Mocha Jo's Restaurant reviews
82Fantastic breakfast food and tasty coffee. The staff were also incredibly professional, ensuring that everyone was COVID-compliant and well looked after on a freezing Melbourne morning.
A solid player in the Glen Waverly food scene, they have been around fora while but haven't lost their edge, great food, great service and great scene.
Mocha Jo's are a great spot to visit with the family. They have exceptional service and the food is outstanding.
The all day kid's menu is great too, with options such as toasties, eggs, waffles, granola, spaghetti and a kid's burger. They especially understand the fussiness of some kids and have alterations such as plain pasta with parmesan cheese, Napoli sauce, and the option to add meatballs. We also loved the addition of granola to the kid's menu. The main menu is superb too and the food is well presented.
Kid's Egg with Toast & Kid's Granola (Served with Strawberries and Lemon Sorbet).
Louisiana Waffles (House-made with fried egg, Southern Fried Chicken, Maple Glazed Bacon & Sriracha Sauce).
Traditional Linguini Carbonara (Fresh Proschiutto, egg emulsion, proschiutto and parmesan cheese).
Definitely a venue that ticks all the boxes. After 20 years of service, they know their local market well and go beyond meeting expectations.
Best coffee, best food and best service, this has been our go-to for as long as I can remember.
Always good. It's nice that they have vegan meals on their menu. Staff are always so friendly too. Food is delicious and is cooked fairly quickly. The coffee is good and they have several non-dairy milk choices.
Cakes are delicious too. It gets busy so arrive early or try booking!
The best breakfast and delicious coffee. The service is quick and the quantity is ample. Perfect place for a good morning ️
Ordered the Morrocan fried eggs with chorizo. The chorizo was hard and chewy. Service was good, but the food quality has declined significantly. The overall price hike does not justify the quality of food.
What a great brunch, a big thanks to Georgia (!) so welcoming for all of us, including Lulu great table service, terrific food.
Chilli cheese scramble eggs were perfect! Highly recommended if you like something spicy~ adding cherry tomatoes to the dish were perfect, they balanced out the heaviness of the cheese, added some light and fresh taste to it. Also their staffs are always nice and friendly.
Great Cafe also serves lunch and dinner but the coffee and cakes are why you're here! Good spot to catch up with mates and talk. They have outdoor heaters so you can still enjoy a table outside if you choose. Very warm and welcoming staff.
This Cafe has been around since before The Glen was hip (back when Airstream was the only restaurant here) and is still here! Which should show how good the Cafe is having survived economic crashes and pandemics given other businesses on the same street have closed down since.
Didn't start well and didn't end well.
Had another table seated at my 7 o'clock with the back of our chairs 1cm apart.
I thought being previously visited by a Covid positive you guys would at least seat people with some kind of distance?
Switch tables and finally got a chance to read the menu, only to be met with overpriced meals. Example, $29.90 for a big breakfast (and yes there's a surcharge for card payments).
Ordered fried fish and chips which arrived warm.
Finally after leaving 20 minutes or so, I had diarrhea.
Thanks for nothing!
Always love their vibes there. Always busy but wait staff are making you comfortable and relaxed. Nice food and drinks, slightly on an average pricey-er cafe side but it’s worth it! Their pasta, risotto, ice coffee and peach ice tea were my all time favourites!
Service was attentive and friendly High quality food, really tasty and well presented. Everything was absolutely delicious! We ordered Louisana Waffles, MJ Works, Moroccan Spiced Calamari and my Crab Cake Benedict was to die for!
Mediocre food, poor service, and packed with racists vullifying LGBT. I wish to amend my earlier impressions of this iconic Glen Waverly Cafe Bar, which, because it's been sitting on that corner for so long, people, I mean local, peoole are so reluctant to criticise. Speaking as an English expat who is about to return to his native city of London, I confess I have no real problems with the place even if the Asian restaurant next offers restaurant style cuisine for the same price as what's on offer at Mocca Jones, I yet feel that it is only laziness which prevents people from taking a few steps further to their right. Being a restaurant critic for The Observer in London I trust won't influence those whose opinions are rooted in the traditional Aussie approach to what is bland and lifeless, preferring instead the idiotic staff to remember them from their last visit. This is of course why the Aussies are 10 yrs behind London in modern urban relaxed dining. Please excuse any typo errors.

Alas! It seems I'm going after all. How I shall miss Mocca Joe's! A place I revered for its non judgemental attitude where ephemeral gossip and such was ignored by its liberal customers and staff with their belief that there were always 2 sides to a rumour. The staff may be moronic, in their world reigning supreme, but who cares when the food is as good as anything you're likely to get next door. It has been a real privilege for an outsider to have experienced, if only briefly, the liberally of management and the odd one or two young men and women who had striven to make a mediocre corner drop by a place to remember with such affection as I feel, thank Christ, on the other side of the world.
Excellent service, amazing waitress who is very outgoing, good memory. Very welcoming, theres even a chinese menu. Delicious food, especially the tiramisu
Great cosy corner Cafe in the heart of the Glen Waverley food strip. Great atmosphere with freindly and bubbly staff catering to your needs. The food quality great and brought out very timely.
Would definitely recommend this cafe during the breakfast period with a large variety in the menu, vegetarian and vegan options are available. Try their delicious 'Louisiana Waffles' for a explosion of flavors (personal favorite)
Try it for yourself and be impressed!
I believe it's now under new management. Coffee wasn't as great as before, although still a great and cosy little place for lunch etc.
Nice ambience, although it could get a little noisy inside the restaurant due to the acoustics. Service was pleasant and we loved the sangria.
Great service, the staff were super friendly and got to know our group immediately. Very attentive and able to give us suggestions in drinks and food to try.
Bacon was burnt and dry
Waste of $20 as i only had a bite
Better to say maccas bacon is at least moist
Will i come back? Never, not in a million chance, even if they say for free
I rather go maccas
