Old Cheese Factory reviews
49What a beautiful place to visit. Old world and wonderful gardens to walk through. Pity no Cafe or Cheese factory here though.
Lovely at the market today. Beautiful sunshine and the garden was very pretty. Not that it would have been open due to restrictions but so sorry the cafe has closed.
We booked the hall named "The Chapel". It was clean and ready for use. They equipped the hall with two rubbish bins inside next to the sink. There were also two 120 Lt Rubbish bins outside.
In the two cupboards at the front of the hall had tables stored for use. There were 30 chairs in the hall (Covid-19 quantity allowed for size of venue). Inside on the left hand side of the hall was a QR Coded Sheet for guests to scan. I requested a couple of more sheets to place on the front doors on the outside so guests could scan in before entering. We had to nominate a Covid-19 Marshall to ensure we remained compliant at all stages. It was a great venue and close to a children's playground which suited us ideally as it was a child's birthday event.
The staff were great and very helpful when required. We cleaned everything when we left as per agreed.
Tons of parking spaces for guests too. Very pleased with the setuo and place and highly recommend to anyone.
A serene beautiful place! We did an evening Photoshoot there. It was a wonderful experience. They have maintained it really well.
Wonderful place. Great barbecue facilities. Good for kids, playground with lots of attractions.
Gardens with magnificent colours.
Such a beautiful place! The food in the cafe is AMAZING and kids birthdays here with the rooms are so great.
The Old Cheese Factory is one of Melbourne’s historic hidden gems, situated in Berwick and part of what was the Springfield Homestead️ from the 1860’s.
It is not grand, like some other historic homes & gardens in Melbourne. It is rather a lovely historic house, with a grand old Cheese Factory and verdant gardens and outer buildings for venue hire. A beautiful place for garden weddings or other events & functions (details regarding hiring are available on the City of Casey website).
Sadly the Homestead Cafe? ️ which was located at the site has now closed, it was very cute and cosy, situated in the original homestead house, with a gorgeous vintage feel. But according to Casey Council it was not financially viable and they are now in discussion about how to use the venue?
The site definitely has potential and deserves to be brought back to life as a living history museum celebrating Cheese and sharing it's past for future generations. It should be preserved and utilised in a sensitive manner taking into account its historic significance and community ambience/appeal.
The Old Cheese Factory also has a children’s playground, ️️a secret garden and is the location for the Berwick Farmer’s Market which is held on the second Saturday of each month from 8AM to 12: 30PM and there is ample car-parking available at the site. ~ Enjoy!
What a great venue for a DIY wedding! We were hired for our bar service for a fantastic wedding. Kitchen, marquees, glamping tents, food trucks and our mobile bar were the order of the day. So much space to do what you want with, great amenities. Thank you for having us, Joe, Little Happy Hut
We have had many awesome functions here and always been a winner! Friendly staff, great facilities, playground and beautiful gardens for all to enjoy
A peaceful, simple, sweet step back in time with lovely grounds to wander or sit and enjoy time to relax at the cafe in a lovely setting.
Fun place for young families to hang out at. Its got a lot of party halls and a kids play place, perfect for birthday functions!
Came to celebrate a birthday with 8 people. Ordered 2 high teas - extremely disappointing! There were 4 x mini hot bites between us, 3 x 1/4 sandwiches each and some tiny cakes - for $80! Absolute rip off. The manager was very unpleasant to deal with, had an unfriendly attitude the entire day which made the family uncomfortable then had a worse attitude when we complained. She charged us for only one high tea thank god. Very sad lunch experience, no care put into the meals. DO NO ORDER THE HIGH TEA.
Wonderful place to have any occasion. Very popular; fantastic children's playground, amenities, and a number of event areas available and well catered (chairs, tables, BBQ, bins, etc). Reasonably priced. Excellent well maintained grounds.
Great playground for the kids with toilets near by and places to sit or have a picnic. There are BBQs and gardens and parking is close by and ample. There are spaces to rent for events, and farmers markets are regularly held here. They also have a cafe but I've never been because it's always closed on Mondays.
A nice place to spend time. There is a children's play area. There are a few function rooms, can take personal parties.
Beautiful place to have a picnic and a play on the park for the kids. The garden to get married looks amazing. Just wish the cafe was open on Sundays to visit but other than that it's such a lovely place and the staff are amazing.
Recently had my nephew's bday party there. Loved the venue. Its open and perfect for kids to have a good time. There is a play area for kids too, which comes very handy.
Pretty good place to have a childs birthday party. Playground, toilet and shelter area available with bbq. Need to book
They had just recently upgraded the log cabin there and added a big woodworkers shed, looks really good!
Sad to see that it's not a working cheese factory and has not much to do in the way of life back in the day
