Olinda Tea House reviews
63Amazing! Worth every penny, we had the high tea for my birthday and couldn’t fault a thing! Book the swing chair if you can:)
Olinda Tea house offer fusion asian meals including some of the finest morning and afternoon high tea options.
I recommend their schezwan chicken, lamb dish and Olinda signature fried rice for lunch followed by their famous high tea. Food was great but it is also worth noting the calmness you can feel in their established gardens, carefully curated sculptures, and you can also book to feed the in house Alpacas!
Yes you read that right! No need to fly to South America to meet these fun animals because they are right here in our regional Victoria!
They also provide private dining rooms, and dining options that extend to the generous outdoor verandahs. It was a whole new experience lunching in Olinda Tea House and at the same time super cool to see the Chinese cuisine influence all the way up in the Dandenong ranges!
Food was alright, not exceptional but worth a try, if you don't mind splurging a bit. Would recommend the bbq pork buns and the pan fried eye fillet cube with dried chilli (which was good, but disappointingly not spicy like expected). The iced matcha latte tasted rather bland, probably too much water and not enough matcha. Ambience was nice, you can feed and interact with the alpacas out back.
We booked one of the private rooms for my daughter’s birthday. The staff was extremely helpful. Food was great. All our guests loved the place. Great for kids, my daughter loved it. Special mention to the team who helped us a lot to customise the menu as per our guest’s dietery requirements. They did not leave a single thing out from our wish list and went above and beyond our expectations. Beautiful place and lovely staff. Highly recommended to try. Thanks for making our day special.
Everything about this place was amazing. The garden is super pretty, service friendly and quick, food to die for, definitely give the desserts in the window a try! Overall an amazing experience and I can't wait to go back!
Wow, I have tried a lot of high teas around Melbourne, and this may very well be the best! The food and tea was absolutely amazing!
Excellent food, top notch presentation, friendly service and delightful meal, right in the heart of nature. Highly recommended!
We went there for a friends birthday and had the $60pp menu with the iconic Olinda Tea House dessert stand. It is well worth the price with lots of food left to take away home as well! The atmosphere is beautiful and the food is even better. The staff were really friend even the robot serving the food.: D We were all surprised with the birthday cake that came out on the house for my friend's birthday. It was not expected, but it was such a really nice touch. Thank you Olinda Tea House for the lovely hospitality.
Tucked in a beautiful and quite part of Olinda, this Chinese restaurant aims to please even those who are alien or indifferent to the cuisine. The staff are incredibly nice (well some could work on their English), the ambiance and the garden are incredibly pleasing to the eye (we visited for lunch), and the setup is good overall.
The food is incredible and made with top quality ingredients and artistically decorated with flowers, fruit etc. You should definitely try it.
The two separate function rooms are great for large groups of around 10-15 and the gazebos in the garden are great for a quality time in the nature and extremely kids friendly even with a little farm and a small swing on the balcony.
On the slightly downside, they ask you to provide feedback on a social media platform and get a prize if you show them the review (see a photo) even if it's bad. Who'd really write a bad review and show them to get their prize. This is wrong in my opinion and encourages good reviews for no reason. You don't need it guys, you're doing well. Just get your serving timing right.
Give it a thumbs up if you find this review helpful,
Cheers!
Located opposite the Cloudhill Gardens (one of Diggers Club’s famous three gardens - the main one at Heronswood, Dromana and the other at Garden of St Earth at Blackwood), this relatively new restaurant has certainly made a mark in the fine dining and functions catering arena. Specially designed with the good Fung shui in mind, this place is a must to visit if you like nature and appreciate garden design. One needs to book ahead during busy seasons if you prefer the garden setting or the swinging seats arrangement! Mesmerise the exotic birds the very location attracts while dining is an extra pleasure!
Amazing good and the best of all the best customer service. Will surely be back. Thankyou guys!
Delicious food, friendly staff, good service and the environment is so beautiful and relaxing will be back soon to try out others dish
Really enjoyed my high tea experience here. The ambience was great, outdoors, lots of cockatoos flying around.
We got the $59pp high tea set. 80% off which comprised sweets. There were too few savoury options.
Loved the presentation of the the sweets.
Wish there were more savoury items as part of the high tea.
Next time I’m here - planning on trying out the lunch selection (hoping that’s good).
The service for high tea was exceptional.
There was definately alot of sweets to get through which all looked beautiful.
A few more sandwiches would have been good to balance it out, but other than that it was great!
Very accommodating. Walked in for high tea just to be told that it has to be pre-booked but they checked with the pastry chef to see if we could still have it. Food was great but would be nicer to have more savoury options.
Food was superb. The staff are friendly and attentive without being too obvious. The robot waiter is a hoot. Outdoor settings are wonderful
What a pleasant surprise.
We went for Devonshire tea at mid afternoon
Despite being a Chinese restaurant which looks like it was designed to cater for tourist bus groups, we enjoyed fresh scones, wonderful jam and whipped cream with English Breakfast tea.
The weather was cold so we didn't sit on the balcony. But some people did brave the elements because the outlook from the outdoors area is lovely. There is also a lovely indoors pavilion set in the Chinese garden at the entrance that looks perfect for a group up to 18 people.probably for Chinese banquet?
Can definitely recommend the Devonshire tea!
Pretty good quality and variety of food. The lady at the reception was not the friendliest, still the rest of the staff was nice and friendly.
Food was served cold. Pathetic. Overpriced.
Ordered a beer, never saw the bottle, just half a glass of lukewarm beer
Unorganised staff, embarrassing and terrible customer service, low quality of foods and so expensive. I never ever suggest this restaurant to my friends
