Napier Hotel reviews
57Great classic local pub worth going out of your way to go to, if you know what I mean. Good beer selection. The steak sandwich is awesome.
Old style pub with excellent food! We had the kangaroo salad and one of the specials on the board (cod with pickled mushroom salad) and enjoyed every bite!
This is an authentic, old beauty of a pub. It's decorated with plenty of very charming, witty memorabilia, including Fitzroy footy club photos. Staff obviously enjoy working here, maybe it's the positive vibe this pub gives off, it's in the bones of this building.
If there's a chicken parma heaven, this is the place.
My special thanks to Sam and Joe.
First time eating kangaroo and it was cooked to perfection. The chips and salad were fresh as well. The staff were accommodating as we arrived close to kitchen-closing time.
The short-haired, older lady at the door is dismissive and offensive ("maybe read the news sometime! " She said to me, in an unfortunately undermining tone).
I thought people would be more hospitable, at such a Hotel, and in this industry.
Nice and cozy pub, excellent ambience, great selections of beers, portion is good, loved the calamari, only the seafood marinara can be better if it comes with a thicker sauce and more white wine. Will be back for sure!
Sunday lunch.perfect afternoon for a leisurely and plentiful lunch.delicious food, friendly service and great atmosphere. Thanks
Very happy with the Napier. Visited and ate twice in 3 days. Good food selection with sizeable meals. Full drinks selection
Very cosy pub with friendly staff. They also have an amazing parma with smoked kangaroo instead of ham, can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
A charming pub. This place has natural character and a warm welcome from staff. Our meals were great value; we went for the house speciality of chicken parma with Kangaroo rather than ham. Exceptional value.
My favourite pub in Melbourne. Awesome food, amazing vibe and been kept the same for years. A true classic. Great in winter or summer.
This is a cute local pub in Fitzroy. It's like a mini museum of the Lions. Staff are very friendly too.
Appalling service and wait times, staff were condescending and unhelpful. Paid and ordered a parma up front and waited over 40 minutes and no food arrived, and nobody checked in to let me know.
Asked the waiter - waiter responded, ‘it’s quite standard for 30 minutes. ’ Waiter said they’d go and check, however he didn’t come back or let me know.
After an hour, with still no parma - not sure which pub in Melbourne takes an hour to make a parma on a week night at 9 PM.
Given a cash refund, when I paid via debit card and realised they didn’t refund me for the transaction fee.
Never coming back, unprofessional institution.
Have let my mates know.
Don't know how I've not posted a review yet, but have come here several times over the past few years and it's really a great atmosphere for catching up with friends. Also fantastic pub food and if you like or keen to try kangaroo, probably the best choice in Melbourne.
A very sad turn for a once great pub. This was one of my favourite places in Melbourne, but the current staff seem to have had a very traumatic pandemic (or this is what they insisted on telling me) and apparently think this justifies them behaving with a proud beligerence (that's the kindest why I can describe what we experienced) with regard to unrelated matters (a query re.overcharging). Luckily there are lots of great pubs in the area. After seeing what was going on we decamped to the Union Club Hotel (just two minutes' walk away). Drinks were 25% cheaper, we could sit on the footpath under the trees (much nicer), and the staff seemed to have made it through covid without any hint of nastiness or beligerence (indeed they were lovely). I suggest going there until the poor old Napier sorts itself out.
The Napier delivers time and again. The atmosphere is always great, they have a very good beer selection and the food is awesome.
The staff is always friendly and prices are good for the quality of everything. Highly recommend. One of my favourite pubs in the area (as a local).
Amazing food and service. Definitely one of my favourite places where to catch up for a meal and few beers with friends.
The Kangaroo fillet is a must try of this place
Primo pub food. The steak sandwich is amped up to the next level. Best pub feed in Fitzroy hands down. Will be back next week and probably the week after.
Best Parma in Melbourne.maybe Australia?
Also watch Jack Irish then go there and you feel like youre in a movie set
