Mother Dough reviews
67Incredible, buzzing on a Thursday evening and for very good reason! Handmade pasta & pizza bases, great quality ingredients, great wine. The bufalina pizza is hands down the best pizza I've eaten in Aus!
We booked Mother Dough to meet friends. Booking confirmed and reminders sent.
We arrived and the restaurant was closed. No communication at all from them, but a reminder from The Fork to go. First and last time. Just an awful way to treat your customers!
Absolutely a wonderful place. Jeff really took care of us, Sat with us and chatted. Wonderful people, food and atmosphere.seriously just a great place
If you want to eat a genuine no compromise Italian with real soul, well this is the place!
Incredibly personalised service, attention to detail was clear. The service and food were excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect for an intimate date night with my wife. All pasta is home made and fresh, and the meals delicious. We will certainly be returning again to work out way through the menu (and wine list!)
My partner and I went to Mother Dough yesterday evening for the first time, and it was delightful. Very calm/friendly atmosphere, polite staff, and the food! - I had the Gluten Free fettuccine with Bolognese sauce, and it was absolutely delicious. It's really hard to find good GF pasta when dining out, but I would recommend Mother Dough to anyone with a (Coeliac) dietary requirement. We will be returning!
They are amazing people! My son wanted carbonara which is off their menu, but they made it anyway. The pasta was so good, we will come back for more!
We had a lovely dinner in this cosy venue. Delicious meatballs and antipasto platter to start with and tasty pizza and authentic pasta for mains. Thanks Jeff and staff for the top notch service and a great night, we'll be back to try the gnocci and the wild boar pasta!
Went with my wife and kids and had a great time. Food and service was perfect and highly recommend!
This restaurant has been one of the most incredible dining experiences that both myself and my partner have ever had. The food was delicious, and the customer service exceeded our expectations. I knew that I wanted a risotto, but I wasn’t quite sure what sort of risotto I wanted. The chef came out and spoke to me, and together we decided on the perfect dish. The atmosphere was lovely and the music very much a vibe (Moby is a vibe). Do yourself a favour and enjoy this experience with your loved ones. Don’t worry about splitting the bill, spoil those you care about. This is hospitality as an art form and can’t wait to come back.
Split a pizza off the takeaway lunch specials menu with a friend from work. Ordered a Napoletana that came with anchovies and olives? When we went back to say we think this is the wrong pizza the Owner looked at us like we were stupid and was offered no resolution because apparently “their” Napoletana has anchovies and olives on it.
As these two ingredients are quite controversial ingredients, would be great to have it on both menus, and this is traditionally not what a Napoletana is.
Spent lunch picking it all of but it ruined the pizza anyway
Mother Dough is a Hawthorn staple for pizza but it also has excellent pasta options too.
Came here with a group of 5, the staff were all excellent, helpful, happy to make changes to the menu where we asked and very friendly.
We had some starter which were good to chase the had pasta for mains, which was all very tasty and hand made pasta is a nice touch. We shared some pizza which was tasty, well cooked and sliced for 5 to share (showing they care).
Well worth a meal here, best to book as it can get busy.
I have been to mother dough tonight and on many many other occasions & it never fails to amaze me. Hands down the best Italian food in Melbourne ️ run by a lovely, warm family. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough!
Doesn't split bills.charged us $6 extra for splitting bill. Pizza avg for woodfired pizza and overpriced @ $30+ for a pizza.
Amazing dough. Truly so why it's called mother dough. Please order the garlic and herb focaccia you will not regret it.
Venue was extremely loud given we were seated upstairs where there was no where else for sound to escape. Can be a bit hard to get the wait staff's attention at times.
I love Mother Dough wood fried pizza and fantastic foods, everyone's must try this place.
Geoff we love your foods, Thanks will come again to have your fantastic food.
Wow, great food and very reasonable prices. I brought a group of 10 people to celebrate my birthday. Everyone was very complimentary about the restaurant.
Really fresh pasta. Authentic. Pizza was delicious as well. Definitely taking family and friends back there. Nice ambience.
Had high hopes given the 4.5 rating but was sorely disappointed. We ordered the seafood pasta and lamb fettuccine Ragu. Both dishes were average at best. The fettuccine was not cooked properly - several clumps pasta that were stuck together. The lamb had at least 3 pieces of small bones in it.
Service was sub par - waitress wasn’t that friendly, forgot to bring water and we had to ask for sharing plates when the entrée came out.
Tables were not set when we were seated down and a dirty table next to us was left uncleared for at least 20min.
Mother Dough make a big deal about their dough, and are very proud of it. I can only agree 100% plus. Their pizzas have a great variety of well designed toppings (Rosso & Bianco), using fabulous produce. Their bases are absolutely outstanding! Delicious, thin, crisp, and they don't go soggy. They speak truth about their bases, and it really makes a big difference. The base is joy, not just a blank pallette. You have to try this place! Just tried it recently, and I wish I knew earlier. Definitely in the top few % of Melbourne pizza, and I don't say that lightly. This is my new pizza home.
