Maria Cafe

This place has an interesting menu and great coffee. Only complaint is that they change the menu. Normally this would be welcomed. But too often I've discovered a breakfast dish I love, but can no longer get.

Food great, but once again the service was very slow. Noisy inside when people are chatting.

On the way to lysterfield and drop by to have lunch after seeing good reviews.the food was delicious, really enjoyed the huevos benny, the whole dish is well balanced on flavour and texture.my husband had their street corn salad with fried chicken, which was also very filling and well seasoned:) 1&2P parking around.

Great Cafe, the food was delicious and the coffee is good.
I don't go there often, but I do try to get there when I'm in Upwey.

I’ve been going to Maria for years and it’s no longer a great cafe. The staff are really unfriendly, they wont make eye contact if you need to be seated or order. Lovely staff who would greet you with a smile like Paula and Lizzie have left. There’s nothing great on the menu anymore, regular favourites are swapped out and it’s very overpriced. It’s hard to find healthy options, everything is so sweet. There are definitely better, more welcoming cafes in the hills.

Service was terrible. After we were seated we waited about an hour for our food to come out after seeing everyone’s food come out who’d arrived after us we asked the staff what the wait was it’s clear they had forgotten to put through the order …. This would of been fine but at the end they took “ one coffee off the bill” after waiting that long you’d expect allot more then that. Perhaps the owners should hire staff that actually want to be there not 16-17 year olds with no personality! Do better!

Great food and coffee, but it’s so noisy my mother and I had to shout at each other to be heard across the table. Perhaps some acoustic absorbing decorations would be beneficial.

Delicious, healthy vegan options that you can tell took actual thought and effort, instead of your typical vegan faux meat burger option. We had the vegan tofu scramble and the salsa de huevo oaxaqueño tofu scram. So flavourful and nice. I got the cashew vegan hollandaise on the side and it was lovely. We will definitely be back. This Californian really misses chilequiles, so I can't wait to try it!

Brunch with a friend and Nadia gave excellent customer service, one of the servers was a bit off hand and Nadia swooped in to save the day lovely coffee set up etc

My husband ordered eggs over easy, pretty basic, they were like rubber, very disappointing. I had been here previously and enjoyed my meal, I was very surprised that the meal was so poorly made

Amazing! We are slowly making our way through the menu and have not been disappointed. Every single thing I have tried so far has been delicious, they also put on a super cute valentines day menu. There are also some nice options for kids as well as 3 spaces to sit in, it's very small and cozy but comfortable. Lots of fantastic vegan and vegetarian options also the menu it quite pricey but the food is worth it

I have had take away many times from here and the coffee is fantastic. It is quite popular so might be in for a bit of a wait some days. Dining in is very nice with bright indoor and outdoor spaces and a now finished outdoor area at the front (no more construction!).
A lovely alternative to the busy sister cafe Lorna. Easy parking too.

Used to be great, but now it’s just too expensive and slow. Last two visits, I waited between 20 and 25mins for a takeaway coffee. And if you bring a keep cup, expect a longer wait. They need an extra coffee machine and better processors.

Really unique menu, the tofu scam is delicious. Great for vegan options. Porridge is really aesthetically pleasing and tasted amazing.

Have given this cafe multiple chances and each time we come in we are completely ignored and have to get up and ask for menus and then they never come back to serve you. We wait at least 20 minutes each time. It’s almost like the staff cbf and don’t want customers. Really disappointing, again.

Seating is nice out back but the food was expensive and over-salted. Oil they cook in gave my partner an allergy reaction. Coffee is very average. Service was poor, took 30 mins to get anyone to take the order. Scatterbrained but friendly staff who were poorly organised - I get they were busy, but we observed 2 other parties who came later but were served ahead of us. I guess I simply don't look Hipster enough:). I also had to queue to PAY for my seated meal. Sigh.

Great coffee and vegan food options! Lovely atmosphere and setup. I always drop by when I'm in the area.

The coffees here are great. The Pour Over (Geisha Cerro Azul) was aromatic, sweet and well balanced - a little pricey, but really good. The Espresso was also wonderful and well balanced. Their Mexican Hot Chocolate was one of the best I've tasted - rich and sweet (but not too sweet!).

We also ordered a Pistachio Rose Drop which tasted nice. It was sweet and nutty. We didn't order any main meals this time, but looking at the tables beside us, the serving sizes were really big! They also looked really good (especially the waffles), so I will have to come again to give the main meals a try.

The cafe had a nice ambiance and the staff were super friendly and lovely. There is also a little area in their cafe selling local products such as coffee beans, hot chocolate powder, candles, etc.

22 minutes for take away coffee is a bit much sorry but if your in a hurry don't ever go to Maria

Delightful breakfast. All day menu, great coffee and service, and well executed meals. Bit out of my way, but I'd go back anytime I'm in the area. Highly recommended.
