Max's Restaurant reviews
61With a recommendation from a friend, we took a friend for her birthday. You will not be disappointed by the food nor the service. The selection of wine to Compliment each dish you ate. The expresso Martini made fresh to order. The food, and I highly recommend doing a taster, entree, main and dessert. I left almost 3 hours later fully satisfied and the service was impeccable. I will be returning again. Thank you for a lovely lunch experience.
Amazing team! We felt very well looked after. Fantastic Espresso Martini? Food was absolutely divine! We will be back.
Beautiful location, attentive staff and really delicious food. I did as part of their mushroom foraging experience. Max was great fun and a super host with Daniel. Of course the wine was amazing since the cellar door is next to the restaurant!
It was my 1st time at Max restaurant. Beautiful location. I felt we were welcomed and served very well. We enjoyed the space, but I wouldn’t say it was a modern setup. The views were brilliant. And I luckily had window seat aswell to watch magnificent view. All good dishes we had after along time. I will certainly visit this place again
It was our 1st time at Max restaurant. Beautiful location. I felt we were welcomed and served very well. We enjoyed the space, but I wouldn’t say it was a modern setup. The views were brilliant. I wish we had window seat. Even though there were few options to pick, the food was mouth-watering. Some good dishes we had after along time. I will certainly visit this place again
Terrible. Would not recommend even as a last resort.
Unfortunately booked dinner for two after finding everywhere else was booked and it was very evident why they had a booking last minute.
The venue has potential however is in need of a significant update.
As far as the food goes, I’ve had better meals at a dive pub however, this was to be expected after the staff asked within 5 minutes of arriving if we were going to order dessert because the kitchen staff wanted to go home.
The only redeeming quality, the wine. Save yourself the $300 bill and go to the cellar door.
Excellent food and service. The staff is friendly and attentive. Lovely scenery overlooking the vineyards. Highly recommend Max's for any occasion.
Very disappointing and when confirmation was done, should have been notified of changes and drove all the way from Melbourne for Special occasions, and U feel very down and when top class restaurant don't fulfill this. I spoke to Max's sister personally and confirm this, we were treated very bad and was told that to sit outside and when you ready to order we have to come all the way around and use front door. No body will serve us he said and no one to look after us and the tables were dirty and nothing was there. Last time we came we sat outside and we were served, that's surprising.
No apologies and we left the place without having anything, I think it was a bit racist. Never coming back ever.

Service, food, wine list and views make this place an outstanding place to enjoy what Mornington Peninsula has to offer.
Put it high on your "Must visit" list.
This is a magnificent setting for a restaurant. With beautiful views of the the area & ocean. The food was great. The entree mushroom risotto special, and scallop ceviche were really packed with flavour. Our mains were nice. The Hapuka was a little bland & needed more of a sauce. The side chips were chunky and yummo. Our service was friendly, but there were a number of small errors. We asked for sparking water they bought still. We ordered two oysters but received snd were charged for three. We really enjoyed it here. We would return. We def recommend.
Had lunch on Sunday after new year. Excellent views but restaurant really needs to be renovated into a more stylish and modern one.
Service was good except our waiter refused to cover his nose with his black cloth mask which are not as efficient in protection as surgical ones.
Meals were below average in quality and presentation with my lavoshe was burnt brown with nothing better to replace it, roast beef meals had scant servings with the piece of onion being the largest piece on the plate. Servings were generally tiny and unjustified.
Not returning!
Horrible communication. I’ve left emails and phone calls with them regarding a wedding reception and haven’t heard a peep from them. They prettty much just lost $$$$ so I’ll take it elsewhere.
We had a lovely Sunday roast. Would have like more than one slice of meat and my pud was a bit burnt. There were other tables of people there and their menu looked great too, I believe they were there for the truffle menu.
Overpriced at $85 set roast menu (chicken VERY dry and cold) and wouldn’t allow us to have tap water we had to pay $4 for bottled! How is this allowed? Tap water is available in every restaurant!
It was ok. We had lunch there and food was ok, service was slow and dietaries were messed up. We'd come from a wine tasting down the road and comparably the wines here were just "ok" and some of us ended up drinking beer instead. Views were exceptional and atmosphere in restaurant was lovely as were the staff. Worth checking out if in the area
This is one of the best restaurant in Victoria. The views are amazing, you can see Philip Island from the restaurant. The food is very delicious. It is a lot higher quality and sophistication and very beautiful presentation compare to other restaurant in Mornington. I would come again and drive all the from Melbourne CBD for birthday and other special occasion. The service is also top notch. I will recommend to all my friends about this hidden gem. The price is already very fair for the quality of food. You just have to come to this place at least once in your life time.
No options for vegetarian menu.and they charge over the roof for the menu.
Water is 8$/ bottle
Service was pathetic
Friendly staff, attentive service. Well presented servings and delicious, though portion sizes based on previous attendance were a little disappointing.
We ordered 3 course for $85 per person i ordered Glaze beef and it looks like this, im so disappointed the way it looks. That's my main course.
