Coming from Singapore this place is a little slice of home I wasn't expecting to find in Carlton! The entire restaurant feels like it was cut and pasted straight from Malaysia and walking inside makes me feel like I'm right back where I grew up. Everything tastes home-cooked and the staff are always super lovely. The Nasi Padang is by far the most legitimate I've tasted anywhere in my 4 years living in Melbourne. I wholeheartedly believe this is a business everyone should support.

Food was absolutely delicious and the owner was a very chatty and nice lady. Highly recommended.

The lady at the counter is very nice and friendly. She just might need you to slow down and be patient with telling her your orders

The sparkling apple soda is very nice, but my favourite is Kick-a-poo joy juice️️️️️ it's so funny and yummy at the same time!

This is the perfect and tastiest place for a student on a budget. You can taste that the meals are made with love. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant.

For only 10 bucks (rice w 2 meat, 1 veg) the portion is definitely reasonable and the food tastes good.

It’s also not too salty or oily imo so it’s a great option for lunch!

Amazing amazing place - serving up delicious Malay food from the bain marie for $10 (2 meat 1 veg), where else can you find such a deal in all of Australia? Lovely family running the place as well. I live next door and work from home with a busy schedule - I come here at least 2/3 times a week and never get sick of it. What a gem.

I’m so glad I tried this place! The food’s delicious and such good value for money. I paid $10 for 2 meat dishes and 1 veg dish with rice. The restaurant is also conveniently located right next to the uni - great for students!

Awesome casual eatery for good value for students. Great service and nice spicy variety of foods on menu. Great if you study in CBD or Carlton, e.g. RMIT University or Melbourne Uni.

Its been a long time eating here for me since moving to Melbourne about a decade ago. The food was cheap then and it still is by Melbourne standards. Quality has been maintained although portion size has reduced a little. Aunty is as friendly as always and loves to chat. Teh Tarik was strong which is just how i like it. This place is a hidden gem for good malay comfort food.

Affordable and homely Malaysian/Indonesia meals. Also Halal. You can choose your menu from the available dishes. Great for students looking to have a quick lunch for 10$.

Food quality and quantity are not the same as it was a few years ago. The veges and meat dishes are so watery. Sad as the food was so authentic and delicious before.

A good place to come frequently, especially for UniMelb students. Great food for value - only $10 for 2 choices of meat and a veggie (egg counts as a veggie here fyi!). I heard that food here is authentic Malay style. The uncle and auntie are very nice and welcome too!

Overall the $10 combo was good and just enough to keep myself from not being hungry. If you want more, extra meat costs $3.

I was pleasantly surprised with the limited but delicious menu. Don't be put off by the barebones look of the place. The food is lovely. I had lunch of plain rice with chicken curry, beef curry and egg sambal. I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The best part? Only 10 bucks. Seriously! It's a hidden gem. I'm only cutting 1 because of the ambiance of the place (have to be fair) but it's really 5 s for the food. There's no 4.5 here unfortunately.

A must-know place if you're a uni student! I was in tears when I saw that Norsiah's kitchen was still open and that the same owners (Aunty & Uncle) were there. I used to frequent this place for lunch when I was at uni (a long time ago) so dining here brought back many memories.

The food tasted the same: wholesome and homemade, like your Singaporean/Malaysian friend's mother's cooking. It was also not too salty, which was good!

You can't go wrong with the 2 meat + 1 veg with coconut rice. I had this plus an extra veg dish for $1. I also had a canned drink for $2. Definitely opt for the fried chicken and one of the curries - you won't regret it!

All up, it cost me $11+1+2 = $14! What a steal for a lovely homecooked, filling meal.

I just hope this place stays open as long as possible, and I wish Aunty and Uncle the best of health

I love this place but my last visit disappointing as the tarik was bitter. Some items taken off menu like Kari puff and roti prata. Also no fish on the menu.

Super affordable price for the quantity and taste - $10 for plain rice + 3 dishes! Feels very homemade and plenty of options for everyone! Staff were also very warm and friendly. Missed having Malaysian/Singaporean food so dining here made my day: D

Great for a quick and cheap meal. We ordered 2 rice sets (1 with 3 meats, 1 with 3 veges) and roti and it was only $30. Not the absolute best malay or indo food, but still satisfies!
