I visited Mary Eats Cake for the fourth time last week, including one time when we had a beautiful bridal shower afternoon. Everything at the bridal shower was perfect. Last week though, I must say I was a little disappointed with the high tea, as I had arranged the day for a friend's 80th birthday. It was the first time she had had a high tea. The scones were wonderful but I think some of the savoury items were a little underwhelming, particularly the raw tuna cone. The only taste was the chili hit at the end. The sandwiches were lovely but the little tart was a bit ordinary, and perhaps a little quiche would be nice. I think even with the desserts, at least one chocolate item would have been better. I have preferred the more traditional types of menu items better in the past. As always, the setting and service were just great. Just a few tweaks to the high tea menu would be appreciated for me.

Celebrated my wife’s 60th birthday. We booked the “Fancy Package “. The food was delicious. Bottomless scones! Service was exceptional! I would recommend everyone visit Mary Eats Cake. Thanks for making my wife’s birthday memorable. Ken McHale

Went for a walk and got hungry, haven’t been for awhile and was so grateful that staff made a table for us. Brunch was delicious, service was amazing and next time I won’t wear trackies

The Library Montrose was perfect for a special birthday. Plenty of delicious treats, cocktails with excellent quiet service. Would highly recommend.

Lovely and attentive service and an easy booking process at short notice. Food was varied and interesting and a nice blend of savoury and sweet. Tea and coffee were of high quality. Would definitely return, especially for a private gathering. We were in the library and it was nice.

We enjoyed a vegetarian and vegan high tea and everything was delicious. I especially enjoyed the coconut and mint tea.

I had my bridal shower at Mary Eats Cake, Montrose and it was amazing. The booking process was smooth, Calista was so helpful and accommodating, even when I asked 1000 questions! On the day, the staff looked after us perfectly. Special thanks to Tiana (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) who went above and beyond (and was a fellow Swiftie!). The food, mimosas and tea were delicious, and the decor was gorgeous. Loved the day and can’t wait to go back.

Local high tea suitable for all celebrations. There are rooms in and around the premise suitable for any occasion.

Beautiful place setting, comfortable spacing between tables. Scones were really yum however some of the other sweet items taste on the unbalanced side. Not enough savoury to balance the sweets too. Choice of tea was not offered and there was black tea all ready at the table; service was a bit slow and would feel like asking for a different pot of tea will take ages.

I was surprised this morning with a delivery from Mary Eats Cakes.
My daughter Emma sent me this beautiful display of gastronomic delights.gorgeous cakes, savoury treats, and amazing looking scones with generous proportions of jam and cream.
Then to lift the cover off and the aroma was delightful. My biggest issue was where to start. Not only the presentation has the wow affect but the flavours are amazing and delish in every way. So thank you my darling daughter, and thank you Mary Eats Cake for the memorable experience I shall never forget.

Lovely afternoon for my daughters baby shower.
Attentive staff and a good variety of high tea goodies and no pressure to leave. Hot tea and mock tails were great, plenty of parking available.

I’ve been to many high teas in Melbourne but Mary Eats Cake is by far the best. So glad to finally make it after a few false starts thanks to lockdowns. Love the outdoor additions since I was last there in 2019 - they make for great photos!

If you have a sweet tooth then this is the place to go!
Good variety of cakes and savoury eats plus lots of types of tea with scones. Highly recommended.

Perfection for the wee rainy afternoon. The tea has been brewed well-rounded flavour and scones are exceptionally fluffy and giant. Recommended for 2 people otherwise must have scones when your stomach is empty.

The food was nice as well as a lovely atmosphere. We obviously stayed a little bit longer than we should have as the rude girl who came and started clearing the table by basically throwing the cutlery onto the China plates I'm surprised they didn't break from her carry on! She then came back to take the saucers from under our tea cups whilst we were still drinking from them! She could have kindly told us that you were closing instead of carrying on with her bad attitude

The best high tea I have experienced in Melbourne! Friendly staff, dietary options and simply delicious food. Perfect for a treat, special occasion or just because you want to go. I highly recommend the bottomless brunch option!

We visited for the Animal Aid fundraiser tea. It was a fantastic experience. The food and tea was absolutely delicious and so well presented. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend to visit.
