Mavros Fish and Chips

Splashed out on 7 scallops at $2.90 each as a treat - got home and terribly disappointed! Worst value in Ocean Grove! Scallops were mainly batter - the scallop meat was the same size as a 5 cent piece.utterly disappointed. No wonder no one was waiting - the one up on the corner had queues out the door - never ever again.

Only place l'll go to for a lamb souvlaki. Meat tender, salad fresh, all wrapped in a lovely soft wrap. Staff very friendly.

I had a single pack that was good value. It had a really nice piece of fish, dim sim, chips. The potato cake was the only let down, you could tell it was from a frozen bag from the shops.

When I go to a fish and chip shop I expect crunch, crispy, tasty.
What I got - soggy, limp almost anaemic looking chips. The potato cakes clearly lacked love.
I did not like it at all.

Worst chips I have ever had.the burger was inedible, lettuce must of been a week old and the pattie was off.

Been a local my whole life and there’s 0 competition! Our order was fresh, perfectly cooked and tasted delicious! Burgers and souvalakis is the best I’ve had in a long time! Staff super friendly and very efficient wait time for a busy Saturday night

Well over rated and the surcharge while paying cash is ridiculous. When asking the young blonde gentleman why we were being charged surcharges on cash he shrugged and had no knowledge and when we asked management the woman responded "they had a 10% surcharge and that was it. " So pay it or dont order attitude.very rude.

Waited 50mins when we were first told 10mins. Then they messed up the entire order and made all fish fried inside of crumbed.

Service was incredibly efficient, lots of customer attention and you can see that the staff enjoy working together. Lovely environment for a family fish’n’chip night

We have being here in Ocean Grove for the last nearly 4 months we absolutely love this place, we get the calamari pack and it feels both me and my partner. We will miss this place when we go back to Melbourne. But we will come for one last time before we go.

Unusual.fish and calamari not the best. Requested no salt, but meal loaded with salt. Had to remove crumbed part, to eat the fish and calamari. All the staff were courteous and friendly.

Rubbish! Our meal was so disappointing and over priced. The $9 piece's of flake were thin an small, potato cakes were battered Pringles and lucky to find a chip longer than 20mm (and far too many had black spots on them). The only saving grace were the half dozen chicken nuggets we ordered for the kids, but I guess that would be hard to stuff up!

Mavro’s was a fave go to whenever I was in OG but I hadn’t been there for about 18 months until yesterday.
My fond memories of Mav’s consistently high quality offerings were smashed by what I was served up yesterday.
The Flake, once a generously cut fillet, was now a stingy sliver barely thicker than the paper it was wrapped in and barely visible between the layer of batter.
The Scallops, once whole beautiful plump molluscs with roe, now a big ball of batter with a fragment of dissected flesh or roe inside. I ordered two Scallops yesterday. What I got, at best, was one Scallop surgically separated.
The Potato Cakes were generously thick slices of spud but were undercooked.
I don’t mind paying nearly 18 bucks for a piece of Flake, 2 Scallops and 2 Potato Cakes but I expect to get a thick slice of fish, whole scallops and crisp fluffy potato cakes.
Mavro’s is a disappointment since changing hands.
Won’t be going back.

It was amazing hands down best souvlaki I’ve ever eaten and friendly staff what else could you want after a nice swim at the beach

Really wonderful service, even when busy at crazy times of year. One of the best chicken souvlakis I’ve had on the Bellarine. Highly recommend.

The flake made me sick for the next few days and we had to wait for a while despite the store not being overly busy. The food was tasty however and maybe it was just that specific flake that didn't agree with me.

Worst Hamburger we, ve ever had the meat was like over spiced sausage. We had indigestion and reflux. We had to get home in a hurry, say no more.

Still taking website orders when they are shut - what a waste of everyone’s time. Need more competition in this town

After a day on the beach what tops that off? The best fish and chips that's what and Mavros did just that!
Good light batter over a tasty piece if Blue grenadier and the chips were good too.

Friendly staff, quick service. Super helpful with allergens. We had a simple order of flake (tastes fresh) and chips done just right. Totally recommend!
