Nest At Waterways Cafe

Great place for breakfast next to the lake. Had the Nest special breakfast which includes coffee and orange juice.

It’s fine and nothing more.

Pretty location with some books and colouring in for kids but there’s no segregation from the actual water front so keep an eye on the kids.

Service wasn’t very good, staff kept just dumping food and drinks on the table in front of me to pass around, one waiter actually leant over me and my face brushed against the food on her plate, another placed three pots of boiling water in front of a toddler.

All the staff were wearing rubber gloves that looked like they were stained and grubby.

The food was as described.

The patio area is super warm and stuffy in the sun as there’s no fans or air flow.

Went with a group of retired work friends for xmas lunch. Ordered coffees after lunch. Went to order and politely asked for 2 coffees with lite milk, extra hot thanks. The elderly man who took the order sarcastically asked me: are there any other instructions? This was quite rude - uncalled for. The coffees that came were warm, not extra hot. This childish man spoiled our experience. We should have returned the coffees, but the mood was spoilt.

Such a nice Cafe tucked away. When you sit outside for lunch and look out at the water, it's so tranquil.

In absolute dire need of fans/aircon. The heat really takes away from the experience; especially with fairly lengthy waits. I’d recommend avoiding it on a hot day, honestly. It was slightly miserable.

Food is adequate. Standard, but okay.
Staff are pleasant.

Too slow and poor service. Asked for a extra plate and gave a tiny plate and when I for a bit bigger plate refused. Nice view though

The food was great and sitting at a table looking out over the lake is beautiful the staff were very friendly and nice I reccomend the place to everyone

The staff was very rude, unaccommodating and she spilled the coffee on our table and smirked. But the location was great and so was the food.

I asked the price of the squeezed orange juice while I was standing at the register and I had the fridge next to me and she gave me the menu to find the price by myself! After I asked how much a fruit salad cost and they were looking each other and they said $5.50. I took the salad from the fridge to the register and the girl said “ohhh this is $10”

The hot chocolate was good.

It's a great place to to have a relaxed weekend brunch by the lakeside. We have been going here since 2019. We noticed recently that in the quest to keep the price same in the menu, they seem to have reduced the quantity in the dishes. Prefer if they keep the same quantity and put the price up by a couple of dollars.

Good food nice view. However the high chair looks very dirty did not bother to use it for my child. One Indian looking staff is a bit abrupt.

I was abused and then stared down after my order was given to a passer by instead of coming to my table, which was numbered btw. Turns out that was my fault. I wouldn't touch this place again

The Nest is in a great location and has a lovely ambience…however the food is very average and overpriced for what it is…
The warm chicken salad I had today was very disappointing.just lettuce with a bit of sliced chicken breast on the top, surely they could have stretched to a bit of avocado or some tomatoes.absolutely nothing in the salad but chopped cucumber and minimal slivers of red onion …very disappointing especially for $21.50…
Sadly I would not recommend The Nest for the food and probably won’t eat there again.

Sad to see the owner has given up on this lovely located restaurant. Their ordering system is archaic at best, I even questioned the man about why he would write things down on paper first and then input it into the system, his response "thats how it works". It has so much potential to be better. Invest the time and the effort to improve your processes and systems and you would see 10x customers.

Food is well below average, service is slow and poor. If you change your ordering system and also your service I will definitely be back, as it's a lovely location.

I can see there are quite a few other recent reviews that are similar, such a shame.

On the edge of waterways lake Nest is a popular destination for locals and weekend cyclists for a cuppa and breaky. Sit undercover or under one of the many umbrellas outside.

Terrible service. The owner was very offended when it was suggested that the system should be improved somehow. I ordered an eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was very poor, bacon undercooked. Waited a long time given that the place was not busy. Very disappointing and will not be going back. It appears I am not the only one that has this opinion of the place.

Beautiful cafe by the lake to dine al fresco by the lake, the view is beautiful and the food is perfect.

Great outdoor coffee place next to the lake. Breakfast is average. Nice to go to if you live local in Keysborough. There is outdoor and undercover area. It can get quite sunny if your sitting outside.

I had lunch with a friend at this Café and after waiting an hour for our food, my friend found a dead bug in her salad, and when she mentioned it to the Café owner, instead of an apology she was insulted. I have never seen such insulting behaviour. We had the Salt & Pepper Calamari which were the most tasteless Calamari that we had ever had. I do not recommend this eatery if you want to eat good food, but especially for the abhorrent behaviour of the Café owner. If I could give a minus 5 Star review.
