Olinda Tea House

We had afternoon tea and it was so good. Great friendly staff, in a nice relaxing atmosphere

Stunning views, excellent service, and good food. They also have high tea selection but we opted for lunch menu instead. The lunch menu is ample with classic Asian dish as well as several Asian fusion (such as wasabi prawns). Loved the relaxed atmosphere and staff's attentiveness.

Reservation is definitely recommended as it can get very busy despite the location being quite secluded.

Booked here for my birthday with high expectations based on the reviews, but found it fell far short for several reasons.

First, the website advertises 'fusion' but there was absolutely nothing fusion about the traditional Chinese menu.

The dishes were all very well presented but each fell short in taste.

The hot and sour soup was neither spicy nor sour; it was rather bland.

The scallops and snow peas were just OK.fresh, well cooked, and tasty in a garlic sauce, very much the same as you could get at any Chinese restaurant.

The kung pao chicken was a small portion, mostly chopped veggies, very small pieces of chicken and an overly sweet, sticky sauce no better than jar sauce. It had no spiciness at all. I've had better at much cheaper places.

The bad music-blaring robot waiter was annoying and cheapened the atmosphere, which if you're seated inside really isn't much better than a cheap cafe, despite all the pretty garden areas outside. The service was fine, but at these prices I didn't expect to have to pay at a register.

Not writing this place off - I think the High Tea could be better perhaps, and I'd certainly request an outside table.

But for dinner I'd give it a hard pass, especially considering how the owner appears to insist the food is amazing as response to the bad reviews it very much deserves when it comes to food quality.

I celebrated my birthday here and we always love this place. The best sweet and sour I have ever eaten. This is an Australian/Asian fusion menu and everything is beautifully presented and delicious. Service is spot on and in a lovely part of The Dandenongs. Highly recommended for celebrations.

We had our wedding here. It was an amazing experience.location was breathtaking and customer service was just beyond expectations. Rebecca was outstanding she went over and above to help us in every single step towards the wedding. That personal touch was unforgettable. Her coordination throughout the wedding to the end and the follow up call says how dedicated and amazing she is. Food was fantastic and all the staff was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely recommend this place for any events you have. Do yourself a favour have your personal occasion here. You won’t regret! Thank you Rebecca and all the staff. You all are amazing. Excellent service, food & ambience. Good location in Mount Dandenong. Easy parking. Our waiter/waitress are very friendly & knowledgable of the food. One of us has nut allergy & they explained which food that contained it. Food is fresh & tasty & well presented. Our favourite is pork belly & salt baked prawns. Steamed Murray cod was done just right & the flesh is very tender (not muddy). Very accommodating host, Tony, came and greet us too. Will be back soon.

Great food - if you can spare the time to wait for it. The service is abysmal - waited 30 minutes for a coffee and glass of wine.

Nice setting but the dinner was really bad. Poor quality food at high prices with cheap service.

We recently went to Olinda Tea house to celebrate my sister’s bridal shower and the team were absolutely amazing with all our requests and dietary requirements. The venue was stunning and the food was delicious, safe to say I can’t wait to go back again! A big shout out to Joesph, who helped so much getting the room ready and giving us a very personal touch to our special day

Very helpful and friendly staff! Nice meal with a live lobster and steamed fish. We have been craving to get back since 2020. Always confident with the quality of the food thus we were decided to host our wedding in Olinda tea house! Strongly recommended!

Excellent location in Mount Dandenong. Nice quiet ambience. Upgraded to VIP room. Excellent friendly service from Darcy and Miao. Food presentation very good. Serving generous. Catered well to people with allergies. Yummy lobster with noodles, pork belly very nice and tender, salt baked prawns were deveined, lamb in cumin is the right spiciness, steamed Murray cod was just right, truffle fried rice is excellent. Overall, very satisfying dinner. Plus the kids fed the alpacas at the back of restaurant. Alpacas just had a "hair" cut, very cute.

We write the request to sit outside table When we booked on site. The staff told us outside table is full when we arrive. So what is the meaning to write the request. Please check the request before customer come. If the shop can’t satisfy customers request, the shop should notify customer earlier and we won’t come. Terrible experience

Amazing tea house to catch up with girls. Such a lovely set up and a perfect way to enjoy the ranges. I recommend having high tea here ️

Beautiful place with great food. They even grow herbs in their garden so that they are freshly taken for your dishes. The desserts are great too! I was really impressed by the quality of the food, service and the overall atmosphere. I will definitely come back!

It has been a great experience dining in olinda tea house. The food was great, excellent service, beautiful view and cute alpacas. I’ll try some new dishes next time)

Great ambience. Needs a better chef - food quality is what we’d expect from a food court. We ordered about 5 dishes and basically had only a few spoons of each, and left most uneaten
