Passing Clouds reviews
51Entered the dining area and sat by the window only to be accompanied by several flies right by our table. Service was poor, our waitress was unenthusiastic and inattentive. The waitress next to our table was full of life and energy. Food was mediocre and our chicken main was overbearingly salty. After reading some reviews, had high hopes but got let down
Amazing wines, amazing service, amazing well thought out food! Left full but not bloated. Chef only works off a fire pit and the mains we received were incredibly well cooked, a true testimony to the chefs talent.
Staff members were very considerate as was the house sheep dog Magnus!
Stunning wines and an excellent experience. Cellar door manager Bern Barry is the David Attenborough of wine.
Wine was lovely but food wasnt great, unfortunately the let down was the hospitality.
It felt everything was too hard and too difficult for simple things we would have thought was an easy request. We asked for the WiFi password to transfer funds and we we're told, No, you'll need to go outside in the rain to get service.
We asked to purchase the most expensive bottle of wine, from the wine list, for my sister's collection to take home and were told No, we can only buy that in the dining room. Asked if we could purchase a wine glass, Also No!
After spending close to $600 And looking a fun day out it became undone very quickly.
Our money would have been better spent elsewhere. Won't be going back or further recommending passing clouds restaurant. Rude staff and really ruined our happy mood.
Great wine - very poor hospitality however which unfortunately tainted the taste and experience.
Lovely winery. Food and dessert delicious! With matched wine and wine tasting with friendly service.
Enjoyed my very first cellar door experience! Best Chardonnay I've ever tasted! So delicious! Brought 2 bottles saving one for Valentine's Day and my Birthday can't wait to open them! Beautiful property and excellent customer service. Relaxed, welcoming and elegant winery. A must visit in the region.
Hard to decide in the wine or the staff had more character. A very special and chilly spot that we hope to return to soon.
Not a great place. The staff were quiet rude to us and the $10 fee for tastings is a rip off.
The establishment also flagged my last review as 'inappropriate' due to my less-than-favorable experience at the place.
The wine was very disappointing.
My friend and I visited for the 3 course lunch, followed by the wine tasting. We loved all courses, the flavours were amazing! The wine tasting to follow topped the day right off in the beautiful setting on the outside decking overlooking the pond and vineyard. The amazing Jo took us through the wine tasting and gave us great company along the way, making the experience that much better! She is a true asset to the venue and I plan to come back! Not to mention we walked away with a few bottles of wine, and will be back for more. Highly recommend this place for anyone enjoys finely delicious food, amazing wine and great friendly service!
Beautiful setting overlooking the vineyard. The outdoor is the pick of the spots. 3 course set menu takes the worry from menu envy. The pate is the starter highlight among a local selection of cured meats, with the chicken the star of the mains. Also savour the pannetone for dessert with a sparkling wine.
Had high expectations after having read the positive reviews and went for the $75 pp menu which was nothing but disappointing in terms of presentation, quality and choice. I get much more variety and better prepared food elsewhere - at a fraction of the cost.
Went for the tasting.unfortunately the cheeseboards were not available due to COVID.and we couldnt dine due to the place being at capacity.however the tasring was top notch.the service was impecable and super freindly.the wines were pretty good although admittedly we did not try the pricier bottles as we are not quite wine conosiouers.
Worth the trip. Had the $15 premium wine tasting. Other than the chardy in the standard list (old school, deliciously buttery) definitely a big step above the regular offerings. Only complaint is they don't charge by the glass if you taste something you particularly enjoy. Otherwise a cute and relatively quiet winery worth the visit.
Beautiful wines and scenery. Staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and very hospitable. Check it out if you’re in the area
Lovely intimate winery. I traveled through in 2016 and purchased "The Angel 2015". Tonight I opened it and from the first sip I straight away knew it was without a doubt the best Cabernet Sauvignon I've ever tasted. If anyone is bottling this or has it at home.it is perfect to drink right now. Thank you for crafting such a masterpiece Passing Clouds!
Definitely worth the stop, l have been to many wineries and always find one or two to hit my pallet perfectly, but to my surprise every taste we sampled was delicious. Not the cheapest wines but worth the price. NO wine testing charge, beautiful grounds, friendly dog and cat and a the lady that serviced us shared the families history of Passing Clouds.
Thank you, l look forward to returning next time we are in the area.
We LOVED our wine tasting here, and got to meet the owner too!
Bought a few bottles, every wine was so delicious.
I don’t like Chardonnay but I actually loved theirs and bought a bottle!
Highly recommend!
We visited Passing Clouds today without any intention to. I'm glad we did. The setting is idyllic and very well presented. Although the place only offers wine tasting and no food at the moment due to the restrictions, the service from the lady with gorgeous short red hair was impeccable. She was welcoming, friendly and fantastic at knowing the wines. I liked that she was not bias towards particular wines as it allowed us to feel comfortable to choose what we wanted. She was also very knowledgeable about the history of Passing Clouds which is quite fascinating and unique. The wines are great. Thank you for your hospitality and we hope to visit again for lunch and to purchase more wine.
I am very fussy about my Chardonnay's, both the Oaked and Un-Oaked Chardonnay's were delicious, the Oaked Chardonnay was pricey $47 a bottle.
I don't drink Red, but didn't mind the Estate Pinot Noir, $29 a bottle
