If you want to get a table, get in early otherwise be ready to line up and wait for a bit.

Was taken here for a beautiful birthday dinner, I normally get nervous when people take me too Italian cause what could be better than what's being made at home? But this was pretty damn good. The servings were bigger than a politician's ego, so come with an empty stomach

It is hard to get seating, so the only downside was sitting in the door and getting a little rain on us as people came through

Incredible pasta and spaghetti dishes! Highly recommend the bolognese for its generous serve and also the mussels with its spicy bisque.

The best of the best again and again. Never ever had in issue, best food, best staff, and best atmosphere. Grab a Sangiovese and a pasta, eat and get out of the way so the next person can enjoy

Nice staff who are very efficient (it’s more of a quick meal place than a relaxing long one) and the restaurant has an authentic vibe.

The food is fine. The pasta of my lasagne was a little too soggy for my taste, and my my wife’s spaghetti a little too greasy for hers.

Good negroni.

Mario's is always a great dining experience. Great food combined with an informal atmosphere and great staff always make for a great night.

Walked in just happened to get a table for 3 outside, warm and welcoming. The penne pork & fennel special? And staff were attentive and service was awesome.

This place is famous! It’s been around since early Fitzroy days. The food is high quality and has that hearty, home-cooked feel. However, the best thing about this place by far is the service. Everyone that works here has been here forever and as soon as I walked in, Jo greeted me with a warm smile and friendly attitude and I instantly knew I was going to love this place. I sat on the bar facing the street by myself and chatted with friendly patrons who have been coming for years. Jo is like everyone’s cool Aunty. 100% coming back here and telling friends about it!

Est in 1986 and still going strong. Great coffee and excellent service. What more do you want? Bloody good breakfast? I had the smashed peas and they were sensational. The peas were warm, poached eggs perfect and the OJ was freshly squeezed. Heaven. And getting a car park was so easy on a Sunday morning. Will definitely come back soon

Was taken here for lunch today. Staff friendly. Coffee good. Nice wine. Nice pasta. Calamari on salad good but it lost a little crunch sitting on top of the salad - was slightly soggy as was lettuce otherwise nice. Recommended.

Fabulous traditional Italian food! Service was great! No special milks apart from Soy and no Decaf.but still great service and food. Enjoy!

My review is about their breakfast only. I ordered from the menu eggs Benedict, in accordance with it they should have been served with the bearnaise sauce, instead I received hollandaise. Why not to update the menu? Do they know the difference? The presentation did not look exciting at all. Also it happened to me first time in a cafe, that poached eggs were over cooked.

Mario’s is a favourite spot to dine for my partner and I. Easy, unpretentious and delicious food. Special shout out to the lovely waiter sporting the pony tail. He remembered my partner and I eight months since our last visit and acknowledged that it was nice to see us again. Truly great customer service on his behalf.

Incredible. The spaghetti with mussels and the polenta chips are outstanding. The customer service is also wonderful. Have been here a number of times and will continue to come back time and time again!

Chicken saltimbocca is a favourite for me. So well cooked, and a beautiful jus to mop up with bread. The livers are fantastic too. The place has charm and the service is efficient. A good reason it's a Brunny St icon!

I have been eating at Mario’s for years. It is reliably great service, delicious food and welcoming. I can’t wIt to get there after the lockdown eases (again).

Came in for dessert after dinner down the road. Had a slice of cheesecake and the torte which were both divine! Nice strong coffee too. All meals that came past us looked and smelled amazing. Will return for a meal
