Oscar Oscar Salons Southland

I've been going to Oscar Oscar in Southland for 3+ years now and I've always found them to be absolutely wonderful. The staff are honestly some of the most accommodating and friendly people I've met, and they're very knowledgeable - they now know my style so well I really don't need to tell them what I want; they all know exactly what I'm going to like. They really do go above and beyond to make you happy, and that's why they're hands-down my salon of choice. From the massage on arrival, to the cookies and coffee, and just the all-round friendly environment, I can't recommend them enough.

Jorge absolutely butchered my hair and left me with a mess that will take years to regrow back into nicer layers. I went back twice to try and fix it, free of charge, but even the lovely girls that helped me could only do so much.

Horrible experience! I asked for lighter highlights, but left with much darker hair because the girls left the toner in my hair for too long because they were busy taking Instagram pics of a client with Rainbow hair. When I questioned the colour, the hairdresser said it was the bad lightening in the saloon and that when I went home I would be able to see it clearer. After $400 I left extremely disappointed. Never again!

I have only recently started going to Oscar Oscar Southland, however I have never had my hair done so perfectly and professionally. The team are all so nice and accomodating. Dani was able to listen to my requests and then make suggestions with her professional opinion making sure I was onboard at all times, I won't be going anywhere else from now on!

My first visit to Oscar Oscar was back in January 2021, and my hair was in a dire state after many months of COVID lock down. Klara worked with me to bring my hair colour (grey) back to dark auburn, an almost perfect match to my younger days. The colour is brilliant, as well as the texture, shine and style. I am extremely happy with the result! Thank you Klara!

Dani saved my box dyed hair and took me to blonde in December and I’m still getting complements in June! Can’t wait to come in for a freshen up soon

The team at Oscar Oscar Southland are absolutely lovely. The service is absolutely fantastic and I felt well cared for and looked after at my appointment. Colour & cut was exactly what I was after.

I understand that when you get a service from someone in training that you likely won't get a 5 star quality result. What I don't understand is that when a salon advertises themselves at that level and admits the faults their trainee has made then why do they not teach them the correct way or even teach them how to fix their mistake?
Maybe the trainer should not be getting her roots touched up while training. How can a salon of your stature claim to be so good and take on apprentices only to teach them how to botch someones hair, admit the mistake and then turn around and say "yeah it's patchy but we won't fix it for you". So now I'm left with hair that looks like a 3 year old got involved and I have to go pay full price to have this fixed. If I'd known this would be the case I would've skipped supporting your apprentice or your salon and gone somewhere professional in the first place. Absolutely disgusted with everything from the service to the end result and your company should be ashamed.

What can I say! I have real trust issues with hairdressers and I am very picky about the type of blonde I like. Dany at Southland OO is a hairdressing wizard. She always gets my hair 100% on point, understands my needs and listens. I always feel comfortable and well looked after on my regular visits and everyone is so helpful. What a beautiful, friendly and energetic team. If you haven't booked before.why not? !

If you're looking for an amazing place to get your hair done. Please don't look any further. Stop searching now! The staff are super friendly. The hairdressers they listen what you actually want and then give their professional advice. I had Dani as my hairdresser and she is a God send. She has done a miraculous job on colouring my hair. First time I was super happy of how it turned out. Thank you so much for taking care of me. See you very soon!

I had an appointment to get my hair dyed with Dani on Thursday evening. My hair was previously green and she was able to totally transform it. I asked for dark blue and aqua blue and she gave me a fantastic mix of those colours. I'm so happy with how it looks and will be back.
The atmosphere at the salon is really welcoming, thank you for all being so friendly. Dani did an outstanding job and the other staff who washed my hair were great too!

Hi! It has been about 1 month since leaving the salon after a full head of foils, toner & root smudge and i am still in awe at the lovely colour. Most importantly, I'd like to thank Caleb for tending to me that day. He was very attentive and caring with my hair. He helped me understand the process at each step, future recommendations as well as hair maintenance rituals. Avoid Jorge if you have blonde hair: mine went orange with a tint I never asked for. 3 appointments later and hundreds of dollars later, my hair still isn’t the same. Not what I wanted for Xmas. A disaster!

Thank you so much for my new hair. Best experience I have had in a hair salon, it’s taken me so long to find a salon who can get my blonde hair right. Great atmosphere and music too. Will be see you in 8 weeks again.

I have been to this salon twice. This salon is so welcoming and friendly, people know my name and who I see after only 2 visits and have been super happy with everything. The most important thing is that my stylist seems so happy there which says that this salon not only looks after their clients but each other as well. Looking forward to many years of great haircuts and service

Overpriced. Looking at the website before I made the appointment I thought the prices were reasonable but I am assuming that their add ons is what makes it expensive. I went in for just a colour and blow wave. When I was seated my hairdresser came over to talk about my colour and then came back with a price of $265, I was somewhat shocked but didn't feel like I could say anything. Then, my hairdresser was too busy with other clients so I was given a much more junior staff member to do my hair. Once everything was done, I went to pay to find out that I was actually being charged $295. Just for a colour, no foils or anything special.just a colour. Given my first experience, I won't be returning.

Busy place but not too is it to ask if I wanted a t a coffee or water. Rachel was my hairdresser gave me a lovely head massage as she washed my hair. I am so happy with haircut, best haircut I've had in a long while. All in all a great experience easy to get to and whilst parking was busy I did get a park quite easily. The salon is very clean and cut hair on the floor was cleaned up quickly and swept up. All staff very attentive without being over the top. Very happy overall

Well where do I start had 1pm appointment was seated & waited for 40 mins to even start on me had a basic natural colour regrowth & very short hair had it trimmed Walked out at 5 pm & then was told that they trying to meet a quota that’s not much use if you lose clients very disappointed.

Just an update from my last review had an appointment to fix what they couldn’t do in 4 hrs the 1st time around which u pay top dollar for (botched hair) they rang and very “politely”suggested for someone else to fix it which is required by hair regulations (so u don’t ask for a refund or sue them) that’s awkward lol I wouldn’t step a foot in that place again what could have been an easy fix & satisfying a client! So be aware people & know ur rights. Thanks but NO thanks Oscar Oscar Southland. Double booking to get quotas up isn’t necessarily good customer service as u pride in on ur website totally misleading.
