hung around for a chat! Great vibe, definitely coming back!
Yeah look, food was pretty average for the price. The coleslaw was too saucy and the lamb and chicken was pretty sad looking and lacking in volume.
A bit of a shame.
The food was really nice and well put together, really tasty, enjoyed the experience, 10/10 will come again.
Ordered on menulog, no phone call if driver was lost, marked as delivered, no food arrived and can't reach the store to communicate the concern. Could only leave a message and at this stage no return phone call.very disappointed.
Absolutely shocking! NEVER order from here, constantly get my order wrong! Owner rude when called to complain! Such a shame maybe should hire someone who reads the dockets or takes orders properly
ORIGINAL REVIEW 2 YEARS AGO - READ BELOW. Just had the onion rings and the crispy pork pita. Have to say - I am super super impressed. Ratios in the pita were just right - did not skimp on the meat which was well seasoned, had crispy bits, lots of veggies and lots of sauce. Pita was warm and fluffy. The onion rings were crispy and fresh out of the fryer. I don't know anything about this place, or what its background is, but it tastes like what you would expect out of an owner who really digs his/her food and opened something for the love of it. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.
*EDIT - NEW OWNERS POST COVID. Completely new restaurant. Not the same. Not as good. Bread is now Coles bread. Meat is reheated. Onion rings are store bought, frozen and reheated. I feel sad because it's clearly just one guy that has bought over the business and trying to make it work, but everything that made this place special is just gone.
Food was amazing
Great customer service too!
I was so thirsty and couldn’t afford a drink. When I came to pick up the food, the owner gave me a large bottle of water. It was such a lovely gesture and a great reminder there are still nice people around!
We used to get Phat Yayas weekly and loved it. However the last two orders over the last 6 months have been really disappointing. After the first bad experience, we decided to give it another shot, but unfortunately the Siagon Pork Soulaki (which used to be so delicious) ended up being thrown in the bin again.
Unfortunately the food wasn’t as good as I hoped it to be. The food didn’t stand out at all. The chicken was from Coles, coleslaw was bland and the only dressing you get with it is a quarter of a lemon. The chips on the other hand were quite delightful, with it being light and crispy and the environment was also nice. But the food has a lot of room for improvement.
Do not recommend this place! This is the worst souvlaki I’ve ever had. There was no meat in the souvlaki for the money we spent on it. The food was cold when they served it to us! Very disappointing and will not be going back there.
We dined here a couple nights ago. The chicken was absolutely terrible. A souvlaki should have grilled, marinated chicken.
The chicken was bland and was boiled chicken parts. Couldn’t even tell which part of the chicken it was! We had one bite and couldn’t eat the rest. What a disgrace to Greek cuisine.
Used to be the best in town. Amazing food with all the toppings! Now I don't even get a slice of lemon for my chips and the condiments on the ysp where on point. My sald.might has well have given me the whole plant to cut up.sorry guys but I feel like you've dropped the ball recently. Hope you get back to the standard you used to hold your slef to.
If I could give 0 stars I would.
Cold, soggy, stale. Worst souvlaki I've ever had.
Don't waste your money.
Sorry but my delivery of the lamb box was truly disappointing and 80% inedible. For such an expensive meal, half the box was a basic coleslaw with no flair; the chips were inedible as they were completely soggy from the coleslaw juice, and the meat was about 10% of the entire box, and what’s worse was that it was dry, no flavour; like eating cardboard. First and last time ordering from here. This meal ended up in the bin.
Got about 50 cents worth of lamb that had no flavour, the "tzatziki" was just Yoghurt with a strand of dill.
Admittedly the chips were delicious and the pita bread was super soft.
The service was good too.
I think if they lift they're game with the meat quality and flavour they'd be kicking goals.
But for now it's a PHAT no for me
Delivery time is always as advertised.
Unfortunately today an item was forgotten, I did ring to be told a driver would drop it off but this never occurred.
Otherwise we always enjoy the food.
I've had some great experiences with Phat Yaya's vegan souvlakis but sadly of late have had a couple of not so great ones too. The most recent time, the fried cauliflower souvlaki had no sauce on it, and the cauliflower was soggy.
Onions rings seem to be inconsistent too and have recently been undercooked and over salted (too salty to eat - and I love salt). Basically, used to be a huge fan but recently noticed the quality has been inconsistent. Looking forward to returning soon and hopefully being able to bump up the stars!
Don’t bother wasting your money. $30 for a lamb box, lamb was bland and dry and some chips and salad. $19 for a chicken souvlaki, bread tasted like 3 days old, barely any chicken and again, not that tasty. $8 for onion rings which were the best part of the meal. Needless to say, $57 for 2 takeaway meals is shocking, especially when it was rubbish.
Will definitely not be back. Rip off.
I’m so glad i found this place.it’s so good i think i’ll come here from the city every once in a while for the good food and the AMAZING staff.the food is so filling and there’s plenty of vegan options, the place is so clean and staff members are so hardworking helpful and friendly! Halal food too, so much variety.super happy with my experience and would like to thank restaurant staff <3
Purchased chicken souvlaki and lamb. They both had no taste. Was more salad than meat. Lamb was tender but tasteless and barely warm and the chicken souvlaki had dry horrible chicken bits of which was mainly salad also. Had been here before pre lockdown was much better but today was a waste of $70. Won't be coming back.
