Mocha Jo's Restaurant reviews
82 I usually go to Mocha Jo’s cafe daily and spend about $10.50 to buy a coffee and a croissant. About $73.50 a week. I have been visiting this restaurant almost daily for seventeen years. Yearly it amounts to $3,832.50, but more than that because sometimes I have a meal. I supported Mocha Jo’s daily throughout the past three months of lock-downs from August to November 2021 and even bought hot dogs on the nature strip when they could not trade under normal circumstances inside the restaurant. Now almost 80% are fully vaccinated and supposedly protected against the virus, according to what we are told by the media. I was turned away because I am un-vaccinated. The waiter whom told me to leave is the guy second from the left on their website photograph. If the vaccine does not protect people from un-vaccinated customers that are healthy then there is probably no need for it. So I won’t support this business owner any longer.
It may be that the owner wants to stay in business but the sad thing for him of course is that this vaccine he himself must have taken to remain open could cause him blood clots, heart inflammation, brain fog, the list goes on and on in terms of vaccine side-effects. That is the reason people choose not to get vaccinated, not because they do not want to follow governmental rules and regulations.
And to the owner; don't care so much about Google Ratings, care about your health instead because if you are dead and gone, who is going to look after your family?
Food was delicious but even more than that it was the excellent service by everyone. Went above and beyond to make my friends birthday lunch a little extra special.
Ok, whenever we are around this area, we always say let's come here and today is the day. We came!
Service & Ambience [3.5] We wanted to find an outdoor table but left with only one table of two, near the crossing. Heading in we asked if there is any table for two, well mostly reserved the staff said. So no choice we took that table outside. Inside, nothing special and typical cafe style.
Food [4] If anyone of us have been to any cafe for breakfast, we would have already been familiar the type of food where most cafe would sell. Difference will be the price, portion and taste.
Our orders were placed quite quickly and didn't wait too long for food to arrive. Coffee is good. The bacon, I would prefer much crispy. The hash brown was unique and taste good.
Outdoor could be a problem. The flies. Well we did have fries on our plate but the flies, we didn't order but came naturally. So we were like swinging our arms while eating. I didn't check out if the cafe has this UV light that attracts flies so hopefully there are.
It tastes good and the coffee is very good!
But it feels like the price has increased a lot compared to before.
Mocha Jo’s restaurant truly sets the gold standard for customer service. When they learned it was our friend's birthday, they went the extra mile. Not only did they surprise her with a mini cake, but their singing was excellent. I can't emphasise enough how much I recommend this restaurant, and I will definitely be coming back.
Came here on a cold Saturday morning. Unfortunately there were no tables inside, so we sat outside, the overhead heaters were good, but not the greatest heat emitting from it. The breeze was still felt through the plastic covering.
We ordered the burger and the chicken and waffles. The chicken with the waffles was well seasoned, and the sauce that came with it was excellent. The waffles were okay, not great, but not bad. Eat it while it's hot to keep the crisp and crunchiness of the chicken and the waffles. The burger was good, but the highlight were the fries. They grow on you slowly, and after awhile they just get better. The burger patty was well seasoned, however became cold quick. Nothing really special about the burger overall.
Now, the coffee. Iced Long Black, amazing. The taste was fantastic, one of the best coffees I've had since coming back to Australia. Added, a cup of sparkling water to cleanse your taste buds. Now, I don't like lattes myself, but my partner said the Latte was very nice as well.
Overall, fantastic experience, and will definitely be back to try other dishes!
Came for an affagato, late night treat. Was charged $15, for a coffee and scoop of ice cream? Ridiculous
This is by far my favourite place to get desserts - my family loves the sticky date pudding and treats customers extremely well. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is wonderful and is a place I would recommend to anyone visiting the area or even if you’re staying or living pretty far it is worth the drive!
Thank you guys so much for making my lockdown bday special ️ I'm sorry I was on the phone when you dropped my croissant off, the earthquake was a bit scary to some people and they needed reassurance, but it was amazing gesture.
Honestly 10/10 service, can't believe you guys went through so many hoops for a simple order. Food and coffee was really good, massive reps.
Amazing service throughout the lockdown. I have ordered a few breakfasts for me and the family over the last few months and always ready and hot when I arrive. Great service and friendly staff can't go wrong with a meal from Mocha Jos
Went here and haven't even finished half my plate and this man waiter just took my plate away without asking if I was even finished. Will never be back!
Went to get some BBQ. Gotta give them credit for pivoting during lockdown. When I went there weren’t many people waiting. The cafe was highly ventilated and people were waiting outside for their food. Food itself was alright. Nothing amazing but nice to get out on a sunny day.
Come here nearly daily for a coffee as they're pretty consistent with a really nice cup! They must be trained properly on the coffee machines. Hate when you get a bitter coffee somewhere!
We're in the middle of lockdown and these guys are running a sausage sizzle with zero social distancing and staff actively serving the crowd.
Absolute selfishness and disrespect.
Worst meal I have had for a very long time and we eat out all the time. I am not even going to waste my time explaining. If you want decent food - stay away if you just want somewhere to sit and have a coffee BUT NO FOOD it is ok I suppose
Great service. Busy but got our food very quickly and were taken care of very well. Food is on point.
Great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Food is top, outdoor and indoor tables, great vibes for everyone.
Very busy, but incredible staff made this venue a joy to visit. The manager runs a great crew and the service was superb. Can't comment about the food (didn't eat), but the coffee was very good. I look forward to heading back there soon, this time for a meal. Excellent work everyone. Jewel of Melbourne!
I love the creativity of their menu.
We had the Crab Cake Benedict served in a bowl, 2 pcs of crab cake, a pc of rectangular hash brown and a cute serve of spinach for $20.90, expensive for its portion size, I won’t recommend for a big eater and for someone wanting a value for their money in my person opinion and the Avo and Egg for breakfast is for me is a creative dish, can be veganize, and yes its a colorful dish for a breakfast, a healthy choice of a meal.
I love their Soy-Chai Latte and Coffee is good as well, not burnt.
The staffs are accomodating and friendly, a well heated place, too.
Check their display fridge for some desserts.
Pram and wheelchairs are not advisable for indoor dining.
The burgers are on a new level, Mocha Jo’s with their burgers are putting new flavour combinations that don’t come with no ordinary burger, I got the chance to have their southern Cali burger and it was on another level.sweet, salty but just enough of both to hit that sweet spot. Hats off to the head chef
