neighbours cafe reviews
64I really am shocked at what I was served today. I have enjoyed Acai bowls from Neighbours for over a decade but what arrived today was awful both in presentation (none) and taste. I had to throw it out: (such a waste. I called the cafe after, who were friendly thankfully and confirmed its a new chef and needs to be taught how to make a bowl. I really wanted to support them during these tough covid lockdown days but will have to wait until they learn how to make their classic Acai bowl. That's the irony ; Neighbours used to have tone of the best bowl in Melbourne. Hopefully it will rise again!
You like dogs? This is the cafe for you. Walk through to the separate outdoor area to lovely sunny seating with SO MANY DOGS most mornings and afternoons. There are also dog treats and water bowls. Once I even saw a cat in a harness, and spoke to his human to discover he is basically a celebrity because there's a mural of him painted on the fence in the outdoor area.
Exceptional staff, a good vegan menu and decent prices are also noteworthy. But DOGS! Bring your dogs here so the quiet person sitting in the corner writing on their laptop can stare at and appreciate them.
Ordered the lamb hash - tasty as! Huge serving size (I couldn’t finish it). Have been here several times - the shakshuka is tasty, as are the fritters.
Sunday morning brunch.very disappointing service and cleanliness. Venue was running at 50% capacity. They had 7 FOH staff, and still couldn’t pull it together, complacency wearing face-masks on/off, coffee station and service counter was messy and not covid-safe.
I ordered a smashed avocado that usually comes with 2 eggs. I had to request eggs. Ordered 2 rounds of coffee, only received one.
Come on guys.be better!
Go see you’re neighbours at Belencowes Milk Bar and see how to service your customers properly.
Great chilled atmosphere, staff were friendly and communicative. There is loads of seating outside (mostly under cover away from the rain today!) which is dog friendly too.
The menu is huge and there were a lot of dishes I would love to have tried for brunch! The portions are generous (yay!), cooked perfectly and served alongside some great coffee. I also think the menu options are great value for money given the size of them.
The only downside to our visit was the coffee arrived about 10 mins after our food due to the front cafe being busy. Not ideal but the staff came to tell us why there was a delay at least. Plus the food made it up for it!
I will definitely visit again to sample something else from the menu!
Fantastic outdoor area, well suited for small or large groups. Our dog loved it! Great portion sizes, very good value for money
I dont remember the last time I waited so long for any kind of service. 90 minutes for food to arrive to the table, cold upon arrival to cap it off. Even a cup of coffee took an incredibly long time, with members from our 7 patron table having to repeatedly vacate their seats and chase down drinks orders to see that we got what we'd asked for. No water on the table. Severely understaffed for a Sunday morning, especially from cafe that can seat so many.
Very disappointed with the morning. We arrived at 11am, didnt leave till 2.not the quick brunch we had planned for.
We wont be returning.
On a plus side, good portion size, if you like cold scrambled egg. And lots of dogs.
Beautiful little spot with amazing friendly staff. Food is ok but like most places can have a small air period in the busier times. Highly recommend the coffee.
The reviews here are pretty good, but my experience was poor. The place was just about empty, yet my coffee took over 30 mins to arrive (after reminding them of it). It was a nice strong coffee but the service was slow and quite awkward.
Great local cafe with a welcoming vibe and fab coffee. You can sit inside our out in the (child and puppy friendly) courtyard - either under cover or out on the lawn.
The staff were all welcoming and friendly, table service in the courtyard and you can also grab coffees and pre-made cakes to go.
Brunch menu is comprehensive and the portion sizes are really generous. Great value for money and everything we ordered was yummy. We'll definitely be back.
I have passed this gem many times not knowing what a treasure it is. A friend & I sat in the courtyard w her dog. Although it was a warm day, the cool breeze turned this eating experience into a lovely occasion. We both had the special which was mushrooms sautéed w thyme & served w 2 slices of multi-grain bread, poached egga & haloumi for around $18. The tasty portion was so generous I wished my son was there 2 pick up the slack.
Nice coffee. Good service. Noisy children let run amok was disappointing to experience - only stopped when one child fell and hurt himself.
We absolutely loved this place. If your anywhere near the corner of inkerman st and chapel st do yourself a favour and pop in. Food is divine and huge portions. Worth the money. Had the best waitress and also would travel from Clifton Springs again just to eat again at this amazing cafe. Bloody amazing.
Is a lovely place to have a breakfast with ur mates the only thing that bothers me is that the glasses to drink water look like 5 years old and never washed.
Good local cafe, offering the best of both worlds - outside and inside dining. Large, accommodating front of house team, any food request most likely can be fulfilled (though with a price). Crowd that usually goes here is local residents to neighbourhood (this is off the tourist path a bit compared to St Kilda main roads.) Food always tastes amazing. Free Book library available for those wanting to read and haven't brought a book.
Love the breakfasts. Really adaptable and vegan options are always delicious. Outdoor seating is always a treat on sunny days.
Great coffee & food, warm friendly staff & a definite must for anyone in the mood 4 fun
Solid cafe with good eats, can get incredibly busy, but if you like an encounter with friendly doggos. This is the place for you!
Make sure you’re hungry when visiting!
Big breakfast servings, friendly service and nice atmosphere. I got the Bush lamb with fried egg and was delicious!
Excellent cafe with relaxed vibe and indoor/outdoor area. Been here a few times. The pulled pork sandwich is very generous and my favourite, and their coffees and smoothies are great.
