MANIAX Axe Throwing - MELBOURNE CBD reviews
27Perfect place to learn how to axe throw! The staff were very friendly and all around really worth the money and had such a blast for my birthday!
The staff and the the experience overall was a grat one but it was not perfect.
Ill start with the downside as it seems to be a recurring theme and that is that the staff dont talk to each other to confirm full paymet prior to the session starting.
Being in a large group it is understandable that a couple of stragglers pay late, but we were all payed up about 20min before the session started and still asked to go make final payment when our session was starting.
Apart from that little issue, the session we had was great. We had a couple of practice rounds to get used to throwing the axes and were coached through it by the two staff members perfectly.
They were professional but had a sense of humour that allowed us to enjoy the night as a group without any issues. They set a good standard with what is acceptable banter and address it quickly but fairly if someone takes it too far.
Pricing for axe throwing is reasonable for the session times but non alcoholic beverages are a tad overpriced. There is a bar there but be sure not to drink before or during your session as there are strick no alcohol rules while throwing. Which is completely fair.
Food is available and can be consumed before, during or after your session.
Overall a great experience and will definitely be going back again.
This was such a fun experience I would recommend everyone to try it at lest once. The staff were super friendly and done a good job at explaining how it goes. I had a blast and would definitely be back soon
Such a stylish, comfy venue and the staff were all welcoming and helpful. Definitely want to come back and release my inner Viking again!
Such a fun time! Highly recommend. The staff were lovely and explained everything really well, would definitely come again
The experience could’ve been much better.
1. I purchased gift cards in person so I could have the plastic cards to give as a physical gift; the code written on one card was illegible and the code on the other card showed the error “already used” when I tried to book on the website later.
2. It took several calls to reach customer service during opening hours and once on the phone instead of being able to book a session for me they sent new codes and had me do the booking myself — even though I explained that I wanted to book a popular time and told them I wouldn’t be able to try booking again until much later. The first set of codes sent through also didn’t work so I had to contact customer service again.
3. My fault for not realizing at the time but another reason I won’t be going back is the pricing structure: the charge is per person instead of per lane so one person pays $45 for a 1hr experience, but two or three people would still be paying $45 for a 30 or 20 minute experience.
4. The “coaching” at the start in how to throw an axe was less than five minutes, including the time it took to explain safety rules. It was two quick demonstrations, not even talking the customer through their first throw.
5. On the day of throwing, one person had an unpaid balance. Front desk didn’t remind us before starting (“Would you like to pay the balance now? ”) so when we realized the matter after, it was another call to customer service. Then instead of forgiving the charge (it was for a 3rd person in the same lane so we’d already paid $98) in light of all of Maniax’ blunders, customer service insisted we pay the remaining $49.
In short, if you want to throw an axe, it’s not a bad place to do it. But there lots of better experiences to enjoy.
