Marios reviews
61 Disappointed with the customer service from the old guy with the white slicked back hair. He was rude when I asked where would he like me to stand whilst I wait for a takeaway order.
I thought it would be polite to ask so as to not be in anyone’s way. He responded to me with a rude and blunt ‘you have to find a way’, and an agitated look on his face.
He so easily could’ve said ‘right over here’ or something kinder. This was also more disheartening as while I waited, I saw how nice he was to all the people sitting down smiling and serving them. I got the feeling like I wasn’t welcome to order from here, let alone wait in their restaurant.
Perhaps if he knew how much I spent he would treat me better. (I spent a generous amount for a special dinner for my family)
Really disappointed with this place and very safe to say I will not be returning again.
Just to end on a positive, the older asian waiter was really warm and kind to all. Loved his warm customer service and actually a bit disappointed at how management were ordering him around.
This place lacks respect to their customers and staff alike, has cheap-looking seats and tables, is undoubtedly overpriced and treat their customers and frontline staff horribly.
You can not in good conscience support this place with your time and dollars.
Marios, an old faithful, but haven't been here for years.still delicious with great service! The garlic chilli muscle pasta is my recommendation!
If you like Italian food Marios is a must when you visit Melbourne. To kickstart the night the waiter received us with Italian jokes, fresh bread and butter while we were waiting for the mains. The food was full of flavor and abundant and the staff was super friendly. We closed the night with a espresso and a limoncello. An experience that took me back home.
Ok breakfasts. Nice old school staff. But a tourist trap. Beware, there are better spots in the area. Don’t trust other reviews. Food is extremely average. Skip this one.
One of the best value for money pastas on this side of town. The osso buco special was really good.
I've seen other restaurants drop the quality of their produce during these challeng times. Marios on the other hand have maintained the same good quality and standard they have always had.
Food quality and coffee is heaps better than most. Yes, the mature lady waitress is awesome and friendly however, I agree with the reviews of racial discrimination against non-whites from the old man and his regulars. No sooner we brown people sat down, it was quick fast service, the bill was shoved in our face basically telling us to hurry up and get out! And we always tip! Pity.real pity to get that treatment from such a nice place.
Every time I've gone to Marios over the past 25 years - EVERY time - the food has been fantastic, matched by the awesome service. A Brunswick St institution.
Ordered the most divine gnocchi dish for dinner tonight and was happy to hear that Marios is delivering during lockdown by their own staff. Service was fast and food was still hot. This place never disappoints.
Can’t believe I have walked past Mario’s so many times but never been inside! We had dinner here so can’t comment on the cafe menu but overall impressed with their simple but flavoursome dishes. A great spot for an intimate Italian dinner. Amazing customer service from Charlie, who was attentive, friendly and made great recommendations.
Just popped into this place for a quick takeaway dinner and MY GOD was it good! Can’t wait to return.
Marios is one of my favourite cafes in the world. The waiting staff are friendly and witty. Favourite dish for me is the Chicken Livers I rarely order anything else because it's soooo good. My wife loves the calamari and my friend the pasta dishes.
Thanks for giving us your love and passion for food and good company.
The standard of service at this cafe was quite disappointing. Although the coffees were of a good standard, our experience was spoiled by staff bringing the bill to our table before we were finished. This made us feel rushed out of the restaurant, and as if we were greatly undervalued as customers. We will not be returning to a place with such an ordinary standard of customer service.
Average Italian restaurant. Had a decent lasagne but not amazing. Reasonable price, not super cheap not super expensive. Service was fast but it wasn't busy when I went.
I don't visit as often as I would like. Quality coffee, great meals, friendly staff and, well, it's the vibe!
One of Melbournes best Italian restaurants. Great food, great staff and close to some of the best local nightspots.
Beautiful food. At the end waitress told me she liked my Indian accent. It brings out lot of memories for her! But I am NOT Indian!
Overcooked poached eggs hard. 1 piece of toast 1.5 mushroom very bland, not good quality products for the price. Plenty of other options in Brunswick str
Really special old school cafe, great vibe, boomer and cool people mostly. Really great food and drinks for breakfast, beautifully balanced poached eggs with smashed peas, mint and chilli.
For authentic Italian food, fabulous service at an affordable price? This is the place! Special mention to the beautiful Sam who goes out of her way to provide the best service imaginable.
Stopped by here for some dessert. Staff were all very friendly. I ordered a cup of tea with a lemon curd dessert. It was delicious. I will return to try the mains one of these days.
