Okami (Camberwell) - Japanese All You Can Eat reviews
46First and last time. The menu didn’t have much variety and the food wasn’t flavorful. Totally understand the idea of serving food accordingly to numbers of guests but the portions was so little.we tried to order the exact menu for second time and request for the bigger portions as well, still we what we got look nothing like pictures on menu. And unfortunately the food presentation was terrible in point where it brings the dish whole down. Not to mention the overall service was consider as concerning, some server took an effort to take care of us but the waitress who took our order seems to be very new and pretty much overwhelmed results as we didn’t get much of suggestions but it’s okay. However, please provides the proper training to your staff since the food also takes forever to be served, we literally waiting for one dish for an hours we tried ask the server twice not even received one single apology. Not quite sure the exact numbers of table they serving during the times we were there, but it’s doesn’t seem to be that busy. The price was affordable but the experience was not it.
The Japanese version of Smorgys. No flavour, just production line food on mass.if not deep fried, then it was smothered in oil. So disappointing as I love Japanese food.
It's obvious they don't want you to order too much with the all you can eat option. The sushi platter wasnt as per the menu and when asked why, some excuse that they only provide according to how many on the table.but it's all you can eat! Then once you've ordered, the food takes forever to arrive. The spring rolls were cold and old. The prawn goyza had no prawn. And lastly the service was ordinary, with an obvious effort to avoid having to attend your table. Then finally with half hour before our times up being pushed into selecting deserts while still waiting for 2 dishes that hadn't arrived.
It use to one of my favourite restaurants but not anymore. Foods quality were not consistent. Beef carpaccio were four pieces and likes swimming in sauce (too much). Yakiniku beef tasted very dry.
Always a good deal for the money. But some days the chef adds too much MSG or some sort, which makes you drink and drink… end up not eating like you wanted and planned.
Sushi that came out looked nothing like the menu. Was half the size and missing all the bits you actually want to eat.
For $40 a head you’re better off going somewhere else and getting better quality and still be full
Where do i start, been to other ones but the service here is shocking, waited for 15 minute's for drinks, food dumped at end of table we had to move it, we were clearing our own table
And putting plates together, quality of food was OK, went to pay, young fellow sees me and walks away for 5 minute's
Sorry but service doesn't even compare to Hampton okami,
We visited for a birthday dinner and I wasn’t too wowed by the quality. The karrage chicken was dry and the teriyaki steak was tough (though flavoursome). I actually enjoyed the potato croquettes and vegetable pancake though it was quite oily. The sushi was fresh though I would prefer to go to an all you can eat sushi restaurant that allows you to order salmon sushi for example rather than a mixed platter only
The price has constantly been increasing for the ‘all you can eat’ option. ‘All you can eat’ is in quotations because after the second round of dishes the staff here avoid all eye contact and blatantly ignore you trying to order any more.
This used to be a great time out but it’s now totally not worth your time or money for this terrible chain.
The best service, lesley very kind!
The food was so delicious
Everything 100! Love to come back again
Fantastic customer service went here last night for my birthday and they went above and beyond for my birthday?
Okami is so good, and in particular, the Camberwell Okami is the best of them all! The staff are always friendly, the service is quick even when they are busy, the food is always top notch, and the all you can eat is insane value for what you get! Highly recommend!
We caught up with some friends who live down in Hawthorn. First time we came here 40min drive but worth it.service was great, food was great worth the money.well done to the chefs and and staff. Will have to see if the one closer to us is just as good.
Enjoyed the food - especially the beef carpaccio, miso steak & the eggplant salad. But pretty much all the dishes were lovely. Only exception the shumai which was rather gluey & sad.
Nice ambience too.
One just orders the dishes off the menu as required for one fixed price.
The service is very patchy though - had to actually go up to the desk to get someone to come take our orders after the first round. The wait staff seem to have perfected the art of not noticing the guests or making eye contact. The only exception seemed to be one person who was at the till.
This despite there being only 3 small tables occupied in the front area where we were seated.
Would come back hoping for better service next time.
What a disappointing experience. Farce all you can eat. We came as a group of 7, after twice full table order, our next order came so slowly at almost once in 20 mins rate, then 20 minute before time the manager who came to get our order told us that it was our last order. We are not even heavy eaters and this is my first time that we come home from an ayce restaurant not feeling full.
Nice food just don't get the fried rice as it's not the best value and they'll give you heaps.
This restaurant advertised as a buffet japanese restaurant, but unlike other buffet places where the food already prepared, you have to order the food to the waiter and it took MORE than 1 hour for them to deliver fried chicken wings and beef teriyaki, everytime i ask the waiter he keep saying he will ask the kitchen, i think this is the way of them doing business to get the customer to eat as little as possible despite it being a buffet, avoid this place at all cost
Menu was quite limited. Food took a while. Food was forgotten. Nicely decorated place. I won't be back.
Excellent service with all the delicious food, can’t find anywhere better if you are in Camberwell area.
Camberwell: Good service and good food, however service has gotten slower, prices have gone up (corkage has doubled) and ice cream is now only a small kids serving. Probably good value if you can eat a lot in one sitting.
