Mitcham Hotel

Really underrated pub in the south eastern suburbs. Came with the folks to shout them dinner and my goodness. The pork belly was half the size of the plate, and tasted like Christmas. Daniella was our server and besides her friendly smile her charisma is what made our night. The atmosphere is so nice and the space is very open. Can't wait to come back

We came on a Wed night at 6: 15pm - my husband and adult son. We were greeted by a friendly girl and shown to our table. Entrees we ordered cheesy garlic bread with bacon bits and it was gooey and delicious. They ordered spicy chicken wings which they agreed were spicy and flavourful. For mains we ordered chicken Parma with chips and salad - this was a decent size but not too big. My husband had the bourbon pork belly with veggies which we said was a decent piece of pork and he enjoyed it. My son had the pork belly burger and gave it the thumbs up! Our waitress Danielle was lovely and Manager Matt was also very friendly and lovely. So do yourselves a favour and pop in one night!

Easily one of the worst dining experiences in recent memory. Food took forever to to be served. People who had arrived thirty minutes later were served before us.

Fish and chips were oozing oil all over the plate. Vegetable sides were enormous chunks of cauliflower and broccoli - barely cooked, rock hard and no seasoning. Schnitzel was completely dried out. Sausages looked like they had been pre-boiled and quickly thrown in a pan for some colour. Chips were overcooked, dry and hard. Most guests on our table didn't even eat their meals.

Wait staff were courteous but there were definitely not enough of them for a full bistro.

This is the second miserable experience at The Mitcham Hotel. We will not be back.

Great venue for afternoon drinks.
Love the fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. Staff very welcoming and nice vibe. Will definitely be back

Matthew our wait staff person was so excellent and made our family feel so welcome and taken care of. We had a lovely time for my mums birthday:)

Steak was nice but Seaford platter was very disappointing not what it showed on the menu, certainly overpriced for what we got and no presentation. Not enough staff, very rushed. Won’t be going back.

Enjoyed a delicious dinner and drinks here last Friday before seeing an excellent lineup of comedians in the upstairs function room headlined by Tony Martin. Looking forward to next month’s gig very much.

Worst pub in the eastern suburbs.

Last Saturday ordered a Mitcham cheeseburger. It was extremely dissapointing.

The service was all over the place.

The drinks were very warm and tasted funny.

The prices are far too high. Seriously $19 for a sloppy Joe burger.

If eminem was a burger.this is a non vanilla ice friendly joint. They dont stop, collaborate and listen to your concerns about asking for extra serviettes, aioli for my chips or other queries.

Yo word to the owner, respond to your feedback and take some criticism to improve your peculiar pub.

It's not what you serve, its the way you serve it.

I'd like to drop that zero and get with the hero yo. Sadly I cant do this for the star rating.

I have girlies on my tip. But i ain't going to give this pub a tip.

The food is good. This is the only pub I have ever been to where a staff member went into the playground and told the children to be quiet. Not family-friendly at all for a pub with a playground. We won't be booking any family birthdays here again.

Chris always gives very friendly and welcoming service. Makes the late night visits very nice.

Nice Pub. We’ve visited the Mitcham Hotel many times over the years and never been disappointed with anything.
The only criticism if any, the staff can be a bit “iffy” at times. Like they would rather be somewhere else. The food is always good so I guess that makes up for it.

Order fillet steak was ok but the chips were cold and soggy ordinary for $ paid
would not go there again

My pulled pork burger tasted like those chicken satay microwaveable rolls 7/11 used to sell about 20 years ago. The fries were stale, limp and barely warm. It was gross but my parents liked their food so you at least get 2 stars.

Unfortunately it wad for my brother inlaws wake but we did definitely have a good time.
Only issue is my partner passed in may this year than his brother October so my step son was quiet anxious, upset, devastated and felt that he was going to throw up so instead of trying to walk theu the bistro where ppl were eating he went out the sports bar exit and didn't make it to the bottom of the steps before he threw up. Several if family members and friends including my step son said that we would clean it up but we're refused even though they wanted to belittle him and say if he did it again he would b asked to leave and banned.

Stopped by for lunch and was impressed with the cleanliness of the place and friendliness of all the staff. The food was delicious!

Horrible food and Dreadful service from a very rude man.
This place has really gone off!
It's been a few years since we went to the Mitcham for dinner and it used to be a pretty good pub bistro.
The food was really horrible.
The parma was lukewarm.
The chips were dry, cold, overcooked and badly flavoured from being cooked in old, burnt oil.
The fried fish was cooked in the same burnt oil and the batter was dreadful.
The salads had a small squirt of a brown vinegar dressing, but it wasn't enough to cover any of the leaves other than the very top.
The online drinks menu shows all wines unavailable by the bottle and only shows bottled beer. We went to the bar so we could order a couple of schooners on tap and I asked the grumpy old barman why there were no wines available by the bottle. He very brusqely told us that "the wine list is over there". Apparently you are not supposed to order drinks from the online menu and it does not display what is actually available. He could at least have been polite when talking to us.
The waitresses who brought our food and cleared the table were very pleasant but they couldn't make up for the horrible food and the stroppy old sod behind the bar.
Stay away!

Had steak and veggies. Steak was ok- just ok. Veggies were poor quality, and almost cold (paid extra for them too) and chips cold. Don’t expect rapid service with staff shortages these days, but when not busy it took a loooong time to make a steak some veggies and chips. Value for money? No, feeI I overpaid for what I got and the service provided. Lower end of pub fare at mid to high prices: edible but not ‘good’. BTW the ugly pictures they have of the fool are an accurate reflection of what you get. Great place for a drink and the pokies.

Not happy with hotel trying to force seniors to use qr code to order meals to receive discount on meals.

It's ok but nothing special, very noisy, serving of food took more than 1 hour after we ordered. My parmigiana was dry & burnt, I understand it's a difficult time but it does not excuse burnt food. My husband's roast was excellent
