Mugen Ramen reviews
78 Hands down the best tsukemen in Melbourne! Personal favourites are the wafu tsukemen and wafu ramen.
Fantastic service, the staff here are always welcoming and friendly!
Can get crowded during dinner time so make a reservation.
Really good ramen and salmon. I love the atmosphere. My fiance and I try to make it in whenever we're in the area.
It was so nice the Japanese ramen. I had two different ramen and it was so yami like a home made by mum. I strongly recommend this restaurant!
Fantastic hidden ramen restaurant. Broth is rich and flavoursome, noodles just the right texture and friendly service. Highly recommended.
In a very typical Melbourne Style, Mugen Ramen is a very small but quaint ramen place, tucked at the back of a small lane off Flinders Lane.
We ordered the Goma Tsukemen and Wafu Ramen. Texture of the dipping sauce for my tsukemen was thick (which I liked) and very flavoursome. The ramen was also very delicious, and was perfect for the cold weather.
Friendly staff, but don't forget to get your table number off the staff member before heading up to the cashier to pay to avoid complications.
I'm a regular customer here, don'w know why I didn't write this earlier. One of the best ramen place around the area. They offer Tsukemen which is dripping ramen, if you're not a fan you still have a choice with regular soupy ones and they are great still. Also love their lunch menu, shame they don't do that weekends. Love the environment love the service. This is always one of the place comes in to mind when people ask for ramen recommendation. You will not be disappointed unless you're ramen / Japanese food hater
After visiting the vast majority of ramen establishments in and around Melbourne I was eager to tick Mugen off our list as we have heard some good things especially in the way of their dipping ramen. We were seated quickly at 8: 30pm on a Monday night and some great service was provided. We all ordered the larger size of the dishes ($2 extra. Around $19 per ramen) I ordered the TanTan Men - I thought this was okay the stock was rich and for the most part tasty. The stock had an incredible amount of saltiness to it though something I’ve never experienced in a ramen before. I woke up the next morning extremely dehydrated. The noodles were the real highlight. Very good texture. The dishes my friends ordered were so/so the curry tsukemen was pretty average. For $19 I feel like you should get more than one piece of Charshu pork. The dipping sauce tasted way too heavily of curry powder. Not a flavour but an onslaught.
In saying that the overall experience was pleasant but with the amount of outstanding ramen restaurants in Melbourne for what is seemingly better value I’m not sure I’ll be rushing back.
Lovely little tucked away restaurant. Go underground for a fast lunch if short on time. Recommended!
Great thick ramen noodles and lovely staff! I'm rating 4 stars for now, because I want to go back and try more dishes
One of those hidden-underground places of melbourne CBD alleyways that turned out to be such a surprise
Cool space but the food was very average and a bit bland. Lots of much better ramen options not far away.
Such an excellent ramen! Great food, great service. Not very big, so it's not very loud, in fact, it is quite cosy.
Pretty average standard ramen house. Broth is tasty and noodles are soft but overpriced for what you get, literally a single piece of meat and only half an egg which is less than what you get for cheaper and tastier ramens elsewhere in the city.
Rang up to make a reservation for 7pm. Was told that there for no available reservations for that time but if we came at 6pm when they opened we would be able to be seated without a reservation. We arrived at 6pm and were seated, shortly after we were told that someone else had reserved our table and we were asked to leave. Possibly my favourite ramen in Melbourne but will not be returning after such rude, disorganised service.
Miso Ramen broth had very little flavour and did not taste like much. The gyoza was luke warm and fried too short, too hot. Didn't boil it in the pan either, also not much taste to it. Beer was good. Overall disappointed.
The atmosphere is nice but their ramen and tsukemen was bit disappointing. The noodles were too hard and the soup didn’t have much taste. Their chashu was great though.
The place to go for dipping ramen. Very good homemade noodles, the dipping sauce is thick and nice. One of the closest ramen you could other then japan. And probably the only place that will give you hot water to turn the sauce into soup.
