Pastuso reviews
52We had never tried Peruvian food before and booked a table based on other's reviews. The food was excellent, service was awesome. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant to try Peruvian food.
We went to Pastuso to have lunch, 3 adults and a baby. Amazing experience! The food was delicious! We shared a few small plates and have mains and dessert and was all perfect! Sizes are perfect too.
Super friendly and kind staff; thank you to Javiera for all the information about food to my Australian husband and friend with every single dish and for taking the time to make my baby boy smile and giggle! Thank you to Flynn for the good vibe and conversations! And to Gabriel for his recommendations and kindness! We are definitely coming back
I have been to Pastuso many times, but my last dinner with special friends wasn’t good. The service was ok. They brought our Entree’s one by one. It’s only three orders, and I don’t think it was fair service. We received our mains late. They served us a dry chicken and not juicy. They would know it’s dry since it’s been sliced before serving. They offered to change the order, but how long would it take again to wait for another order? Still, we paid for the chicken.
Sensational experience. Food was brilliant, service was sensational, ambience great. Certainly the type of place that gives Melbourne such a good name for cuisine and experiences. I cant remember a restaurant where everyone I was with left saying how good everything was, they did here! Go one of the banquets
My husband and I had lunch here.the food was absolutely sensational.the flavours were amazing.and our young waiter was excellent. Highly recommend the red snapper and also the beef wagu skewer
It’s like stepping into a different world where food and countries collide, professional and chill vibe.
We always spent a lovely night at Pastuso, the food was delicious, but this time thanks to Javiera we spent and amazing time, thanks for your attention
We enjoyed the Father’s Day feast delivery to the Mornington Peninsula. We have had a number of home delivery meals from other Restaurants during the lockdown but we can honestly say this was the best ever. Each course was excellent and the heating and serving instructions very easy to follow. We have dined in and will do so again when we open. Thanks guys, Trudy
We had dinner at Pastuso tonight and extremely disappointed as we sent back the goat dish due to it being very very over salted that you couldn't even taste the chili rub or anything besides salt. Even the accompanying vegetables were oversalted. When we got back the bill we were told that because it's an expensive dish (which we only ate 90% of it because of the overseasoning!) the manager still charged us the full $44 and only offered to take off dessert which was around $10. This is extremely bad practice and we won't be dining here again or recommending it to anyone.
The food was great, really beautiful flavors with real care and attention to the balance and presentation.
The service was good but the waitress was a little too pushy on trying to sell alcohol.
Also, the quantity of food was almost right but it felt a little underwhelming at times considering the cost of the fixed price banquet.
I would definitely recommend eating here and will be back.
If you are okay with your meal being a little more on the pricey end I cannot recommend Pastuso enough. Their dishes are vibrant, fun and not your standard affair. This might be my favourite restaurant in Melbourne. Every time I visit I leave wanting to recommend it to more people.
If you are looking for a remarkable experience, you need to go to this place. Apart of yummy and tasty foods, customer services will make you feel so comfortable and enjoyable. Big thanks to Jack who did a perfect job.
Thanks
Had a meal at the restaurant with a group of 5. The restaurant has quite good reviews so its unusual to me how lacklustre our experience was.
Some dishes were quite nice and others were pretty average so perhaps we picked the wrong dishes. We were seated in the back where it was extremely dark (we were using our phone lights to see the menu) and all the lights had a red glow so it felt a bit like a red light district. Service from waitresses was pleasant.
Nice dishes:
Pastel de Choclo - nice and subtle sweet
Rump and tuna skewers - nicely grilled, smokey and tasty
Average dishes:
- Calamar a la parilla - pretty small dish without much on it. Flavour was fine.
- Ceviche snapper - I understand this is a signature dish here soo surprised that the flavour was soo fishy.
- Tiradito de Corvina - once again, it was quite fishy! Maybe we got the dishes at the end of their cycle.
Dissapointing dishes:
- El Pollo - this chicken was very dry. Sauce was nice but overall, quite overcooked and flavourless. Better off with Nandos/Woolies chicken.
- Solomillo - first time eating aged steak. Honestly.a very tiny steak for its very large price of $110 and quite boring in its presentation and flavour. This was probably the most disappointing dish we had.
Anyways, there seems to be consistent good reviews of the restaurant so maybe it was an off night for us. Feel free to try it yourself.
Kind of.disappointing considering all the rave reviews, maybe everyone’s a tourist? Average food with above average price point. Staff were okay. Bathrooms not the best. We were a party of 5 for a birthday and spent over 700$ only to be told we needed to hurry up and leave by the waitress who dropped off a birthday dessert complete with candle - lol, I mean at least let me blow it out before you push us out the door. Happy to have ticked it off the list, but wouldn’t go again.
Good vibes, The service was great, food was presented beautifully and it tasted great! Great wine list, will definitely be back!
Food is amazing, as is the service. The Wagu beef and cerviche is so delicious and a must have, would come back here in a heartbeat, loved it!
Delicious food and loved the pisco sours as well. Great service. We really enjoyed our meal.
Got a bit caught off guard with happy hour only being outside in the terrace, and the public holiday surcharge (didn't know the Saturday of Easter was also a public holiday).
But will definitely go back.and make sure we sit outside for drinks during happy hour!
Amazing service. Kitchy location at the end of an alley. Good prices. Amazeballs food. I wish I could have ordered more but i am STILL trying to lose the iso-weight. I started DM'g pix to my mates as I dined.
Loved this place. The food was delicious and the decor was on point. Will come back here for special occasions.
Edit (1 year later) :
Came back again with 4 friends. Food was still good, prices were ok but the waiters were very very pushy, constantly reminding us we only have the table for 2hrs.
The food the service the drinks and the atmosphere here are always good.pisco sour is a must have starter and the meats, fish and vegetable dishes are different enough to be exciting without being too exotic to scare off the more timid foodies. We love to come here.
