Naughty Norman

Stopped in trying to just have a drink or two for their Monday happy hour to be told rudely they were fully booked, which is fine. Walked by again after having a drink at the other Spanish place across the road (Casa de Playa who graciously squeezed us in even though they too were fully booked) about 45 minutes later and still they had only about 3 tables who were sat down. Fine if the owner doesn’t want our business, we’ll continue going to Casa de Playa instead, especially being locals.

Our family loves Mexican cuisine, during our recent visit to Mornington we decided to have lunch at Naughty Norman. Service is poor, perhaps they were understaffed but a 50 minute wait for 5 tacos and 1 taco bowl is disappointing. I had to ask the wait staff on multiple occasions for water, glasses and cutlery. Food is standard but not worth the wait. Hopefully over time they can improve their front of house service.

Staff were having a bad day told us and another table off 2 other tables left before ordering…. They ran out of cutlery while dishes sat at our table for 45 mins whilst we waited for drinks we had pre paid for…. When we tried to cancel the drinks we were told they were taking a while because There was a ‘massive back log’ and then moments later the drinks appeared and the waiter dumped them on the table and rolled his eyes… everything is preordered and paid for… no menus…Did I mention it took a long time to get our meals and then one of them arrived cold because it sat on someone else’s table for a while…. In the end we were laughing with other tables about the ‘outstanding’ service and absolute debacle we found ourselves in!

Says it’s open from 12 to 11, tried to get a seat at 4pm for a drink since it’s advertising a beer garden. Place was pretty much empty, was told they weren’t letting anyone sit down until 5. If they don’t want to serve drinks or food why not just close. If I don’t feel welcome when it’s not busy I would hate to be there when they are busy.

I can honestly say, hands down, this is one of the best places I have ever been. I am coeliac (highly allergic to gluten) and they fully accommodated for me, they even have a seperate fryer for gluten free! The drinks were tasty and I've met with the chef who is beyond kind and gives all around good vibes. I come here almost 2 times a week and they are always kind. Yes, a bit of a wait during peak hours due to FOH shortages but hey, that's the norm nowadays due to COVID. Overall, a lovely experience as always.

We were given a table and had the feeling that it was an inconvenience. Sat down and asked to move to a table out of the sun. Advised tables were booked. Moved anyway.empty restaurant.

Margarita arrived with no salt on the glass. Asked for salt. Told it doesn't come with salt. Had to go through the annoying process of using the qr code to access the menu again to show the unhelpful staff their own menu. Again this seemed an inconvenience. I get the feeling that hospitality is a key ingredients missing here!

Other empty tables sat dirty. Given you have to order and pay via QR codes, surely the staff had a bit more time to clean the place up.

The side of jalapenos arrived with what looked like someone else's sour cream etc on it. Had they fished them off someone else's meal? OK.the food. They have managed to make Mexican more bland than Taco Bill.

Save your money and go across the road to 400 Gradi for amazing food and service.

Mexican is my favourite cuisine, and I can honestly say that their nachos are some of the best nachos I have had, ever! Staff really chilled and relaxed. Drinks menu is pretty good. Personal favourite is the Hot Mess margarita, definitely not for the faint hearted!

Fist time I went with a group of disabled people, the service was warm & friendly, the food was fresh & wonderfully tasty, everyone was impressed with the menu.
I had such a great time went back the following night with my family, we all enjoyed the well presented cocktails & again the food & service was exceptional, my husband & son’s only complaint was not enough food in a serving.

Great food, a good variety of choice, great service and very reasonably priced. A must try lunch or dinner spot.

I went to Naughty Norman a little while ago for dinner. Unfortunately there was either a fault with their chair I was sitting on, or my new jumper. Paint from the chair stained my jumper and I noticed this the next morning, unfortunately I couldn't remove the stains after several washes so I then informed the manager (Sarah) who was extremely helpful and resolved the issue via replacement funds for the jumper.

I didn't expect her to go to such lengths to hear me out and to transfer me funds for a replacement jumper. But regardless thankyou for the amazing customer service and can't thank you enough. Will be back:)

So good! Ordered from here for the first time as a lockdown treat and the food was delicious! Can’t wait until we can dine in soon! Definitely worth trying.

I’ve been here a couple of times but I came back a few days ago with some girlfriends and the new cocktail menu is awesome! Heaps of margarita options from the classics + some new fun recipes. Really cool place for a chill night out for drinks with friends, 10/10 recommend and will be back! ️ Thanks guys!

It was busier than expected for a Tuesday lunch, the waiter couldn't have handled herself any better. A smile all the way, super professional and made a busy service on her own look super easy.

The wings with hot sauce and a cold beer are to die for. I will definitely be back.
The staff are a great and very positive and always full of great ideas for one who can’t make up there mind.

I've been here tons of times and I'm always impressed by how friendly the staff are. Food is great and generous as well. Generally a relaxed atmosphere where you can try some interesting twists on Mexican classics and just enjoy a nice night out. Has been and always will be a local staple. Keep up the good work!

Staff were lovely and vibe was good, however the food not so good.got the HSP wayyy to much food for just two people and I wish they would have mentioned it’s quite a big meal, also got the shrimp taco, the prawn was so fried I could barely eat the taco properly. The guac and corn chips were yummy and also ordered a margarita which was delicious.
But over all I just wish the food was more like fresh, zesty flavoursome Mexican not so much fried Mexican.
