Medical One - Sydenham

My wife and I have been going to Medical One Sydenham since 2006. Dr Michael Hocking has treated us with great care and attention. Thank you to all the reception as well.

Had a 9am appointment and told to wait in the car park. At 10am there’s still no word from the doctor. Contact reception who said they’ll contact the doctor. 30 mins later still nothing. Try calling reception and it rings out several times. Eventually get through and the receptionist says the same thing, “I’ll let the doctor know you’re waiting” then hung up. Not very professional. 2 hours later and still no word. How can they be running so far behind for a 9am appointment? Poor communication. Better off elsewhere.

I only go to this clinic for convenience of location. I’ve had maybe 5-10 appointments in the last 6 months and not once have I had a good experience.
People seem to love Dr Hocking but when I went to him with an issue (to do with a previous injury) he said “just wait a couple of weeks and see how you feel” …. $92 later, seeking a second opinion (so another $92), an MRI ($300) and a diagnosis of arthritis, it’s safe to say Dr Hocking did not provide me with adequate care that day.
That’s only one of many experiences I could list since approximately October 2021.
Receptionists are lovely however could improve their communication skills, there have been a number of times the communication has been terrible.

Can’t even pick up a phone have called 6 times to make appointment each time waiting over 5 minutes of just continuous ringing! Waste of time!

Medical One and my doctor Michael he's very naes to me and I remember when I had my last appointment at the Sonshine hospital for the scan I told hem about that & he seat to me at going to you appointment I sed yes & he Lok at me we'd it's like he was telling me Godby for the last time.

Thank you so much to Dr Yianni who was so incredibly attentive and kind whilst checking my two-year-old who had croup. He is clearly amazing with kids and it was such a pleasant experience as he went above and beyond. Brilliant 'bed-side manner. ' Really appreciate it.

Sorry to say this medical centre is all about the money mind u not any better than other medical centres.unfortunately doctors in a hurry to get u out of there less than 5 minutes u pay $92 then they of course want to c u again so disappointed really.receptionist rude too they keep u on hold forever for a simple question and give u attitude after.never again

No complaints with the Sydenham medical one. Doctors and staff are always good and I always like coming back here.

DR STUART COULL IS THE COOLEST MD. HES YOUNG AND HES GOT THAT ENERGY WHERE YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH WHATEVER HE SUGGESTS. I WHOLE HEARTEDNESS TRUST THIS GP WITH MY LIFE.

Been here for 20 years and absolutely no complaints! Helped me a lot in year 12 where I was sick a lot, to get through the year!

The doctors here are absolutely fantastic. The missing star is because the booking system needs improving.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Doctor is on time, very experienced, knowledgeable and receptionists were very professional and helpful. Definitely would recommend. NOTE: does not bulk bill (I knew that before making an appointment)

Really caring doctors and great support staff. I'm now reluctant to consider going anywhere else even when they're fully booked.

I was denied the right to medical treatment here. I have a mask exemption and was told I have to have a phone appointment. Since the medical problem I was suffering from would require the doctor to observe my problem face to face how can this be appropriate.

Good doctors, only issue is how their billing works but I’m not very smart to begin with so maybe thats my problem. The chemist attached is very convenient

I haven't found a good medical clinic since I was at uni (generally they've been 5min rushed appointments) but was recommended this place by an old boss after not having much luck after moving to the area and over the last 6 years they've been great especially Dr Dusan Sajdak. Also I see Dr Ben Winters when Dusan is booked out and he is very nice too. Generally the doctors are on time as well. I would recommend this place highly!

An Amazing medical centre with amazing doctors.we have seen Dr dinali perera and Dr vasudevan and both are really nice.will not go anywhere else.

Dr. Dusan sajdak one of the most caring and amazing GP. My life without him would not be the same. In 2008 i had basketball injury, after my operation, I was suffering from Complex chronic regional pain syndrome which resulted me having many complications which include being paralysed for 2 year suffering from seizures, tremors, migraines and asthma. In 2016, he started treating me for my asthma and other chronic conditions and with a multidisciplinary approach under Dr Dusan guidance I am happy to say that after 12 years of suffering, in 2018 I was able to walk again pain-free, seizure-free and tremor-free.
Dr. Dusan went above and beyond to save my life. He is excellent and I trust him completely. I have been to over 20 specialists the best of the best, but they had no idea how to start treating me but Dr. Dusan is one those doctors that never gives up on you even if it’s the worst scenario that is one of his best qualities. If you are looking for an extremely thorough Doctor with compassion and exceptional ability you have found him. I can’t never thank him enough for how is he has changed my life and my family. He now our family doctor and that was correct decision made.
Also, the staff at the front reception at Medical one Sydenham are very supportive and caring. They always put the patient first no matter what!

This is Peter. I am a very frequent patient Of your service, Medical one is a very professional clinic, with good recereceptionists (e.g Barbara, Anne.) and good doctors such as Stuart, d.r Michael hocking, d.r Colin French. Also I would recommend seeing d.r Ben if you suffer with some form of addiction. We spent almost 40 minutes talking about my addiction and he was very understanding and said that it doesn't make you a bad person. Good job
