Nikos Tavern - Greek Cuisine Restaurant & Catering Melbourne

I haven't had anything at Nikos that I didn't love! Some of the best lamb ive found. The staff are always very friendly and you definitely get way more bang for your buck!

We bought Groupon coupon. They said 3 course meal. Everything was shoved on ONE plate n served like a dogs meal. It was Terrible after 1.5 hour wait. Very bad service I was extremely disappointed with food. Waste of Money

So hit and miss here. Collected pick up order that wasn’t even started at the pick up time. Watched the girl assigned to my order totally out of her depth while trying to prepare large order. At times she just stood there looking bewildered as the more experienced rushed around her. No one helped her and consequently after a ridiculous wait I got home to find things like Seafood Grill missing half the stuff and largely a plate of salad. Such a shame as other times it’s quiet good but I recommend keep it simple and hopefully you get someone who knows what there doing!

Sorry to say bur this was possibly the worst Greek food I have ever have. We were there with 20 other friends and were so embarrassed that they had to experience such poor service, cold and stale food. The place needs a clean as well as even the water jugs were filthy. I was shocked. Was definitely the last time we will be going there.

We had ordered a large take away. The food was fabulous and the staff that made it up were great.

We had a fantastic dinner with our extended family Saturday night. Great service, plenty of great food with all the Greek favourites in an excellent atmosphere. All the kids loved the music and the smashing plates while doing the Zorba. Would totally recommend if you’re after an authentic Greek experience.

Sorry to say but my experience here was below average matching some recent reviews which is unfortunate as I really did love all the family photos and stuff at the enterence

-Staff seemed a bit disorganized and it took a while for anyone to take our order
-We were sat in the corner where its a bit dark and we asked if we could move one table over and were told no because it's reserved- weird when the place was mostly empty and the table never got occupied during dinner service
- food really was just OK and the best thing was the dips and bread which was excellent, meat was hit and miss

I hope the owners can take this constructively and take note of other recent reviews and make some positivr changes

C'mon Nikos, that is not good quality Greek food. Food was looking so tired and unappetising. Flavours not great. Even the pita bread was a let down, if that was even possible. I frequent many Greek restaurants but it's been many years since I've had such a below average meal. One positive though: the baklava was outstanding. The galaktobouriko, on the other hand, was a disaster. You should really be doing better than this

The last 3 times I've had absolutely lovely wait staff with absolutely no training. Nikos please train your staff, they are trying so hard, but have no idea what to do. Example: Can I please order the house red? Answer 5 minutes later, would you like the sparkling? True story!

Abusive staff! Worst dinning experience I’ve had in my life.
We were seated at 6: 30, at 7pm we had flag down one of the seemingly bored staff to ask for menus. We ordered the Meat Meze for 5 of us. After about 45 minutes the pita and dips came out, then another 45 minutes later two small plates of meat and chips came out. They were placed directly infront of people as if they were mains, being so small the two people began eating assuming more food was on the way. There had been no mention that any of the food was shared when we ordered. After 10 minutes we flagged down staff to ask if more food was coming. This is when the waiter raised his voice yelling at us that he doesn’t cook the food and that’s all the food we get. And that we were having a go at him personally. Yelling as if he was about to start a punch on in the restaurant, he was scary. No one in our group was aggressive or rude. We just wanted to know where the rest of our meal was as it didn’t match the description. Another staff member came over and it turns out the chicken and Saganaki, had been forgotten about. We weren’t delusional.
We should have walked out when we were abused but we stayed to be further punished by cold meat, warm soggy salad and chips that tasted like they had been microwaved. 3 hours for a dinner with one course. I will never return and I will make sure everyone I know steers clear. Would give 0 if possible.

Never have I had to write a review about a restaurant, however today and other times recently have been horrible.

ABSOLUTLY awful customer services to not just my-self, but most recently my mother. We ordered dinner and my mum got the dinner pack that usually comes with pita bread, but unfortunately they forgot. This was fine at the time as mistakes can happen, but rather than accepting they forgot the pita on the phone they instead nastily insisted that we were somehow wrong and 'lying', persisting that they had put it in. After timely agreeing to provide the forgotten pita unwillingly, on the ride over they called us again telling us they ACTUALLY did FORGET the pita but with no apology. After my mum had driven back, on the way out the lady at the front loudly shouted towards my mum "don't you ever make mistakes". This was both embarrassing and rude towards a customer that has been coming to Niko's for the best part of 15-20 years.

This isn't the only time however the lady has been rude towards us, constantly throughout the past 2 years we walk in to see a grin, no response when asked "how are you" or "thank you" with the food just shoved towards us and asking for the money. For any good restaurant in my opinion the front of house is the place to show what type of restaurant you are, and all this shows is a places that doesn't care anymore.

It's a shame and the place has now become unrecognisable.

Best souvlakis. Pita bread was perfect and lamb was juicy, seasoned well and melted in your mouth. Chips were pretty good and staff were lovely as well. Will come back again.

Food was all cold and looked like it was just tossed on the plates and the place was to noisy and very average servings for the price hadn't been there for years and won't be going back

Great food but night was ruined by the noise level of the band. Far too loud. We went to eat and have a good chat with old friends which turned out to be just a shouting match to be heard. This was at 6.30pm. By all means increase the noise level at 9.00pm for Zorba but prior to that we are not there to attend a concert. Why do musicians always get carried away in this regard? Just have very subtle background music please. Probably won't visit again.

Rubbish food, rubbish service from young waiters that don’t want to work. Reheated, frozen food.don’t waste your money coming here.

Been going there for years, Food is good, but thats about it, treat their staff bad and don't know how to speak to customers, never have.

I was disappointed at the size of the meal. Where was the rest. It was the vegan option which didn't come with desert.fair enough but the dishes we did recieve were small. I would say it was more like two entries as the main instead of two mains and one entry to share instead of a entry for two. Not exactly impressed. I get this was a vegan option but reading other comments it seems the meals are small for everyone, especially if dinning with a large group. It could of been so good but unfortunately it isn't.

We ordered banquet. Every single set that we had was terrible. Not fresh, greasy and tasteless. I wanted to rate zero if I could but I just gave rate 1 because of lovely staff but all foods were zero. Will never come back again
