Okami - Hampton reviews
71Called in at 4: 55 and got a table for two at 5: 00 pm that day. The staff were friendly and attentive (better than the Williamstown one). The food was delicious, although some of them were a bit salty. Miso soup was the best. Finishing up with the matcha ice cream, and I also enjoyed it. Highly recommend it if you are with your friends or family and have no idea where to go.
Foods all good! Nice service! But sushi not the great!
Hampton one is the best one of Okami.
We took my daughter and friends for a birthday party. All you can eat Japanese for a pretty reasonable price. It was noisy, but that was probably us!
Food was great and it was a good night.
Came in on Australia Day for a meal with a few friends. I feel I was cheated dishonestly a bit by the staff. Almost all of the sushi/sashimi we ordered did not come, however, everytime we ordered something other than sushi/sashimi, such as the miso beef, or chicken karaage, it arrived very promptly. All up, we ordered over 20 platters (there was 7 of us and as it wasn't arriving, we kept ordering) and maybe 4/5 came. Even after notifying the staff that the sushi/sashimi was not coming, nothing changed. The most annoying part was that we could see the sushi was already prepared and sitting in the glass display (which they use to prepare the platters), but they literally just did not serve it to us. This was far from an "all-you-can-eat" experience, more of an "all-they-are-willing-to-serve" experience. As someone who likes and frequents the Okami chain, I will not be returning to this location unfortunately.
Response to owner's response: The staff did explain that, however the food still did not come out. Serving 2 slightly larger portions to a group of 7, does not accumulate anywhere near to the amount we ordered.
We had such an unpleasant experience at this Okami. We were seated at an unclean booth right next to the toilets and it was basically impossible to order anything because we were ignored most of the time. Waiters would literally run past our table and not bother to look our way and they hardly approached our table and got our orders wrong each time. The food was also presented terribly and we just ended up leaving.
This is a must of you love Japanese food. They cook all that you want up freshly as you order, even though it's an all you can eat. Food is divine service is a little lacking but OK.
We were waiting for 30-45 mins for our food to come. We were only two at our table. Looks like other tables were better served. Pic here is one out of 3 dishes we ordered in the last 30 mins. With how things going, we will be waiting another 30 mins for the other 2 to arrive.
Edit: when I followed up with one of the servers, she begrudgingly said we don't have any pending. Like I owe her something for asking. That's it. We're done. We've been supporting Okami from Ballarat, Footscray, Caufield, and more recently Hampton. I don't think I'll be visiting this branch any time soon.
Can’t say I loved it but I can see the value in it. It just seemed like food court food.
Will be some time, if ever, I decide to give it another go.
Delicious food and very helpful, friendly staff. The all you can eat menu is very good value. Okami also went above and beyond to help us with yummy bento boxes at short notice for a function. Highly recommend!
This place is a great spot for good food and a good time, all you can eat for a date or a group get together. Amoungst friends and family this place is always a contender for dinner.
Best all-you-can-eat sushi I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried a few globally). No tablets, no rounds, just personal service. Great value-for-money, friendly staff and a wonderful experience overall.
Incredible value for money. Not only that, but the food is fresh and delicious. The standouts for me included the beef carpaccio and the prawn gyoza. I would highly recommend selecting a range of entrees. $5 corkage per bottle which is reasonable. Three people well fed for approx $100 (they do seniors discounts too). I will definitely dine here again.
This is one of the many branches in Melbourne metropolitan. We have tried in other locations so it is fair to say we will be back again. Food is served efficiently and freshly prepared. Taste is good for a buffet style dinner. We hardly take any photos lof all the food ordered as we are too busy enjoying the food. Staff are attentive in taking orders and clearing the empty plates. Ice cream variety is great to finish it off a nice meal. The only miss for us is the miso soup, lacking tofu and seaweed. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars!
Sometimes we'd order a dish e.g. Gyoza expecting 6 and they'd bring 2 plates of 12 for the table. Other times would order a plate of Ngiri for the table and 4 pieces would come out.
Also they could be a bit faster bringing the food out, again Ngiri they have a load pre-made at the counter but for some reason we had to wait 15 minutes for them to bring the aforementioned 4 pieces.
Apart from the service aspect the food is delicious, and price wise great value for money.
Great food and service.
It's a set price all you can eat selection.
Just order until you're full.
Licensed.
This quiet little Japanese restaurant is a real gem in Hampton. Great food, service and location, yet not pretentious or exorbitant! I'm a regular, now!
First time here and absolutely amazing! Food and staff were fantastic. Will definitely be making another trip here very soon. Thanks for a great night
First time trying Japanese cuisine, and I am glad I did it at Okami (Hampton)
The service is of high standards! Tried the - all you can eat menu, and food was exceptionally good! Worth every penny I say!
Thanks so much!
Was lovely as service is great, price right and unlimited food freshly made to order. Make sure your hungry as you have to try everything
Don’t book via their online system. Wasted of time. Booked. And rang 2 days in advance to check. Not booked. And was told fully booked.
