Marie Stopes St Kilda East

Initially due to the online reviews I did not want to go to Marie Stopes. I went to my Dr to find the best way to get a copper IUD and she highly recommended Marie Stopes. I told her my concerns due to the online reviews. The Dr was surprised as all her patients she had sent there only had good things to say. I decided to trust my dr based on her first hand experience and why I decided to leave my personal review today for others who are considering Marie Stopes.
I highly recommend Marie Stopes for copper IUD placement.
I spoke to them on the phone twice prior to making an appointment. The customer service was very attentive, kind, soft spoken and made time to answer all my questions. They made me feel like I was the only person they had spoken to all day.
On the day of the appointment I arrived very early before they had opened. They still let me in and the receptionist was like the people I had spoken to on the phone. Kind, gentle and caring. The process was very clear between interviews with the nurse and dr, then in procedure. Every step of the process was made clear and each contact felt very personal to my needs.
I was very nervous going into this procedure but the clinic was very good at ensuring I was in professional hands. I highly recommend considering Marie Stopes.

I had such a good experience at this clinic. Every staff member & nurse were so friendly & it was fast. They treated me so kindly the nicest any clinic has ever been to me & I’ve been to a lot. Nurse Nerrie especially was so lovely to me really turned a bad day upside down:) thank you guys keep up the good work from Narie.

This review is for the nurses and dr Johan who took care of me thank you so much I got my implants off my arm! And I am a person so can’t even get a needle it freaks me the team was so amazing the way they managed me and dint rush to complete the procedure.
Coming to the receptionist she was super rude! She needs some training how to be nice with the patients.
The waiting room is so small and tight no privacy! They should renovate the clinic too small and very old!

I was worried at first with the low rating, but the nurses and doctors were all amazing! No complaints at all!
They were very accomodating and informative, spoke clearly and slowly, and repeated information if required to make sure I understood everything.
The nurses had always checked up on me every now and then, even stopped by for small chats:)

I had and still having like a nightmares with this service! I choose teleabortion because on the website it says how fast and easy it is. Today is 16 day since I paid. I’m still waiting for my pills. Ladies in a call centre are absolutely useless! Telling me everytime different things! They don’t know anything! PLEASE, if you are in the same situation choose different clinic and service!

They were very responsible and kind and patient, the atmosphere there was very friendly,? Everything was done on time and there were no delays. Thank you for their good and professional behavior and excellent medical service, and I want to say Thank you Dr. Golareh for your patience in answering all my questions I recommend this clinic to all women if they need it

Receptionist is extremely cold and unwelcoming. Should be working in a bank, not an abortion clinic. Terrible for women going through an extremely vulnerable time and the first thing you are greeted with is a miserable attitude. The service is not accommodating of those who don't have Medicare, charging $990 for a surgical procedure. Not many options for women in Melbourne unfortunately. Doctor Sam was kind and Nurse Eleanor and the nurses in the recovery room were lovely.

Biggest mistake you can make is going to this clinic.

Ridiculously long waiting time. The staff is asking the same questions over and over - gives me a strong feeling that no one knows what is going on. Calling themselves a non for profit but charging a lot of money for bad service. Also they have complete disragard for people's personal sircumstances and don't provide accurate information on the phone about how long the appointment will take. Find another clinic! This one is bad. I was also told I would be given antibiotics to take after my procedure - and guess what. They sent me home without any antibiotics. They just don't care. They only had one caring person there today which was Jullia (I think). Who held my hand and was kind to me.

* Update - When I called the clinic to ask what I should be doing regarding the antibiotics the rude receptionist palmed me off very dismissively and provided no support.

The clinic was very professional and clean.
The nurses were great, very comforting and friendly. They helped me feel calm and prepared. Everything was explained in detail and without rush. Thank you for helping me.

Given my expectations, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Being in such a vulnerable position going in, the nurses certainly make you feel at ease and in control. I found the staff to be professional and everything was explained thoroughly. The aftercare was comfortable and the nurses consistently checked in to ensure I was doing ok - they made me tea and provided biscuits and anything else I needed. They ensured I left feeling fine and I appreciate it so much:)

Friendly, hospitable and professional. Everyone there is super friendly and makes the experience as calm and pleasant as you'd like it to be.

Recovery nurses were spectacular, in particular Ashlee. I found Dr Xu quite difficult to understand and he spoke very quickly. The receptionist was also very cold and unwelcoming when I arrived. Made me feel uncomfortable. Thanks to the lovely nurses as I was being put to sleep too, they were very comforting and soothing.

This clinic has an incredible team of people and is very professional. I would like to add that I recently had a copper IUD inserted and did not use sedation. I think that this choice was a mistake as the procedure was more than uncomfortable. Obviously everyone is different, but I wish I had of known just how painful the experience could be so I could have chosen differently. In saying this, I have been to this clinic twice and found that both times I was looked after with upmost care. All of the nurses are extremely kind and I felt safe knowing they were looking after me. They are all a bunch of angels and could not be doing a better job. I would highly recommend this clinic.

I’m sorry to have to give only 1 star but this is how my experience felt. Before going in for my appointment I watched the video as instructed on what to expect. Assuming that would be the same clinic I would be attending. However on the day I was rudely shocked. Instead I walked into a tiny and crowded waiting room and dealt with women at reception who did not give a pleasant welcome. The chairs seemed really old and dirty and could use with replacing. The entire clinic itself is very small. I arrived at 11: 30. Was seen my Laura about 40 minutes later. Laura was the only pleasant thing about my entire experience here. She was kind. After this I waited just over 3 hours before I saw the doctor who gave me a scan. It was incredibly painful and he was pushing very hard and moving very quickly. I was very emotional and he didn’t show a lot of care. After this I waited until 4pm before I was taken in for the procedure. I was put in a room off the corridor to change and I could hear music playing in the theatre which made me uncomfortable because this was a hard experience for me. The anaesthesiologist came in and asked me some questions and at this point I got overwhelmed and couldn’t go through with the procedure. I believe that if I was seen sooner I could have however after not eating or drinking since the night before as I had to fast I was light headed, starving, dehydrated, emotional and had a head ache. I spoke with the practice manager who helped me talk through some things and told me she would book me in with the counselling team to give me a call in the next few days. Weeks later I haven’t heard anything. I left the clinic feeling guilty and ashamed. However after visiting Fertility Control Clinic the following week I realised these feelings were unnecessary and not a reflection of myself but a reflection of my experience at Marie Stopes. Please if you need a surgical abortion visit Fertility Control Clinic. I was assessed, tests done and procedure completed within 3 hours. Everyone I dealt with were beautiful and kind and I cannot be more thankful for the team there. It costs slightly more but it is worth it for your comfort!

As a person who's fairly fearful of any medical appointment, let alone one that involves my nether regions, I was seriously anxious about my vasectomy. I needn't have been. Marie Stopes in St Kilda made it easy, comfortable and 99% pain free. I honestly cannot believe how smooth this procedure was. Under local anaesthetic I didn't feel the initial needle and was unaware much was going on until they told me they were halfway through. Post-procedure pain has been minimal and easily managed with Panadol - certainly nothing worse than a dull ache now and then in the three days since. I'm writing this to encourage any man who's got any nervousness around a vasectomy to rest easy and get it done. The Marie Stopes non-invasive procedure is extremely comfortable and in fact a non-event. Really lovely attentive doctors and nurses as well, so many thanks to Justin and his team.

Made to wait 4 hours from time of admission, this doesn’t sound like long but when you’ve been fasting from food and water for 18 hours it just adds to the uncomfortableness of the already daunting abortion procedure.
Overall experience was good staff were lovely, only critiques are the wait was long and then feeling rushed when still feeling dizzy and light headed from the anaesthetic.

I was offered informative advice with numerous options to suit my personal needs, delivered with a professional, compassionate and friendly demeanor by all the staff members I encountered- although I waited for an exceptional time (3h+) I understand that it is only because they are quite small and offer the appropriate time needed to each patient within the suites as they do not want to rush personal care that will greatly influence people's lives.

All my questions were valid, I was well informed on all aspects & was treated with utmost respect, after-care as well as Marie Stopes phone services are incredible, literally my only gripe was the insane wait time, bring a book.

Taking over 1 month to provide the customer with his post vasectomy semen result is poor customer service and simply unacceptable.

I did not have the best experience in this clinic but they are open yo your feedback. So do not hesitate to call them if you are not happy with the service provided.
