Otway Gate Motel

You will find Otway on the main road of Colac, which means it can be quite noisey early hours of the morning. I enjoyed staying here because the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are newly renovated with a huge powerful shower head which stayed hot. There isnt much parking and this place does book out so insure you book ahead, The staff are very friendly and accomodating and the towels and linen were really good quality. We received bathroom condiments but no milk, coffee, or tea. The television didnt have much chanels to watch but the location was great as it is close to everything.

Very nice and neat newly renovated rooms, very happy about our stays. Their staffs are very nice and keen to offer excellent services. The price is below the quality of the stay at the motel. Best motel in colac!

WOW WOW WOW Very inpressed! Just been fully renovated & is fresh & spotless, we checked the room before we stayed & when they opened the door, I immediately said yes we’ll take it! The new owners have really picked this place right up to a beautiful affordable motel. Friendly helpful staff. What a position 30 seconds drives to the heart of the city shops, great town, heaps of shops, restaurants etc, plenty to do. They have a fridge in the front office full of cold drinks $2! The breakfast was great & cheap. I would definitely recommend this motel to stay in. We travel for 7 days & stayed at a different motel every night & this motel & one other are at the top of the list ️ loved it. We’ll be back again soon.

These are positives and negatives fot motel which are leading to 3 stars.

Positives:
- its reasonably quiet from traffic but we could here next door people (there was joinong door from our  4 people room)
- has parking in front of room
- walking distance to centre
- friendly staff
- comfy bad
- cuttlery, plates, bowls, microwave, toaster (which we have not used) and cattle for tea or coffee

Negatives:
- perhaps due to public holiday, overpriced  (more expensive then very good hotel in     Melbourne or Warnabool). Cost us $362 for 2 nights.
- lots of files in our room
- in bathroom nasty hairball behind door (hasn't been clean on our 2 days stay)
- bed has been made on second night but not floor cleaning or towels replacement
- I had to go to pick up small bottle of milk for coffee or tea as they didn't put replacement in fridge.
- small room for 2 of us, so I can't understand how 4 people can manage in? (king bed and 2 bunk beds)
- We do understand this is country town and booking was made just before public holiday (therefore more expensive), but cleaning standards should be the same regardless.

If not flies and hair in bathroom, I would happily give 4 stars for this motel.

The most genuine and down to earth owners you will ever meet. Amazing people. This place is clean, quiet, and in an amazing location.

Very understanding and cyclist friendly. Multiple 3.5amp USB sockets, and an extremely modern room. I look forward to returning next time I'm in Victoria. Perfect base for the beechy rail trail.

The motel is very clean, stuff are so friendly and helpful. Very nice and comfortable place to stay.
Better than lots of 4* hotels.

Friendly service, good clean rooms with everything you might need (tea/coffee facilities, microwave, cuttlery, bowls, jug, mugs, iron and so on). Confortable bed, good lighting, good aircon, phone, comfortable table/chairs. Good bathroom, great location, parking right in front. Hard to fault for the price. Good value for money.

Room has been refurbed which is nice. It is very small though. I was in a room solo that could sleep 4. It would be horrible with 4 people. TV is very small (my computer screen is bigger) Price is good though so take my whining with a grain of salt. It's perfectly fine for a one night stop over. (The fridge was useless, even turned up to MAX. Aircon was excellent)

Neat, tidy rooms with a great atmosphere. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Beryl is a gem and would stay again if ever back in the area!

Great rooms, really comfortable and very clean. Love the breakfast too, always delivered on time and with the best service. What makes this places special though is the wonderful staff, Gaz and Shaz are just amazing!

Fantastic motel at the beginning of Colac. Great size rooms and comfortable beds. Service was impeccable, Gary and Sharon went above and beyond to cater to our requirements and last minute extensions. Thanks for a fantastic stay. Would highly recommend Otway Gate Motel.

Came here for work, really enjoyed my stay. The beds were comfortable, rooms were simple but nice and staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming. Gaz & Shaz were great. If I’m ever in Colac I’d be happy to stay here again.

Very clean, tidy, comfortable and great prices. Owners are great also. Had everything one needed and close to everything one could walk if wanted. I would recommend and stay again.

This was one of the nicest hotels we have been since travelling through the great ocean road. The owner is such a sweetheart and rents you dvds if you want to! The rooms are beautiful and sooo clean! Beds are so comfortable and the shower is really big. If you are travelling the great ocean road come here and enjoy staying at this beautiful place:)!

Arrogant staff, changing our room into a room with bunk bed (nobody wanna stay in a bunk bed no matter lower or upper if they pay for a normal bed). When I ask them for explanation they even sent me a extremely arrogant email without any apology and saying I owe them money for an additional guest that even not exists. I wish I can pose the email here and if I can give them 0 score I will not hesitate to do it. I can understand accident happens and I believe there will be a much better way to solve this situation instead of treating us in such an inappropriate manner.
