Marche Board Game Cafe reviews
69Adrian is so cool how he carried our 9 mugs in one go with his own two hands. Am. Amazing and we love Adrian
Just watched the guy with black hair and glasses (I think his name is adrien) carry 9 glass cups with his 2 hands. Thank you adrien. You saved my family from a burning house. Amazing work adrien. Give this man a raise. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU.
Amazing place - great prices, super board game collection, food and drink are awesome, and the vibe is unbeatable. I visit as often as I can!
Wonderful little quiet spot filled with a wide range of games, some peace in the city chaos highly recommend.
Would recommend! Very wholesome place to go with friends or a date.though seems pricey at $20 pp, it is 3 hours of unlimited games and you get a free drink so it’s really more like $12. Same price as the movies really, and you get more out of it!
Only thing was no alcohol bevs was a bit sad. But bubble tea was good!
Great business model as you pay per person to play games. They get you with a drink included which is basically your dessert for the evening! There were so many games available that I’ve never even heard of but once we learned the rules of the games, it was super fun to just be kids again. Wished there was an option for cheaper entrance fees without the free drink though.
They also have a karaoke section which would be super fun to try next time.
Marche was a big disappointment because it is so full of promise. My friend and I reserved a table, and noted ahead of time I would have my 6yo daughter with me who would not be gaming, but would be ordering food. When we arrived the staff gave us a hard time about her sitting with us without paying $25. We wound up paying $50 for the two adults to have a table for three hours.
We were then sat at a very small 4-chair table (more like a 2-top in a restaurant) which didn't have enough space for most of the games we were interested in. Over the next couple of hours we enjoyed a small game, and ordered an extra round of drinks as well as snacks.
Two hours in to our 3 hour reservation, my wife dropped in from shopping. She was going to sit down and order food and a drink just to hang out, but the staff insisted she pay the $25 to sit. We tried to get the fee down to at least $10 since she was only there for an hour, but "no sorry that's our policy. "
Keep in mind the chair was with our table, and that if she had sat down and ordered food the place would have made more money. But no, they didn't want our money unless it came with extra money.
We wound up leaving an hour early, as Marche felt both unwelcoming and smug about its lack of welcomeness. I appreciate that a business needs to make money, but this felt like a clear case of cutting off the nose to spite the face. If they had just been reasonable we likely would have stayed for a longer period, perhaps rented a bigger table, and certainly bought more food and maybe dinner. As it was they sent us away with a sour taste in our mouths.
4 stars for potential

Great atmosphere. Wide variety of board games. Will definetely be back.
Guy at the reception was really helpful and hospitable.
Thanks for the experience, we had a great time. Highly recommend.
Not impressed with a staff member who barged into our karaoke room, presses pause, questions the number of guests (2 adults one child) doesn't seem aware that children 5 and under are no charge, then leaves the room without resuming play for us. Usually visit regularly but will think twice next time
I would have given this place a 5/5 if the host at the front was more helpful and welcoming. It was our first time visiting that place and we booked ahead for board games and food, we were told we had to pay an entrance fee of $25 per person which is pretty steep just to play board games. It does come with a free drink though which brings down the price abit depending what you pick of course.
The male host with the glasses seemed stand off-ish, not smiling, looked impatient when we tried to sort out our payment as we couldn’t split it because one person had to pay which made us flustered and apologetic holding up the line but he didn’t acknowledge our sorry. Honestly, he didn’t look like he wanted to work or be there. He was probably having a bad day but the front needs someone with a more welcoming attitude.
The entrance price is not displayed on the website either when you book which makes it confusing so we had no idea we had to pay upfront when we arrived.
The other staff members were nice, helpful and attentive when we asked questions. The food and drinks were great.
The QR codes on the tables do work which is great but the list needs to be updated.
All in all, it was still a fun experience. It’s just minor changes need to be made or discussed as it looks like it has been a problem with other attendees before. Will definitely return.
Best board game cafe in Melbourne. Friendly staff and great service. Must visit place with friends
Great Cafe and great vibes to dine, play board games or sing your heart out. Staff also have a pretty good knowledge on a variety of boardgames. Definitely would like to come again!
Pretty decent collection of board games, they have a few of each so you don’t feel like you’re fighting for resources. The staff are helpful and are happy to explain the rules and provide recommendations. The food is also good. $25 per person for three hours is pretty pricey but you also do get a free drink as well!
Staff that greeted our group was extremely rude and passive aggressive. (Caucasian lady). It was 11pm on a Friday and the staff was acting as if it was about to close any minute. Will not return and will tell others not to as well.
Great vibe, friendly atmosphere, lots of tables of people enjoying board games! Lots of non alcoholic drinks on offer and a great mix of longer strategy games and shorter card/party games.
Love this place. Went on a Saturday night. $25 for unlimited board games for 3 hours and a drink. Loved it. We had so much fun and cannot wait to go back soon.
I wouldn’t suggest Marche for Karaoke. The website is really confusing. There are few sections running in the evening. From 6-9 pm and 9–1am. While you have three hours from 6-9pm, 9-1am only includes two hours. But the menu doesn’t say anything about that! People will just automatically think that is a 4-hr karaoke. And we need to pay for $40 for only two hours! I wouldn’t book the karaoke if there is an instructions about the 2-hr-only karaoke.
The drinks are terrible as well.
Anyway, It was really disappointing.
10/10! Super lovely place, huge list of games, super nice staff, who even approached us to ask if we wanted a new game recommendation when they saw us looking. Awesome vibes too - loads of people playing games and laughing. Will definitely come back to bring my friends
This place was a nice find by my friends and I. $25 for 2 and a half hours of fun board game + 1 free drink, what a bargain!
Best milkshake in Melbourne. Nice place to go to, chill atmosphere, definitely will visit again
