Mexican Republic

Was seated and weren’t asked if we wanted menus until 5 minutes later. After we were served we waited 50 minutes just for three burritos. Food was decent but not worth the wait. Small portions.

Ordered take away when the restaurant was not busy. Waited over an hour for a meal that was cold and sub par.

Small menu but quality food. Tacos were awesome and beer was cold. Perfect afternoon snack

The staff were friendly and nice and the atmosphere was good, tucked away from the beach. Got the charred corn which was average in flavour compared to other places in past for $9 each. The vegan burrito was enjoyed by my other half. The chicken one though was quite dry and lacked flavour. It needed extra sauce and fresher poultry. Overall it was okay but not a highlight sadly.

No joke literally the BEST tacos I've had in Australia so far. Truly a hidden gem in Lorne.

Waited 1 hour for 3 average $22 chicken burritos with no chicken in it. Go elsewhere.

But, if you like quinoa and beans in your bland burrito this is the place for you!

Don’t go here. Very poor value for your spend unfortunately. Was great. Not so good atm. Hope they can get back on track.

Good Mexican restaurant in Lorne. Really enjoyed my fish burrito. The corn chips are really good but the salsa was a little mild. Luckily there's 3 different hot sauces on the table so we were able to spice it up!

Nice service, good ambiance outside but our meals were basic and not very tasty so disappointing

Broken table, ordered a few beers and they never came had to get up go inside and reorder them. We came as a group of 12. Food was average, sangria was made with cheap wine. Owner came out at one point and just stared at me, most likely because I kept using the hot sauce to flavor the bland food. If you think this is good Mexican you haven't eaten Mexican before.

Don't let the fact that Mexican Republic can only offer take away (currently) put you off. The food is magnificent, there are benches & tables nearby on the foreshore, and the hosts are friendly and hardworking. Great, genuine Mexican street food type menu. We had Quesadillas & Burritos and they were incredible.

Great vibe, great food, great venue and service was fast and friendly. I’d call the food a Mexican fusion…maybe not everyone’s authentic Mexican but it certainly ticked all boxes for us. Yummy

Friendly service. We had the veg burrito w guacomole and pulled pork taco. We waited for quite a while for food that we found bland and lukewarm. Menu boring and overpriced. Better to eat at home.

Stopped in last minute and was extremely happy with everything! Yummy, fresh food and drinks. Margs were one of the best I’ve had in a long time.:)

Limited options and healthy versions of Mexican food. Nothing too fancy, Tasted like a homemade burrito with quinoa and no cheese. Too pricey! But good experience overall!

We went on a Tuesday night and had a mixture of food, including the sensational tacos. All in all the service and food were great, so we will definitely be back next time we are in Lorne.

Best burrito I’ve ever had! Ground Beef & Pork but add guacamole (on recommendation of the waiters). The way they crumb the tortilla chip into the burrito giving it textural depth.
I cannot recommend this place enough!

Food is beautiful but a little pricey compared to other Mexican restaurants. Ordering on the app while seated at the restaurant takes away the personal service and ability to ask about certain dishes. You can't book a table either which is annoying. Staff were friendly though.

Food was tasty, but fairly expensive for what you got. They encourage you to order via the QR code/app, which I personally like, as it is very convenient, but they charge an additional 6% for the privilege.
