Meatworksco reviews
72On a cold May night I had my birthday dinner here in front of the cosy combustion fireplace and all 16 hungry guests had a fantastic evening with some of the most flavoursome smoked meats we had ever experienced. The Brisket is brilliant. The staff are so friendly and the kitchen crew have their skills on display for the patrons as well. I am looking forward to making Meatworksco a regular dining stop from now on. Very thankful to have a place like this in South Melbourne.
Great food. Enjoyed every meal we’ve had here. Potatoes and corn (sprinkled with heaps of parmesan) were the bomb. So was lemon cake. Everything is super fresh and delicious.
Service by South American (?) girl is ok but could be better. I also do not really enjoy industrial setting of the interiors, that’s just a personal preference though.
Amazing food and excellent staff. Had a nice night there. Highly recommend this place!
Thank you for the service, you beautiful ladies:)
Great food in a trendy done up old garage, the atmosphere is amazing and the manager and staff are very friendly. The smoked meats are to die for
In for an 8pm booking for 7 people; couldn't get seated till 830.
Staff didn't want us at the bar; we were told to wait outside or comeback.
Finally got seat we were cramed into a corner (although we did get moved to a better table)
Menu & ordering through an qr code which is printed so small the majority of the table couldn't pick it up.
Food took almost an hour to come out; we left the ordering to the very nice but clearly overwhelmed Manager who recommended 2 meat platters which was nice enough.im sure the sides would have been good too but we got 1 order of fries & a salad for 7 people?
Amazing protein cooked with love and served with care. Meatworksco is a quirky and delightful atmosphere that feels like you have walked into you family's dining room (ok its a bit larger and there are other people there!).
The food is excellent and share plates are the way to go.
The meat is cooked to perfection, and the sides are also really tasty and enjoyable. The desserts are limited but all very good! The wine list is large enough to find something you like, but just ask the waiter to find you something to match and in the end you will order more than one bottle of whatever they bring out.
Go for meat, stay for the service, leave room for the dessert and depart feeling like you just had a meal to remember and tell your friends about.
The staff are amazing and friendly, the food is even better. Could not recommend this place enough.
Place has nice vibe and staff were very friendly and nice. Food wise.we ordered the Meatworksco Smoked Meat Platter, the 12 hr smoked beef ribs and Roasted Smashed Baby Potatoes with herbs and seasalt and a Sparkling pink grapefruit & Rose Mocktail.
All meats without exception, we felt that even when smoked for 20 to 24 hours, they didn't have a smoky taste at all. Meat was dry and not really flavourful (so we were glad to have salt and pepper on the table).
Side of Potatoes and Mocktail was very very nice, and staff were great too.hence the 3 stars. Otherwise just for the food, will be given only 2 bc the price wasn't that cheap either.
Do yourself a favour and experience how beef brisket is supposed to be done.
Ordering anything less than 200g of brisket should come with the following consumer advice, “Warning: shared platters can cause hostile behaviour among family members. ”
Nathan and Betsy (the smoker) I salute you!
Visited on Saturday evening and ordered the platter along with two sides.
Side 1 (Beef spring rolls) - The crispiness of the spring rolls was nice, but not sure if beef meat and spring rolls work.
Side 2 (Disco fries) - Delicious to begin with, but not as enjoyable as we made our way through the bowl of fries. There was this really salty puddle of sauce at the bottom of the bowl that made it really unpleasant to continue eating unfortunately.
Platter - Beef brisket, ribs and sausage were good, however the other meats were either dry (pulled pork), tasteless (chicken drumsticks) or over charred (pork belly, left a bitter aftertaste.).
All in all, a below average dining experience. The most disappointing part of the meal was the meat platter, expected more from it given this is a smokehouse specialising in meat.
First of all the food was great. However they haven't exactly hit the nail on the head with the overall aesthetics and restaurant experience. It is difficult to tell what kind of restaurant they are trying to market themselves as, is it supposed to be a southern BBQ diner type thing? If so it needs some improvements to capture the vibe, e.g. Better music, lighting. Due to the fact you order on your phone there is basically no customer service or food recommendations. The place was also way to chilly to be relaxing. A few improvements and this place could be a go to.
The best ever! Food is great. Brisket really delicious. The manager very nice and kind. Exceptional service, very comfortable and spacious place. I would highly recommend this place.
Had a lovely time here the food was AMAZING (I got the Flank steak and truffle mash) and our server Alex was the sweetest girl and really made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Definitely coming back for some more truffle mash and looking forward to trying the ribs next time!
Meatworksco is a must try in South Melbourne. Great atmosphere and vibe with amazing service. I couldn't believe how good the food was and very reasonably priced.
Good venue and friendly service, however the food is really sub-par when compared to Melbourne’s other bbq venues such as Le Bon Ton, Fancy Hanks etc.
Ordered the smoked bbq meat platter for two plus a couple of sides.
All of the meats tasted very plain and did not have a smokey bbq taste. The chicken and sausages were the best on the platter. With the pulled pork and brisket bring the least favourite of the options served.
Interesting the brisket was served chopped into pieces in a bowl with a watery sauce. Very different given brisket is generally served in large slices.
Unfortunately don’t think I would return.
THIS RESTAURANT IS SMOKE AND MIRRORS.
I preffice this review with stating that my wife and I are not huge volume eaters.
The meat was cheap and flavourless. The highlight cut was 1 chicken drumstick each. The rest of the meats were in very small portions to share. The pork shoulder tasted exactly like that pre-made packaged stuff you get at Coles. They also only gave 1 piece of cauliflower!
The meat did not tasted smoked at all. The restaurant had no smell of smoked meat at all.
We went and bought junk food after as we were still hungry.
It's a great place to dine in with family or friends. The price is reasonable (had full ribs between 2 of us). A bit hard to find parking as some people said. The taste of the ribs were great, i wouldn"t say fantastic.
Hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. Food was just fantastic, very good portion sizes.
House wine was also great.
Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic menu, delicious food, great atmosphere, priced well especially for what you get and the staff were lovely. Will definately visit again!
Came when it first opened and was a bit underwhelmed but decided to give it another go. Sausages were delicious and juicy and the pork ribs feel off the bone. The sides were good too. Will be back.
