Okami (Doncaster) - Japanese All You Can Eat reviews
60Terrible service workers took over an hour to deliver food and were very rude people never coming back here again
My husbands family has been a big fan of Okami for many years for the good quality of food at an affordable price. Normally we travel to Greensborough location throughout the year for special occasions. We picked Doncaster this year for the convenience of travel. I'm quite disappointed at the Doncaster franchise as the level of service is quite poor compare to the other locations.
Our first round of order, the quantity that I ordered were not met, we waited quite some time for some of the dishes to come through, they were coming to the table one by one almost.
When I questioned the waiter if they can check whether everything I've ordered has arrived they said it has which clearly hasn't. So I ordered more food for the second round. Again, massive delay. Everytime when I asked the staff to check on the orders they said they will check but continue to avoid coming around to our table. Later on the waiter advised us that the portions are combined together based on the quantity of people we had.
Don't get me wrong, the young waiters are nice and respectful but I feel advertising as All you can eat is a little deceiving when they use tactics to basically hold out on your order or simply just won't give you the quantity that you wanted. I didn't experience this issue with the other okami locations.
Hopefully management can find a solution.
It would be great if the portions are little bit bigger for sushi options. Other than that the quality of food and the service was great
Went to celebrate my husband’s birthday here. Food was really good but so disapointed with the service. Staff are nice and friendly but I am talking about the serving of food. We ordered just enough to start our dinner but afterwards we are always told that the this and that is not ready yet. You know when u are so hungry u look forward to eating so much and try everything but since the food serving is so slow u will end up being full not being able to really get ur money’s worth. Not coming back here. Really bad experience. I almost don’t want to pay.
Thank you to the staff for making our son’s 18th birthday day lunch of 38 guests a memorable and wonderful experience. The food was delicious and service was friendly and made us feel comfortable. Highly recommended for your family function.
Enjoyed a beautiful Sunday lunch with family. Food and service was great. Staff were very attentive. Great atmosphere
Food wasn't fresh. My partner got one of the sushi platters, and the tuna wasn't fully thored out. Most of the food was cold and food we ordered was missed. Won't be coming back.
We ordered chicken Udon noodles that were not hot enough. We have to give it away. We were nine adults can't fit in well into the confined seat. We asked the staff to swap opened table. They refused it with excuse that those tables someone has been booked but in the end the night no one taken those tables. The staffs aren't friendly as well as unhelpful.
I love ordering my salmon bento boxes and picking up through ordering from uber eats from this Okami store in doncaster but their young male waiting staffs need to be taught how to be polite and professional with their tone and voices when greeting their customer who visit the restaurant. Today around 7pm I picked up my salmon bento and was already communicating with the 2 female staff at the counter while waiting for my order to get handed to me, however just out of nowhere this young male waiting staff holler at me to wait outside please. Also he was explained by the 2 female older staff that I am waiting for my bento be handed to me and sure enough the bento got handed to me in 1 minute. I find this male waiting staff’s response very unnecessary and he definitely needs more training not to be abrupt while greeting the customers who come into Okami to eat. This experience makes me not want to order from Okami in East Doncaster anymore.
Can the manager of Okami in East Doncaster do something about the professionalism of your male waiting staff while greeting the customers?
Thank you.
Really enjoyed going out here with friends. Though with a price that high for one person, it was hard to get your money's worth. Food was enjoyable to say the least, with staff being extremely nice and help recommending what to order. Would come back again!
Bad experience.
The photos in the recent review below are certainly not real customers.
We went together for a farewell dinner, but with such bad customer services they provided us. We couldn't even say goodbye properly and we were in bad mood with each other and left the restaurant awkwardly.
Food servings were big and plentiful however food was mostly unflavoured or drenched in terriyaki sauce. However the green tea ice cream was bussin good.
Feeling nice for having dinner here.fodd are delicious and stuff are nice.a great choice to come having dinner, will be back anything
Lovely food, generous amounts, patient waiters, and even though it was busy we weren’t hurried out.
Had a dinner here and hated it. This is the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever had. Very limited food options and low in quality, they are pretty much just frozen food. Food came in fast but the service wasn’t really good. Staff are impolite and impatient. Not recommended
Noisy (poor acoustics), crowded (patrons packed in like sardines) place with low quality, vastly overpriced food.
Okami is a personal favourite of mine. I’ve found Doncaster to have a very speedy service. Food is consistently good. Okami is the place I want when I feel like quantity. For the price, amount of food, consistent taste and speed of service you would struggle to find better.
Personal favourites are the teriyaki steak, potato croquettes, and squid balls.
Occasionally I order too much and need to roll out of the restaurant. That’s my own fault soo I recommend some restraint when ordering.
Our family enjoyed the atmosphere and food at Okami. We have visited for two birthday celebrations and will come again.
The food was delicious but we have been served by a rude waitress, it was our first experience in this restaurant so we had some questions about food portion etc but she was very reluctant to answer our questions and not friendly at all.
My family of 10 decided to go here for mothers day and a birthday combined.lots of parking, the service was very good, organised, fast and friendly. The waiter explained the best way to order, which worked well. Enjoyed the variety of dishes and nice portions. The Eggplant salad was my favourite. The whole family loved their meals as well as the lovely variety of ice creams on offer. We all had a very enjoyable time, the only downside was that because it was a Japanese Restaurant and not Chinese l did not think to ask if any of the dishes contained, Monosodium Glutamate, MSG (a chemical food flavouring enhancer usually written as 632,603,601, etc) as l am allergic to it and end up with a horrible migraine headache all day, the next day which is what l have now while writing this review on Sunday Mothers Day.l always ask about MSG at all other Asian restaurants especially the Chinese and some Vietnamese Restaurants because they use it in their dishes most of the times, but thought that l was safe because it was Japanese where l have never had a problem with it. The waiters were Chinese so maybe the food is cooked in a Chinese manner which explains the MSG. Other then this it was very good. If l go again l will ring up first and ask to see how many of their dishes do not contain MSG to see if there is a variety of dishes that l like to make it worth going which is what l liked with the "all you can eat" aspect of Okami rather than the quantity.
