New Somali Kitchen reviews
64Amazing, flavoursome, authentic food. The owner is so welcoming and passionate as well. Try the lamb or goat share platter for two, comes with a hearty lamb broth.
Our first time trying Somali food and it did not disappoint. Fabulous little restraunt in Flemington and the food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be coming back again.
Amazing service.fresh delicious food.big serve and nice welcoming clean restaurant.can't wait to try there chicken next time
This place is a hidden gem! Amazing food and warm and welcoming owners! I will be a regular customer here!
By far THE BEST dish I have ever had I ordered the lamb with rice dish. The lamb was perfectly cooked along with the rice beyond tasty…. Well done
Walking in you receive a warm welcome. The services was amazing and the food amazing.
Loved the hot lamb broth and the shared mains was delicious with meat falling of the bone. Banana served with main which was a very Somali touch.
Such a hidden gem! Staff were extremely welcoming, bringing us a cup of broth when we arrived. The food was INCREDIBLE and affordable. We got the share plate of goat with rice and it was 10/10, fall off the bone. Lovely place and people, I would highly recommend it!
Very good taste with reasonable price.
Goat and lamb meat was tender along with good taste of rice without too much spices. Food is halal. Staff is very nice and friendly. I must recommend this place.
We have been coming here for few years now. It has changed yes but to better. We enjoy their food. Beautiful food as usual
If you are a fan of Mandi you must try NSK! Their food is amazing but the most disappointing part is that every time we go there either food is finished or the place is closed! Strongly recommend you to call before going.
What a meal, went for a work lunch and everyone loved it! Thank you so much for looking after us all so well? Meat was fall off the bone, rice was SO flavorful, salad fresh, awesome music on all in all a wonderful restaurant I WILL be back! Thank you for looking after us
NSK Combo was a favourite. Their menu selection was limited but everything was SO packed full of flavours! The side Sambusa was nicely crispy and loved the mango/yoghurt dessert as well as the banana that came with every meal (which was a Somalian custom). A must visit when in Flemington.
The best meal I have's had. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection. The price is so affordable and the taste of every dish is amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
We ordered the Basta and NSK Combo to take away and were so impressed with the very generous portions and delicious food especially the lamb. We also ordered a couple of Sambusas, which were definitely our favourite (although it's hard to go wrong with meat in a pastry). Highly recommended!
First time trying Somali food. Got the Worker's Lunch takeaway with Chilli and well and truly satisfied. Abdo said the goat was 'off the chain'. Not my go to pick, but I thought I'd give it a try and was glad I did. He was right: tender, flavoursome and ample fragrant rice and vegetables.
At 7: 30 they said the kitchen is closed. I was not allowed to sit and eat. Be warned they close the kitchen VERY early
New Somali Kitchen successfully catered a 50 person event for us within a weeks notice. The food was hot, fresh and delicious with more than generous portions. Everyone who attended couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was!
Excellent food with very generous portions! The meat was cooked to perfection and the free serving of soup very welcome in the cold weather. Looooved the rice.
Great service would recommend everyone give this place a try.
Food was good, but was very upset with the customer service and the sudden price increase when paying, and they were unable to provide a receipt.
Given menus with several options, but when we wanted to order we were told there's only one dish available (why did they not tell us earlier? !). Said dish NSK Classic Regular size, was supposed to be $13 on the menu, but when paying, the counter told us it's $18, and said the menu was outdated (why still use them at the restaurant then? !)
They also told us their machine wasn't working so was unable to provide a receipt, it sounded very dodgy and unfair as we were there to support the Melbourne Money initiative where we needed the receipt to apply for a discount from City of Melbourne. Ended up unable to, and even more we needed to pay more than what's on the menu!
We did try to talk about it with the staff but it was no help.
Looking at the other reviews, it could be just us who were extremely unlucky to be served by some workers who had terrible attitude and ethic at work.
Won't come back again.
First time trying Somalian food, and this was the perfect place to try it! Everything was absolutely delicious - lamb broth, roasted lamb and rice, we even had some basta (somali style pasta?) and sambusas (like samosas!) Highly recommend! Also a nice and bright cafe style vibe inside:)
