Friendly prompt service, food was enjoyable, coffee was decent. Can get super loud inside when it's full as it's only small but otherwise cute and cosy. Great selection of cakes and sweet treats.
If I had to pick on anything it would be the pricing. Definitely charging a fair bit more than the majority of cafes.
A serve of eggs $15.90! Served with only one piece of toast - very stingy.
Sides range from $5.50 to $6.90 so you're paying minimum $21 to add ONE side.
I have been to many cafes in and around Melbourne and I must admit that this is a little steep. I don't think the food is that special to warrant such prices.

So, I’ve tried all the cafes along McKinnon going towards Brighton way after the train station, and I would say that mr burch beats the existing surrounding cafes. The coffee has a punch and flavour and it is honestly the best coffee I have had, along with the muesli cake with the raspberry centre and the muffins! Keep up the good work guys your coffee is hands down delicious!

Really wish I had some of the reviews on this place before coming. Whilst the waiters are nice enough, we were seated upstairs and not attended to for about 15 minutes. Coffee came out quick enough, we ordered our food, waited another 15-20 minutes to then only be told there’s a wait on food and that it will be another 20+ minutes. The delay would have been good to know from the start, not once we’ve already waited an excessive amount of time. After mentioning this to the waiter, we were told “You can cancel and go elsewhere”…. Not even an explanation as to why it was so delayed, and no, the cafe was not overly busy. There was plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Very average, and the excessive wait times do not justify the food nor the lacklustre service. Would not recommend unless for takeaway coffee.

Great, friendly and caring staff. We ordered mixed berry pancake with cream and the special menu for the day that was blue cheese omelette. Overall, they tasted fine, but we would like to get more pancakes for the price we paid.

Best place for the breakfast and lunch … I took my wife there on date. And she loved it. Don’t forget to go upstairs just to have a look.

Mr. Burch is quite frankly sensational. As a regular visitor to cafe’s, this one is a true stand out. From the food, service, relaxed environment. It is the break away from home, we all need and crave for. In fact its so good, this the first time I have written a review for a restaurant Already look forward to my next visit! An to those that wrote negative reviews as Fidel Castro said, they where never for the revolution!

A true hidden gem. Innovative menu, food always tastes great and is presented beautifully. Great vibe and live music on a Sunday morning what a way to start the day.

Went there with my girlfriend the other week and the customer service was appalling. These people clearly don't care about their customers.

They obviously get local people they know to write good reviews to drown the bad ones, but please don't bother with this place. It's overpriced, the owners are unfriendly and the bad reviews they have received are all unfortunately correct.

I read below they charged a couple $17 to replace a broken salt shaker by their baby. COME ON! That's disgraceful. Surely you don't want to support a place like this

This cafe is so close to home, I don't know why I didn't try it earlier. It's fairly small on the inside, and the first table we were shown to was a little cramped, so they kindly sat us at another table which was perfect. There's a nice selection to choose from for both breakfast and lunch, and we all happened to settle on the same toasted sandwich which we all loved.
The staff were friendly, the service was quick and the food was reasonably priced. While I don't drink coffee, the other two in my group do, and they said it was really good. I definitely won't leave it too long until I come back here again.

Absolutely brilliant. Hidden gem. Have lived in the area for almost thirty years, and it was a friend who comes here regularly from BRIGHTON that got me to try!

- Interior and decor: 10/10 (it feels like you've gone to Hepburn Springs).

- Service: 10/10 (attentive, polite, fast, kind).

- Food: 11/10 (just sensational).

- Coffee and soy Chai lattes: 10/10.

Absolutely brilliant. My new regular!

I've noticed some extremely negative reviews from what appears to be a troubled set of mothers who perhaps regret having children (?) : don't take your choices out on others.

Highly recommended.

Nice cafe but it takes too long to be served food. If they improved that aspect, it would be a 5 star cafe. As I’m still waiting for my food, I’ve had time to post this review.

Storming very cold wet morning and was told to wait outside with my children for our take away coffee. Only a handful of people in cafe… and we were waiting quietly in the corner out of everyone’s way.
When I said it was too cold for the children to stand outside the staff told me they were well dressed enough and continued to try and force us to wait outside in the rain.

As it took 15 minutes for the coffee to arrive it was an unreasonable request.

Disappointing a ‘policy’ (that cannot be viewed anywhere in cafe) cannot be flexible for terrible weather … especially with young kids involved.

Gave the cafe a second chance after waiting an hour and ha for eggs on Saturday…

Expecting a similar response to the one the lady received with the crying child, which I was shocked to read.

*** in response to the reply, claiming I’m stressed by having small children, that’s the same response you’ve given to all the other mums that have had issues with your staff and service. Your responses towards negative feedback is unprofessional. Take it on board, it’s important to listen to your customers… mum shaming isn’t cool, we aren’t all stressed and out of our minds.just prefer our children to wait for their over priced cookies inside and out of the rain…

The wait staff are lovely but I just can't recommend eating here when it takes 45 minutes for a food order to arrive. The coffee is good though.

Very comfortable outdoor seating. Friendly staff who are ready to take your order promptly. My partner and I both enjoyed our brunch, although I did feel my chorizo was on the dry, tough side. This may have been because it was slit into about 6 long strips - attractive on the plate but never something I would order again. On the whole a positive experience.

Please do not patronise this establishment. I had an unusual, disturbing experience here where the kitchen, for reasons unknown, carved a RIDICULOUSLY HOT CHILLI into the shape of a flower and put it on the top of my meal.

Thinking it was capsicum, I ate it, and I was in excruciating pain, visibly crying, for the remainder of my time here.

When I reported this to the waiter, his response: "Yes, it's just like a woman, pretty but painful. " Absolutely disgusting.

I'd ordered this meal before, and never had it been topped by a chilli. Beware of this place.

I was really impressed by this cafe. I've been there previously for coffee sitting out in the sunshine; this time, we sat inside being served by the owner. Food is brought in from some hidden kitchen. And what was pleasantly surprising was the discovery of another area for patrons to sit upstairs, away from all of the cacophony of everyone else.
Very nicely produced coffee and brunch!
