Peko Peko reviews
76 I am going to say this with all my love: the food is one of the best I had in Australia, but if it was in Taiwan, it would've been just pretty okay (還可以). It definitely does hit the spot though, as a Taiwanese person who hasn't been home for 4 years. And I have to give props to the interior design. It reminds me a lot of the old streets (老街) in Taiwan and made me terribly home sick.
I would definitely come back like every week. It's great comfort food - but not necessarily my type of Taiwanese food.
Consistently well cooked and flavoured dishes. I've been back for many meals over the last 10 years with family, friends and colleagues. Never disappointed with their offering and service.
$5 for babycinno.
Tried talk to the staffs, and said is make sense
They even no price tag on the menu, they could charge whatever they wanted.
This isn’t authentic Taiwanese and for it to be labeled a Taiwanese restaurant agonizes my core.
I ordered the pork mince rice, the staple to grade the standard of any Taiwanese dish and it was, eh. First off, the usage of long grain rice for any Taiwanese dish is blasphemy in my opinion. Where was the fluffy short grain rice that homogenised with the pork mince? Sure, what’s the difference between long and short some might think, but that is the staple to Taiwanese dishes; fluffy rice. Mustard greens has no kick to it either
The saving grace was the Wasabi mayo prawn with pineapple, that was nice albeit not quiteTaiwanese but I’ll let it slide since it was the saving grace for the two stars for food.
The mother in laws egg was… eh. Sprinkled with too much tempura flakes.
The matcha ice cream with pancake was good.
Overall, it was disappointing to see that this is what Melbourne calls “Taiwanese”.
All the best in the future.
First time in Peko Peko and you have to go! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. The combo of Pop Chicken & Sausage Fried Rice is to die for. Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in.
We ordered their popular dishes: Pop Chicken, Sausage Fried Rice, Beef Noodles Soup and Bang Bang Beef. Everything was FIRE! All the food we tasted melted in other mouths.
The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed and gave us an amazing experience. Highly recommend!
To Peko Peko Team, thanks for lovely service on Saturday night. We really enjoyed it.
This place is a scam. They robbed you by charging $5 per Babycino. Very disappointed with the double soy latte, understand the actual meaning of latte but it is basically a bigger soy cino. Would only recommend the pop chicken however it is slightly over priced compare to what is out there.
Exceptional. We ordered around 8 different dishes between the 3 adults and 2 kids. Every dish was simply fantastic. If I had to pick one, the Staff Meal was the stand-out - so simple, but so delicious…
Sausage rice is very nice Taiwan beer with sour plum - this combination is awesome - freshness with a bit sourness and sweetness
Hands down, Peko Peko has to be one of the best restaurants in Melbourne! Every time we eat here the food is delicious and consistent. The staff are also really friendly. Love the Ma Ma Custard fried chicken!
Had the best chicken here! We ordered the popcorn chicken. It was a long wait but so worth it.
The Singapore noodles were standard, their fried rice was unique.
I’d come here again. Make sure you book as it does get busy early during dinner.
We came here today for the first time. The food was delicious and was served very fast. However the customer service was terrible. The waitress with glasses kept rushing us. We sat down waiting for a friend not even for 5 mins, she already came twice to take our order. We didn't even have time to read through the menu properly. It was very stressful. Same thing with collecting plats. We were still eating.she came and grabbed the plats without asking if we finished yet. We didn't enjoy her service at all.
Soft shell crab seafood brown fried rice was excellent! Their pop chicken was also very good.
This is my favourite restaurant in the whole world, perfect when you're very hungry and you can't wait to eat, or when you're in a rush and you need food quickly. Just make sure that you book a table as it gets very busy. It's a very small restaurant. The Taiwan sausage fried rice is their best dish in my opinion.
If you know what you want to eat, there will be food on your table within ten minutes. Amazing!
A little cute cafe. Taiwan fusion menu. Satay beef fried rice and Taipei Brew Beer is a Must try.
Great food, comes out fast. Small restaurant and can be very noisy. If going as a group of three you are put on tables that are only designed for two people. So very squishy, and I would advise against sharing meals.
Peko Peko consistently serves high quality, delicious Taiwanese food. The flavours and options available are great. Some of their signature dishes are the wasabi mayo prawns and pop chicken, the new ma ma custard chicken is also excellent. I go here whenever I am in South Melbourne
Totally heartfelt and delicious Taiwanese food. We went here almost every week when we lived nearby, and still try to visit when we can even though we live on the other side of the city. One of my favourite Melbourne eateries for sure!
Have been to peko peko multiple times and it never disappoints. Great food and great prices. Highly recommended.
Sausage fried rice is amazing and even more exquisite than the authentic Taiwanese fried rice.
Another Satay beef fried rice is just normal flavour with beef mince without any surprises.
Buzzing with diners when we arrived. Fortunately, it was a Thursday and a table was available. Had our usual volcano chicken which was slightly spicy but delicious and some carbo in the form of the Taiwanese sausage fried rice and vermicelli. The portions look a tad smaller than last time, perhaps the result of “shrinkflation”.
