Melbourne High School

The very extensive variety of of extra-curricular activities is phenomenal and is probably the channel that allowed me to cultivate some of the greatest friendships. But I would NOT send my children here. Although the academic prowess prevails and the student welfare centre is strong, many (I will not say majority however) students here are not interested in building each other up and supporting one another unless they are students of the same clique. This school breeds an arrogant and uncooperative mentality where many students are so focused on their academic results and will step on others to get ahead in life. This mentality also became detrimental to many students' mental health.

Moreover, despite the few teachers that were empowering to me, many teachers do not teach effectively and expect too much of their students.

I am not in a position above anyone else to suggest better pedagogical methods, but this is my true and honest opinion purely from what I experienced during my four years at Melbourne High. There were also numerous cases of bullying that occurred which often went unnoticed or were suppressed by students who simply didn't care. This is definitely not the school to attend if you wish for your child to grow up with good interpersonal skills and good understanding of the outside world. Many of my closest friends with whom I attended this school agree with me.

Got my chance for student exchange back in 2009 in this super cool school. All the teacher and students were friendly, the building is historical, and they got really good meal at the canteen

Love the council meetings and the fountain of holy water.

Rest of the school leaves something to be desired although there are 1 or 2 teachers that can really make the subject work.

In remembrance of the lads, Mr Cornell and Flanno, may their names be remembered for generations to come.

P. S there is a drink tap at the back of the the second story of the gym and it dispenses the holy water which has enabled us to create a prosperous religion, it also hard carried us through our exams.

My experiences at the school have been pretty solid so far, but more importantly, the newly discovered fountain of holy water in the second floor of the gym is the reason I actually wanna do P. E.

Amazing School. Don’t believe the people who didn’t pass the entrance exam and are now posting bad reviews about Melbourne High School when they don’t even attend this school. The teachers here are great, students can use the swimming pool, during lunch, the gymnasium is used to relieve stress, and this school has an overall friendly environment. 100% recommend this school to anyone who wants to do well and work hard.

I attended this school twenty four years ago, and my heart is still blithesome and my fancy is still free. I recommend it for any lad who wants the hours to fly swift, in work and/or in play. Fain would I have lingered, but alas, youth turned to manhood. School days passed and I must awayed.

Good school but not so great in summer. The air con seemed to go missing and some rooms dont even have a fan.

Personally not worth going to if you do not get involved at all with the school. However, if you actually do stuff in the school (extracurricular) and you work hard, 100 percent should go. You will meet a diverse group of people who live all over Melbourne and your test scores will most likely go down.

Nothing but praise for Melbourne High. Supportive teaching staff and a great learning environment. Both of my children attend and have made a lovely group of friends. They are doing extremely well with their studies. If you get the chance, have your children sit the exam.

Melbourne High is a very well regarded public sector school that has a selective entry stream for high achieving students. As a free public school it is exceptional value when compared to its private school peers.

Great school to attend. Made mates and memories for life. Speak to an old boy if you want a second opinion on the school.

Man this is actually a great school. Like at first I thought oh wow another "smart" school but when I came here it was truly a different experience. It is truly "More than just marks. "

The teachers are terrible and they don't teach your kids anything. Campus is falling apart however it's not that bad
