Maru Korean BBQ Box Hill

Food came only after 30 minutes, and we ordered 3 soups. Very stingy on giving any ingredients in the soup at all. Soybean soup overly salty. There was no care put into cooking the food. The kimchi was so spicy it was not edible.

Best fried chicken in Box Hill come here regularly for lunch and the service is always on point. Thank you guys and keep up the great work!

My family enjoyed BBQ dinner. I don't eat meat but I was able to find nice dishes like fried crab claws. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

I love Korean food its very easy to ruin it. Jan gun was my favourite before Maru. Nothing is comparable in my opening. Dried radish kimchi is out of this world. People are the best here, outstanding service. Simply the best?

They are always closed after 7pm. Tried calling no one picked up. Every time I walked up to the restaurant it was closed.

Very convenient location for young families, love that we can have both a choice of Korean bbq and ordering dishes.

The restaurant has 10% surcharge on Sunday (not public holiday). I think this is a rip off and an opportunity for them to bank extra cash.

Overall the food are good… but I guess Maru owner or anyone that works there doesn’t drink though. Because their beer are not cold enough and it’s not serve in a chilled glass opps sorry but it gives a difference

Good Korean food at decent prices in Box Hill Central. Fairly new. Good staff service and plenty of seating options.

Don’t bother to come after 8pm on a Saturday, staff are too lazy to accept walk-in even though there are plenty of empty tables. What a time waster!

When I dine out I am looking for good vibes, friendly waiters, and cleaniness. It’s a bonus if the food taste good. This place ticks all the boxes and beyond. Special call out to the owner and staff going out of their way to make sure we had a good dining experience, this is not something you get often these days. I would highly recommend this place for a good (authentic) Korean feed.

We have visited this newly opened restaurant for a few times now. We really liked the side dishes it is a highlight to us. It is tasty and good portion. The seafood pancake taste good and a good portion as well. Kalguksu noodle soup is again a good portion with nice broth and noodle. Bimbibap is nice as well. The sizzling pork plate was decent, it is big portion. We have not tried their BBQ menu yet. Will be visiting again and try their BBQ. Also good customer service.

Reasonably priced Korean food & generous servings of side dishes with very friendly and accommodating staff Shoutout in particular to Allen, Sean and Alvin for their warm hospitality. Highly recommended eatery in Box Hill.

The staff is so unprofessional operated like robot. Not telling customers ordering system is by using QR code. We don’t realized the cutlery are inside the drawer under the table till we asked. Food looks nice though.

Food was alright. The manager was very nice however the staff weren’t helpful much. We asked for extra side dishes seems like they forgot and seems always tried to avoid eye contact with us. Pork bbq set was enough for 2 but the meat was too much fat if can changed would be better

Maru is a new korean barbeque restaurant located in the heart of Box Hill Central.
It has a big menu with all things Korean so there is plenty of dishes to choose from.

We ordered:
- Beef set?
- Pork set
- Spicy kimchi stew
- Seafood pancake
- Japchae

Everything was solid although be prepared to cook the meats yourself. We preferred the beef set over the pork set but our favourites dish was the japchae. The glass noodles were of a good texture and paired well with the flavours of the marinated meat.

The complimentary and unlimited side dishes were a plus and definitely on the better side, especially the radish.

Overall a nice spot with very comfortable & cushiony seating, although we prefer spots that cook the meat for you.
